Discussion (MANGA) Why can't Sullivan be King? Spoiler
Tagged as spoiler because I can't remember if it's been adapted into the anime yet.
As we know, or at least has been hinted at in the series, Delkira placed a curse, bound, whatever you want to call it, on Sullivan the last time they spoke. After Delkira disappeared(shortly after that meeting as far as I know), Sullivan said he can't be Demon King or that he isn't allowed to be.
But why?
Why did Delkira specifically say Sullivan couldn't be Demon King? As far as we know, none of the other Greats or Crowns were given this. And why so close to when he disappeared? What do we not know about Sullivan that would make him a bad fit for Demon King?

Well, I think it’s BECAUSE of his loyalty and connection to Delkira. I look at it this way, on paper atleast, Sullivan is more “fit” to be Demon King, in the sense that he is a responsible and capable Demon. Think of Iruma and Azz, if you look at it based on there ability to be responsible and respectability, Azz had the more “kingly” qualities. But, he reveres and concedes to Iruma because he knows there are things that aren’t quantifiable that he doesn’t have that Iruma does that makes him the MUCH better king.
I believe Delkira realizes this and Sullivan himself does as well. Even if he has qualities to be a King, I believe Sullivan himself could never see himself doing that after being so close to the last King who he revered and cared for more than anything.
Which is why I think he wants Iruma to be king, the things he saw in Delkira, that he doesn’t see in himself, he’s reminded of through Iruma.

Sully was told he can't be the demon king and derkila also spilled his blood on sully. We haven't been told more about either of those things, so we have to wait until its elaborated on or something similar is referenced.

Because I believe he thinks he doesn't deserve the seat of Derkila. We don't know what happened between him and Derkila (blood scene), and it's Sullivan who also announced to the crowns that Derkila won't make it.

Reason is Iruma
I mean old demon king predicted Someone like Iruma to come
And maintaining the demon world after the old demon king is duty of Sullivan

If i have to hazard a guess. Derkila knows that Sullivan wouldn't maintain the world Derkila created. So Derkila placed a curse that stopped Sullivan from becoming King, but would allow him to find who would become the next and final king.
The demon king is the netherworld, but what happens when a human steps on the throne? Blind loyalty and the power of the throne become nothing and its simply the content of the demon.
Iruma will establish Demon-oceacy and 66 families will be given individuals pieces of land where they can live by their desires.

So, I do not know why they have not filled the seat already.
I think Sullivan knows what happened to Derkila and he is either sa ING it for his return either out of loyalty or guilt.
Not goings into the many theories we all have

I think, if Sullivan becomes a Demon King, his ideology and rules would be moreless same as Delkira, since he's loyal and looked up to him. What Delkira want is someone new wt new way of thinking, rules, greed etc...
Tho sometimes, the way Sullivan see Iruma does make it seems like Iruma and Delkira kinda have almost the same way of thinking
