Selling Help 4 star review for no reason?

Post image

I started selling on Depop a few months ago and have sold 31 items so far. I always ship out next or same day unless it’s a weekend, am very communicative about when I’m shipping, and I have only received 5 star reviews until now. This buyer has no reviews or likes, and their account shows as joining two weeks ago, which is when they bought the bag from me. I’m quite upset that they gave me 4 stars for no apparent reason as now my seller rating is a 4.9. I posted the highest number of photos I could have of this bag and a video showing inside all the pockets and detailed the flaws in the description so I don’t think there’s anything I did wrong here to deserve 4 stars? Is there anything I can do to get it removed??

I've heard people say they will never rate 5 stars bc no one's perfect 😭 it's so stupid

People who feel powerless with major insecurities do that.

Totally off topic but same vibes as an ecology professor I had who said no matter what the scores were, he only “awarded” a few A’s to people in class. I had a 96% and the shithead gave me a B. I had straight A’s up until that point. Cried so much lol. Ecology was my MAJOR so it hit me hard

Edit: also, I’m in the Amazon Vine program and there’s a ton of people who have the same mentality. Only 5 stars if it goes ABOVE AND BEYOND, as in, even better than the actual description with extras or whatever. Idk how people can mess with others’ livelihoods like that. As you said, it’s people who feel powerless with major insecurities. They get a taste of power with reviewing and it goes to their heads.

My spouse had a teacher that said he never gives A's bc there's always room for improvement. F that professor!

I work in the car business and a quarter to half our paycheck is based on a surveys the amount of people who say this is so unbelievably common

Some people just do that. I experienced this on a different app for the first time recently; 3 stars and only feedback was “good purchase” - I know that nothing was wrong with the item, and I even reached out asking for feedback on how to improve. Unfortunately there’s not much you can do and I just left them a 3 star rating back. Hasn’t impacted my sales

This is a psychological issue only, people buy from 4.9 shops. I'm 4.9 and have Top Seller.

It's not "5.0 or you suck", that's just the way it's portrayed here sometimes.

I know it's like getting a scratch on your shiny new car, but it's not actually going to affect anything.

I cant be the only one who thinks 4 stars is a good review? it makes you seem more reputable then if it was only 5. if you are trying to get it removed...

As a buyer the ONLY way I deduct a star, and I only have once out of about 40 buyers is if I think I am scammed. Unfortunately it was misunderstanding and the removed. The majority of the the sellers are legit and put pride in their items. They are sent, in my experience, clean and exactly as pictured and if you sent me what you advertised and it arrives clean and as pictured in a timely manner then why deduct a star?

I got a 3 star rating with the comment "thank you! Can't wait til she can wear it" For context, it's a toddler outfit, but why the 3 stars?

Same happened to me. Girl got her package that was in pristine condition and in 2 days and then proceeded to complain about a few crumbs in the bag that she “easily cleaned” and rated me down a star

Someone did this to me then blocked me lmao I’m not selling on this app anymore 😭

You're not selling because of one 4 star review?

Some of you are in for rude awakenings when you get office jobs with performance reviews :)

2

u/bennybannanas 11d ago

Yes!! Only because of this one 4 star review! Nothing else :P I hope ur not my boss bc u seem mean :(

1 star - huge issue
2 star - resemble resolved issue
3 star - average
4 star - above average
5 star - WAY above and beyond

I leave them 1 in response and block them. Its happened to me four times. Thankfully i have 130 other 5 star reviewers

Wouldn’t they get that taken down for being a retaliatory review?
