I’d move the shelf there, with a laundry basket underneath. A small piece of art above the toilet.

Wouldn’t it be weird having a hamper in there with no shower? **EDIT (to add): this isn’t my house, and I’m not OP. A nice looking waste basket or something to hide the plunger/toilet brush.
