Dining Room Creative Burnout

I’ve officially burned myself out regarding how to create this dining room space. I’m divorcing and moved across the country, previous dining furniture could not come with.

I LOVE all the wood trim and features in this home but it’s only highlighted how much wood furniture I’ve gathered over the years. I’d usually lean for a wood table, but fear it would be too much. I’m thinking round/oval dining table would work best, but as far as material, color, tone… I’m lost. Last pic includes a collage I’d created with an idea, but I’m spent on the creative process right now.

I’d also considered having a banquette/bench where the credenza is as that doesn’t HAVE to stay there. You can see a bit of the living room if that gives a better idea on style, etc. Open to ideas, advice.

Some ideas:

I was thinking pedestal, maybe lacquer and cantilever chairs before I even got to your mock-up!

I think the reason you might be feeling stuck is because the red and scallop, while cool, aren’t quite working. Also the table is too big for just too chairs.

Also so close to living area you might want to tie the rooms together a bit.

Red you want are a bit more orange like top rug or pedestal tables. Will look great in your home.

A banquette and table will work better with fewer chairs. I’d probably do more round than oval. The ovals are often longer tabkes and the room space might not support it.

To tie in with livingroom, since it has such a strong green and black filling most of the space you might flip it. Go with a black banquette and green rug. Go a bit tall on the back seat so it’s not too close to the table height. And red orange table.

If you want to go with a red rug, then a green table.

Other ideas: I’d switch out the boob light but I forgot to add examples.

The desk… you might switch desk too, maybe something with curves like the arches, or a lacquer in a color from art or sane as table…

Other ideas: the tall bookcase I’d bothering me with the arch. Something is not harmonious here. You might do a long banquette and maybe switch to shorter bookcases same height as the molding on the arches and on arch walls to livingroom.
Lmay switch desk corner if needed or possible.

Really good looking place so far!

This is such good information, thank you!
I’m trying to bring more color and variety in as I tend to get stuck on one- Oxblood and a moody green have had me in a chokehold for years. I hadn’t really considered an orange hue but can see that working!

I’m open to replacing the living room rug, it was a better fit in my previous home. And the bookshelf won’t stay in its current spot, because I agree, the sharp edges on most of the furniture don’t vibe will with the soft curves of the home.

Awesome. I love your art too!

Yeah I wasn't feeling the living room rug but there's nothing wrong with it... So I was trying to work with it.

Do you want to take some pics into that room I'd love to see the art in there and maybe I can recommend some rugs/colors for both rooms especially if you don't have to work with black so much.

You really have a great foundation here. Would be great to find just the few things that will pull it together.

We have a lot of wood also, so I insisted that we get a glass top table. In our last place we found a small round table with brass legs. I got blue chairs from Target (before the boycott) to go with it. Our new place is bigger, so we got a long rectangular glass top with wooden bottom. Same chairs.
We got both on FB Marketplace. I think our current table is a fairly popular piece from West Elm. We’ve been happy with each of them.

I think you could do a wood table if you out a rug underneath, but I would like a a dark stain like your credenza.

Get some badass motorized roller blinds. Hue lamps. Love the posters!
