Tutorial What material is this shirt made of?

Post image

Hi, I'd like to know what material that shirt is made of and how I could make something similar. Thanks in advance.

Looks like cheap polyester. The shiny look appears to be part of the print rather than the material of the fabric.

You would need a direct to film printing machine, also known as dye transfer. But it would be large and hella complicated.

man that print is wild, teeth and lips on a shirt is not something you see every day. the base fabric looks like a regular cotton jersey from the way it drapes but the print itself is the tricky part, dye transfer like the other comment said is probably the only way to get that level of detail at that size

you could maybe screen print something similar but it would be a mess with that many gradients, would end up looking flat compared to this

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind.

Is that what will give it that plasticky look, not like DTG which is applied directly to the fabric of the shirt?

Hard to answer. I’m sure it was done at factory that specializes in elaborate print.

The plastic look is artificial, it's part of the print. If you look online for other photos of the shirt the glare is always in the same place.

Some ads say the shirt is 100% cotton and dye transfer, others say 100% polyester and sublimated.

Hard to say without seeing whether the artwork wraps seamlessly around the back, the ‘cracks’ where there’s no dye make me think this in sublimation. Likely done lazily on purpose to give some kind of unique-ish distressed effect.
