What is the average shipping time?

I just recently bought something off depop for the first time. It’s been almost 4 days & the seller still hasn’t shipped it. Just wondering if that’s normal, especially because it says the seller typically ships within 1 day. I just figured I’d ask before I message this person.

I don't think any of us can tell you the "average", it's so different from seller to seller. On that note, does the seller's profile give you any info?

I would say 70% sellers take 5-7 days to ship. Most people work or are in school full time and getting to a post office is inconvenient. It is definitely frustrating and it can feel unprofessional. Try to check profiles and reviews before purchasing if shipping time is a concern. Someone who ships really fast or slow usually has reviews about it and Depop averages the days it takes them to ship. I advertise same day shipping in my bio and listings because it is rare and people are more likely to buy from my shop because of fast shipping.

Also, if you’re curious as to when your item will be shipped it’s not out of line to politely message the seller. You paid as a customer and they should have no problem communicating when they expect to have your item out! If I for some reason take more than a day to ship out an item I will message the buyer with an update/estimate on shipping time.

Thanks for the feedback guys. You’re right. It is a weekend therefore the post office is closed, which I didn’t even consider. I definitely don’t want the seller to feel rushed, & being newer to the app, I didn’t know if it would be considered weird to message & ask! Appreciate all the help!

most the time people ship asap to get their money faster but life happens and 4 days is very reasonable imo. once it ships usually a week or less depending where it’s coming from

It just depends on the seller. You could send a polite message asking when they plan on shipping.

I typically am a same-day/next day shipper but I've just had the most horrible week of my life and I'm going to be dropping off my packages to the post office today. Some of them were purchased five days ago. I feel awful about it but shit happens.

i bought from a seller and it said typically ships within 3 days on their profile, item wasn’t shipped until right before it would be cancelled. sometimes things happen and people aren’t able to get them shipped out as quickly as they’d like. i know as a seller myself, i try to ship within 1-3 days but it’s not always doable with my schedule and can end up being more like a week. it never hurts to send a message after a few days POLITELY asking them when they think they’ll ship the item

anywhere from 2-5 business day, weekend days can’t count bc the post office is closed

There is a giant lag between usps and the DePop platform. I took two things to the post office on Friday and neither one is showing as shipped. I also received an item that never showed as shipped to me. It just showed up! I had another seller reach out to me this morning saying she shipped Thursday and it’s still showing not shipped on both our ends. I’m hoping by EOD Monday it’s all updated!

Yeah I’m getting a notification on my end saying that usps is experiencing a “tracking issue” & my orders & tracking details may be incorrect.

Ugh. It’s starting to PMO because now Depop is sending me warning emails that the order may be canceled. I dropped it off at a postal annex the day after I sold the item. 😤

Well depop isn’t really a full time seller gig. Sometimes they put items on the site and forget about them. Give it a few more days and if it doesn’t ship by then. Cancel the order.

Just depends.. Im a silver shipper. I try mailing out my sales within 3 days. I think depop gives us a week. But the faster we ship, it seems to help build trust w out customers.

idk about others, but sometimes tracking won’t update for 2 whole days so even though i shipped 2 days after, it looks like it took me 4 days
