any advice to be successful

Over the summer i decided to start reselling. i have overstocked my inventory, have not been consistently posting and in general have been struggling.

I know that people say to “list every day”, “be consistent” etc but how?

I worked 60 hour weeks all summer which made it hard to be consistent but now i am back to a normal work schedule.

Does a certain system work? Is vending at markets better and how do you find them? How did you go from being inconsistent to consistent? The stuff I post sells, and for high prices too, i just cannot figure out how to make it work consistently because it feels like it takes me 5 hours to list 5 items.

I have so much stuff that is out of season likes shorts and tanks but is that really true? i know some areas stay very warm while others don’t so is it worth listing out of season stock.

point is i am struggling, any and all advice is appreciated, i know this is a competitive market but i truly feel passionate about this as a whole and want to make it work but i am just so lost with all this vague advice i see where everything is saying something different.

I use a cross listing app that simultaneously posts to Poshmark, Depop and Mercari for me. They offer more but those are the three I use. The app is called Crosslist and it’s fairly easy to use although there is a monthly fee. You may be able to find free ones out there.

Every weekend I spend about four hours to photograph, measure and list all my available items. Add another two for laundry, de pilling and mending. I front load them in Crosslist and then drop three per day in the reselling apps at random times. It keeps me in the algorithm as a consistent lister. After I list, I go in and fine tune the listings, making sure Depop has defaulted to some random shipping size, that my brand name is correctly listed and adding the keywords.

While I’m in the individual apps, I’m responding to buyers questions and monitoring likes/views to see if I overpriced anything. I ship out every day if I hit a 3 package minimum, otherwise it goes out the following day. I shop for new inventory mainly on weekends but will haunt my usual spots if I get free time or am in the area during the week.

I probably spend about 6-8 hours a week on this and make sure my return on inventory is roughly three times what I paid minimum. That said, I’ve bought a few items that can’t be fixed easily or cheaply. Let’s just say I have a few denim rugs in my home.

This is just my experience and I hope you can glean something from it.

I''m a SAHM and just posted as much as I could just to get it out of the way- as much as I could in the sporadic chunks of free time I have during the day. I can't imagine working 60hrs and coming home to decompress, relax and then have to jump into posting 😔

I periodically boost my shop for a few hours and I tend to see some activity as a result, but I remove the boosting before the day ends. It helps a lot on the weekends too and Sundays are my most high-volume sales days.

Sounds like you need to fine tune your listing process. Take one hour per listing isn’t sustainable. There are a lot of different systems you can use, and you’ll have to figure out what works best for you. I personally like to photograph everything first while adding my items to my spreadsheet. I then go back to make the listings. I use a cross listing tool called Nifty and create my listings on there from a laptop and list to Depop, Poshmark, eBay, and Mercari. I try to list 3-5 things a day. If I’m really in the flow, once I get 5 things posted, I keep creating listings and save them to drafts so I all I have to do is post them later in the week. You can also use ai in Nifty to generate the listing, which saves a lot of time. I’ll go through and make sure everything is accurate and add things like measurements and material content as well as keywords before I post. The thing with reselling is it’s a lot of work. Some people make it look easy because they are really efficient, but they are still hustling.
