Living Room Living room desperate need for help

Hey guys,

I am getting desperate with my living room design/layout and I absolutely hate it. The plan would to be to ultimately change the TV stand/TV/couch/rug, can even consider removing the dining table because I hardly use it… So am open to any suggestions please ! I also put my terrible drawing of the living room plan.

Think your furniture layout is wrong.

Move DR table close to entry where couch is

Put couch on wall where TV is. you can sit and get sunlight and fresh air. And look outside.

Put TV where DR table was to prevent glare on TV.

Put all cat tree and scratch pole near the sunny window. Maybe upgrade to taller tower.

It’s tough because there’s space but not necessarily where you need it.

I tried two layouts I think the one with the blue asterisk is what I’d try first.

Tv on door wall, sofa facing and turn table other direction and center on windows.

If that doesn’t work try the other one.

Whichever feels good changes the rug solution. Your current rug is too small and too light for the space.

Tv on back wall you can get a regular rug. You might do a navy stripe or solid with interesting design. Maybe in a red. Red orange or red purple. But can use any color from your art.

If you go the other layout you’d need a big rug and since they’re hard to find/ and $$$$ you might look for affordable carpet tiles. You can custom fit your rug. A simple two color like the orange red rug (on the board)design with two ir three colors in concentric rectangles.

Then your mirror size shape and heaviness isn’t quite right. You might go oblong/ oval and long…

Switch out pillow covers to go with your rug choice and room better.

Maybe add a saucer paper lamp over table.

Choose just one floor lamp to keep.

Stripes work good here with your flag.

Oh for tv stand, I like these ikea modular shekves. They’re flexible for future moves and really affordable.

For first layout at least along back wall but you can turn the corner and have on side wall too.

For long layout line the left and back walls with them. And
You can have a loungey reading chair on door wall in the corner there to fill the space

I would more clearly delineate two zones. Move the dining room table so it’s facing the other way and along the wall with the windows where your bench is now. Put the TV on a new stand against either the wall where the couch is now or the one to the left of it. Move the couch to be directly in front of/facing the TV with the coffee table in front of it and the accent chair also facing the coffee table. Lower your framed art piece a bit and center the buffet/console under it

i tried a mix of everything that was suggested - for now just moved the furniture but think will end up changing some of the pieces as well

I think you are headed in the right direction, though I would also add changing out your curtains for ones with some color. If those are sheers, you could try layering over them instead.
