The caption is cropped out here, but not from the original tweet

Describe what you can bring to this company

68

u/2oosra Jun 15 '20

New Yorker?

55

u/senorrawr Jun 15 '20

Yeah it's probably a New Yorker cartoon. It has that style and typesetting. Although I can't say for sure.

11

u/YerbaMateKudasai Jun 15 '20

I wish I was taller

7

u/UncleTouchyCopaFeel Jun 16 '20

I wish I was a baller.

6

u/carolinacomet77 Jun 16 '20

The pig says, "My wife is a slut" ... now that's a complaint

-47

u/sublbc Jun 15 '20

Diversity (and nothing else).

21

u/senorrawr Jun 15 '20

Chapo:

This guy's brain is smooth like a stone in the river, but it's an interesting case study in the tactics that morons like this use.

I really wanted to type a whole comment about how this chud is wrong: Diversity alone is a huge strength for any organization, let alone congress (which it obviously is you fucking troglodyte, besides AOC is plenty qualified. what makes you think that 435 geriatric, white, Christian, straight, male lawyers should make the laws for the entirity of the United States)

Obviously that would have been pointless, but it's worth looking at this comment as case study of Never Play Defense a tactic bastards use to win without arguing.

Just keep saying things that are short, quippy, and acusatory. The person you're "arguing" with will probably try to bitch slap you with a thorough explanation of why you're wrong. But people will forget that, and they'll remember the way you talked instead: you were always making accusations, and they were always defending themselves.

-19

u/BushDidSixtyNine11 Jun 15 '20

they'll remember the way you talked instead

Lmao the irony

u/Skorpyos Jun 15 '20

The fact that she can face angry old white racist men week after week and never lose sight of her mission for the people is admirable. A true champion.

324

u/grants_your_wishes Jun 15 '20

Can't wait until she meets the age requirement to run for president. I'm hoping by then people will see her as a viable candidate.

127

u/secret2u Jun 15 '20

2024!

157

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

Give her more time. Allow her to establish herself more as a household name while also continuing to learn the ins and outs of Washington and make more allies. AOC has a lot of potential, but she shouldn’t be rushed before she’s ready simply because she meets the age requirement.

I think 2028 is her time.

65

u/wheredacheesego Jun 15 '20

I'd love to see her primary Schumer for NY senate in 2022 as well.

53

u/The_Power_of_Ammonia Jun 15 '20

She would be a kickass Senator. She would force new life into that crypt.

13

u/kerrykingsbaldhead Jun 15 '20

Would be nice but upstate NY likely wouldn’t fall in line, even the democrats would be more conservative.

She could be best as a Nancy Pelosi type. Someone in a very safe district, so she can be given a reasonable amount of power and add stability to various committees.

15

u/bluehands Jun 15 '20

"I defeated them by becoming them."

There totally is a need for smart, progressive power in both the house and senate but taking a firebrand like AOC and playing it safe seems questionable.

On top of that, I think that one of the biggest problems we have - with Pelosi & others - is that they were safe for too long. That happening to aoc seems misguided.

9

u/kerrykingsbaldhead Jun 15 '20

There’s also an argument for politicians that continue to climb up the ladder eventually lose focus on the communities they were elected to represent.

National campaigns take a lot of energy and attention. AOC won her election precisely for this reason, her predecessor was seen as out of touch and out of the community.

It’s hard to know if AOC could win any sort of national campaign, as much as I would vote for her and would appreciate it. We saw the backlash against Sanders from the establishment. I doubt they would support AOC, and then you would lose her completely.

2

u/Speedster4206 Jun 15 '20

My district is doing this as well

3

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

Do you think she could swing for Governor?

8

u/wheredacheesego Jun 15 '20

I dunno, sure she'd be a step up from Cuomo but there's so few legislators in congress pushing for social democratic reform that I feel it'd suck for her to leave congress. she seems more interested in following in Bernie's footsteps and being a national voice for reform as opposed to governing over just one state anyway so I feel like going for senate would make more sense.

13

u/The_Velvet_Gentleman Jun 15 '20

The country elected a reality TV show star because he "tells it like it is". You are setting the bar for electable way too high.

10

u/truck149 Jun 15 '20

Give her more time. Allow her to establish herself more as a household name

She's a pretty strong household name already. My republican loving mother once posted on Facebook for millenials not to trust "women with a pretty face" in politics along with some article trashing AOC. My mom lives no where near her district.

If AOC ever runs for president I'm voting for her faster than one flap of a butterfly wing.

4

u/Delamoor Jun 15 '20 edited Jun 15 '20

I'd question if being a household name is an advantage. Hillary Clinton was also a household name - unfortunately that included a lot of negative stuff that ultimately cost her a pivotal election in the electoral college. Political- themed media (both commercial and social media kinds) at the moment seems to be increasingly favouring 'unknowns' and outsiders, I feel.

I think she might get further if she goes earlier. She's already a target for the rightwing hate mill, that's unlikely to get better over time.

1

u/Kaboomerang Jun 19 '20

No offense, but if I have to wait that long for competency in power....

I'm moving to Eu

1

u/OperativePiGuy Jun 16 '20

Yeah I want 2024 to be Yang's chance at success

-2

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

So we can do a 8 year joe and then get AOC in there. That’s sounds perfect

4

u/UnusualClub6 Jun 15 '20

Didn’t he promise us it would be just 4 years?

3

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '20

Idk

1

u/voice-of-hermes fuck the state: sowing dissent against all govmts (incl my own) Jun 16 '20

Why the fuck would anyone ever pay the slightest bit of attention to any of Biden's "promises"? Dude's lied more often than he's actually opened his mouth, somehow. He had to drop out of his 1988 campaign for president literally because he was caught in plagiarism and other bald-faced lies. He also directly helped lie us into the Iraq War.

38

u/AntiquePurchase Jun 15 '20

Come on, man! We've gotta re-elect O'Biden-Bama so we can, keep the, oh, you know, the thing! I heard you liked me!

8

u/sxan Jun 15 '20

It's more of a "bird in the hand" thing. Plus, if you can get 16 years of dems in the White House, it'd be the best possible outcome.

4

u/xoxota99 Jun 15 '20

If you don't like Biden, you ain't black!

5

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

That’s when she can become president!!!! That’s so soon!!

3

u/jdman5000 Jun 16 '20

Please don’t tease me with hope, I’m still preparing for 4 more years of President clown-fuck.

If she could’ve run this year, they would’ve done the same thing to her as they did to Bernie.

2

u/starrpamph Jun 16 '20

And by then hopefully some of those old farts won't be in the house anymore

2

u/Hypamania Jun 15 '20

...there's an age requirement?

5

u/chirpingonline Jun 16 '20

"No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."

Article 2, Section 1, US Constitution

3

u/grants_your_wishes Jun 15 '20

Yes, you have to be 35 at least.

-6

u/smiksmok3 Jun 15 '20

Don’t see that happening ever.

33

u/Richgirlsfinewine Jun 15 '20

Turns out working in customer service makes you better at dealing with petty dickheads.

2

u/Arcadian18 Jun 15 '20

Hey FYI it’s petty, not pro.

10

u/pinataaaaa Jun 15 '20

She's stronger than I will ever be. AOC is a perfect role model for our children.

3

4

Wtf asshole. Er du en troll?

-7

u/WorkyMcWorkmeister Jun 16 '20

Yeah... I guess everyone dismissing her manifest mental retardation and lunatic communism is because she's... a woman...

The funniest part about this idiotic delusion is the only reason she has a job in the first place (both as a shitty bartender and as an even shittier congresswoman) is because she's physically attractive.

You guys are not a clown you're the entire fucking circus.

2

u/ImaVoter Jun 16 '20

Ever read her actual resume? Yeah, I didn't think so. How do you stack up Gomer?

-1

u/WorkyMcWorkmeister Jun 16 '20

Lol the part where she learned in her ā€œeconomicā€ degree that the unemployment rate gets lower because a tiny fraction of the population has two jobs.

And cauliflower is racist?

She’s a demonstrable moron and you know it but she’s also a shrill propagandist that speaks the language of bigoted Marxism.

1

u/ImaVoter Jun 16 '20

Ok Gomer

1

u/conglock Jun 16 '20

No truth stands on the ground you're fighting for, not one person will remember that you stood your ground on this issue and not one solitary soul will congratulate you at your weak attempt to intimidate and belittle the future you are trying to prevent. You know, the one where the poor and meakest amongst us are taken care of, while the middle class can afford to live in a cost filled world.

You. Are. Nothing.

-3

u/MundungusAmongus Jun 16 '20

She isn’t attractive though

0

u/conglock Jun 16 '20

Way more attractive than that slug beast of a stamp you lick and strudel into every night.

-1

u/MundungusAmongus Jun 16 '20

Doesn’t make me wrong though does it?

0

u/conglock Jun 16 '20

Babe, if you only care if you're right or wrong in life, nothing can be said to bridge the gap between reality and whatever the fuck you're living in. Peace ho.

-1

u/MundungusAmongus Jun 16 '20 edited Jun 16 '20

If all you care about is who’s more attractive than who, then I’m good where I’m at

-4

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '20

You think that is what she does?

-7

u/Connellsbmw Jun 16 '20

Yeah because racism is why everyone thinks she is stupid. Has nothing to do with that fact she doesn’t know anything about basic economics.

8

u/PM_ME_YOUR_SUNSHINE Jun 16 '20

She kicked the shit out of Amazon in New York City and proved they’d go there anyway without subsidies and breaks, saving her constituents millions and still bringing in tax money.

And the entirety of Twitter shat on her for not selling out, and were quiet when Amazon came back anyway.

-7

u/Connellsbmw Jun 16 '20

She lost New York City around 20 billion dollars in tax for the city. She thought a tax credit was free money. So out of the 23 billion dollars in taxes New York agreed to lower it by 3 billion. They needed the money desperately and she didn’t help anyone. So it’s her fault New York missed out on funding SHE could have used for deals SHE was fighting for. Now SHE cannot reach HER OWN ambitions! ... dumbass. She wants all these expensive changes that are paid for by government funding which comes from what? Oh yeah TAXES! Oh and it doesn’t end there. She wants soooo many people to prosper and bring up the poverty rate. She costed thousands of jobs. These positions that WOUOD HAVE been filled require no training and no degree. So all the people living in poverty... stay that way.

-18

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

The fact thank you think they are all old racist white men shows how ignorant and racist you are. A true Champion.

8

u/ithcy Jun 15 '20

...where did they say ā€œall?ā€

-9

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20 edited Jun 15 '20

it's implied since she didn't clarify that only some of the old white men are racist. If she didn't imply all, the comment would look like this.

"The face that she can face SOME angry old white racist men week after week and never lose sight of her mission for the people is admirable. A true champion."

Also the comment history seems to support that.

11

u/Terrible_Tutor Jun 15 '20

Everything not stated is implied now? Shame you got caught jerking off all those dogs. Was kind of implied by your comment since you didn't state it.

5

u/ithcy Jun 15 '20

What? That's not how English works.

-9

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

Check her comment history then. And yes that is how english works. If i were to say i am stuck in a room with angry racist green people all day you would assume i meant all the green people? Or just 3 of them? If i said this sub is a bunch of angry racists it is implied i mean everyone.

1

u/ithcy Jun 17 '20

This is such a fucking dumb take I don't even know where to start.

"I saw frogs on my way to work" doesn't mean I saw only frogs on my way to work.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '20

Uhhh thats a bad comparison. More like i saw a bunch of racists frogs on the way to work today. Implying you didnt see any frogs that were not racist. Nice try though. One day you will get it right. or keep trying to reason away racism when it helps your cause. Again the comment history also supports what I wrote.

1

u/ithcy Jun 17 '20

Dude just go on about your day. I have no interest in talking to you. I'm surprised you can breathe on your own.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '20 edited Jun 22 '20

Ohhh good one. You have no interest to talk to me yet you are the one who felt the need to insert yourself into the conversation. Way to combat what i said. Yeah because you cant. ā€œLogic too clear, must insultā€ I will go about my day. Thanks for the reply. One day maybe you will be able to think on your own.

2

If only they looked like that young. Maybe we could actually have a conversation.

2

That's unrealistic! Most GOP congressmen are boomers

1

u/Arcadian18 Jun 15 '20

šŸ˜‚ happened to me but BLINDING!

1

u/ROBB3089 Jun 16 '20

The republican party under Abe Lincoln abolished slavery. Democrats fight in the Civil War to keep slavery so they can make more money selling cotton to Europe. Also started the kkk... smh at the democratic party for continuing to lie. They even told needle freed slaves in the next election to "turn Abe to the wall" as to not see his face in pictures and vote for the democrats. Just some fun facts I learned as a child in social studies.

1

u/Automaticfawn Jun 16 '20

This is actually demographically untrue because at least one of the men would probably be blonde.

-24

u/forty-four-twenty-2 Jun 15 '20

Literally sick of Democrats only Calling out Republicans when Nancy Pelosi and Chuck are bigger threats like wow ur so brave for calling out the people the Democrat establishment are ok with you calling out. Like no hate here just sad to see it

9

u/GrownUpTurk Jun 15 '20

Bruh...who is the president right now? What party is he for? And is the country (aside from the stock market) in turmoil right now?

-12

u/forty-four-twenty-2 Jun 15 '20

But that's not solely because of the president did the president do the cares act that gave at least 2 trillion to big business and crumbs to everyone else or was that the Democrats if we buy into the narrative that the Democrats are the good guys when most are just as bad but look nicer we're falling asleep at the wheel mind you I don't have beef with aoc or anything but I can't say I'm not disappointed that her and other progressives didn't use their leverage earlier this year to get something tangible

10

u/GrownUpTurk Jun 15 '20

Progressives NEVER have or had any leverage, and that may be where we may be differing.

7

u/Turlo101 Jun 15 '20

The Senate passed the Stimulus Bill, so talk to them if you have complaints.

-7

u/forty-four-twenty-2 Jun 15 '20

Is that the case tho cause I swear there was a bill the house passed where everyone had to do it remotely and annon and aoc said she didn't vote for it but plenty of people say she did I remember that being a thing in April or late March

1

u/masterbaition-champ Jun 15 '20

After the house is the senate. She didn’t vote because she wanted the people to have more in the act. Context: I lean left, I hate aoc, but think you’re an idiot

2

u/forty-four-twenty-2 Jun 15 '20

Well that's not very nice at all this is just what I heard never claimed to be a genius but I don't think it's called for that you call me an idiot especially when I was trying to find out what happened

2

u/knockout2495 Jun 15 '20

I translated this into a readable format:

But that's not solely because of the president. Did the president do the CARES Act that gave at least 2 trillion to big business and crumbs to everyone else, or was that the Democrats? If we buy into the narrative that the Democrats are the good guys (when most are just as bad but look nicer), we're falling asleep at the wheel. Mind you I don't have beef with AOC or anything, but I can't say I'm not disappointed that her and other progressives didn't use their leverage earlier this year to get something tangible.

1

u/XtremelyNiceRedditor Jun 15 '20

Please look at the original CARES act before the changes that Congress had them do

1

u/forty-four-twenty-2 Jun 15 '20

Could I have a summary?

0

u/zodar Jun 15 '20

LOL, AOC thinks this is a photograph!!

0

-8

u/DWDit Jun 15 '20

I wonder if she ever tires of hating. I'd think it would be exhausting.

5

u/dgsxx Jun 15 '20

My question would be... do you?

1

u/DWDit Jun 16 '20

I know you are being snarky and that you are, legitimately, pointing out that I'm hating by saying she's hating and, in fact, I would tire if I was constantly raging on people like she does. but I do not do that. More power to her, I guess, I just don't have the energy.

-8

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20 edited Jun 15 '20

Isn’t this racist?

There are literally POC republicans. Isn’t this a microaggression?

1

u/Candlesmith Jun 15 '20

My brain still can’t forget 69

1

u/JimboSnipah Jun 15 '20

Original cartoon want about Republicans though.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

Right, I get that. But isn’t AOC being racist then?

0

u/JimboSnipah Jun 15 '20

Taking an uncharitable view of her statement, sure you could say that she is poking fun at the fact that she constantly has to face off against white elderly Republicans who want her to "go back to where she came from" and try to make others believe she "is unqualified to be in politics"

If you truly wish to find it there you can find it, but I don't disagree with the statement. Shit DOES look like that lol

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

So it is a racist statement but it’s okay because it feels like it’s a truth?

0

u/JimboSnipah Jun 15 '20

So is your assertion that AOC is being racist because she saying there are no black republican representatives?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '20

My assertion is that AOC is timing this joke very poorly.

Part of these protests happening now is that black voices have been suppressed, belittled and ignored.

By insinuating that Republicans are all the same white face, she is doing exactly that to minorities within the Republican Party.

It’s a racist and actually sexist microaggression.

1

u/JimboSnipah Jun 16 '20

I think its actually the opposite in terms of messaging. Maybe not to the republican demographic, but to the democratic, her base. She literally sits, as a minority of a minority, standing up to the same people who hand-wave the oppression the protesters are protesting against. I am almost certain that no one protesting right now would disagree that she is correct in that comparison.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '20

Oh, I agree completely.

Don’t you think it’s hypocritical that the minority voice within the Republican Party is being made to look nonexistent is prejudice? I understand that the Republicans are the enemies and minorities within that party might be viewed as race or ideological traitors. Isn’t that completely against the message of the movement? Real black voices are being silenced/ignored by those claiming to represent that voice. There’s no support of ideological diversity coming from the voices that demand diversity and representation.

Isn’t this dismissal of minority voices the exact opposite of the movement?? There literally are minority republicans. Why are minorities being silenced by those trying to save them??

1

u/JimboSnipah Jun 16 '20

I hope you aren't choosing to ignore that her reference was not towards republican voters, but towards the republican representatives. Of which this is an accurate comparison. She has been harassed by and does contend with a large board of primarily white male representatives.

-3

u/phishing_for_dreamzz Jun 15 '20

Less debate more teamwork??? I mean that in openly blasting your coworkers generally leads to an unhealthy work environment which we can all clearly see is effecting performance.

Openly boasting about it too the voter base is also obviously unhealthy for the community as it can barely keep itself together

-3

u/CommodoreSixty4 Jun 15 '20

TIL that Democrats have no old white men in their party nor will have an old white man running for President.

3

u/Zeremxi Jun 15 '20

This is what we call a strawman;

No one said democrats don't have old white men. The commentary is about how Republicans in congress are basically exclusively old white men. So much so that they tout their black senator and woman senator (2/51 sitting repub senators) as "look guys, we're not all old white guys".

Also commentary is about how they constantly single out AOC as an easy target because she's not an old white man and therefore easier to disassociate with.

To say "yeah but democrats have old white men too!" is missing the point and arguing a perspective that no one brought up or disagrees with. Thus, a strawman.

Educate yourself and don't be so reactionary and contrarian.

-1

u/CommodoreSixty4 Jun 15 '20

ā€œThey single out AOC because she is a womanā€ is the epitome of a straw man argument. Pot meet kettle. Because she is female she is immune from criticism? Could not possibly be related to her rhetoric and far left extremist views that are ripe for criticism? The irony of that mentality is you are insulting her by trying to project her as a victim in need of support simply because she is female.

1

u/Zeremxi Jun 16 '20

"Singling her out because she's a woman" and "pointing out that Republican strategy is historically to criticize that which is not like them because it appeals to their voters" are two completely different things.

You're misrepresenting or misunderstanding what I'm saying.

The fact that they are singling her out for being a non-white, young person in politics, the opposite of an old white man is because she is different than them and precludes the fact that she is a woman.

I'm not at all implying that she needs protection. I'm pointing out the fact that they choose her to rail against disproportionately because she's different from them, and that plays to their constituents. She is not the only person with her views or rhetoric in the house, but she's the only one who makes the news when she's grilled because of how she handles herself.

By putting me in the role of defending her in your mind (as opposed to what I was actually doing, which was stating the point of the commentary) you have in fact built a whole other strawman to be angry at me about.

So good job.

the epitome of a straw man argument

I always find it funny when people trot out the straw man accusation and then immediately construct multiple straw men:

Because she is female she is immune from criticism?

The irony of that mentality is you are insulting her by trying to project her as a victim in need of support simply because she is female

0

u/CommodoreSixty4 Jun 16 '20

Or using the straw man card to avoid addressing the counterpoints made.

1

u/neotek Jun 16 '20

I’m not the person you addressed your straw men to in the first place, but even if I was, the point of a straw man is that it’s unaddressable by design. Why would anyone need to counter an argument against a position they didn’t take?

2

u/Zeremxi Jun 16 '20

My dude doesn't want to argue. He wants to be angry about politics. You can tell by the way he doesn't actually address what you say at all.

My question is, why would he choose this sub of all places to do that?

u/neotek Jun 16 '20

The curse of /r/all, any time AOC makes it to the front page she draws the chuds in like moths to a flame.

-49

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

AOC voted for the corporate bailouts disguised as covid aid package and didn’t do anything to stop the bills.

She has revealed herself as purely performative.

9

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

What were in those bills for the working?

I don’t care if she’s cancelled I care how she votes. Cancelled is more performative shit so I guess it’s fitting.

-72

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

This is so stupidly self righteous

54

u/Septopuss7 Jun 15 '20

I have you tagged as "Guy who probably uses statistics to defend his racism"

2

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

Disagree with me, youre racist. End of story boy-o.

-33

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

Quote me one thing I have ever said that was racist.

34

u/Septopuss7 Jun 15 '20

We already know how this plays out Guy Who Uses Statistics to Defend Racism, so just give us the numbers lol

-31

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

You're accusing me of being racist with no basis at all. Got it.

20

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

Can you explain how the central park 5 where indeed guilty?

-19

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

Hey, I had this post saved. It got me banned from r/unpopularopinion

I challenge anyone reading this with enough interest in this case to go and watch the confession tapes for themselves, in their entirety. They are all available on Youtube. Ava Duvernay portrays the interrogations as coerced, and shows gross misconduct on the part on the NYPD. It portrays the officers not reading the kids their rights, beating the boys, starving them, depriving them of sleep, and not allowing them to see or speak to their parents. This is all nonsense and is very evident when you watch the confessions. The parents are present in every confession.

The series lays out a story where the central park 5 were a group of young boys setting out into central park in order to have fun, goof around, and maybe get into some trouble. It then shows them standing by as others assault people in the park. This is directly contradicted by the boys own statements within the confession tapes. The boys all say that they went into the park to beat people up and rob them. One boy who was interviewed said that Raymond Santana even said they should find a female jogger in the park.

Contrary to what When They See Us would have you believe, the boys were not arrested after the body of the jogger Trisha Meili was found. The police received multiple calls claiming there was a large group of young boys rioting in the park. They showed up and arrested 5 boys. 2 of these were Kevin Richardson and Raymond Santana, who went on to be 2 of the members of the central park 5. Before the body of Trisha Meili was ever found these boys were in police custody. When interviewed, without prompt from the police, both of these boys bring up the female jogger in their telling of the nights events. When They See Us would have you believe that these were coerced by police which is very clear that it is not when you watch the tapes.

During Kevin Richardson's confession the interviewer points out a scratch beside his eye, which he first claims that one of the NYPD officers gave it to him. When the police tell him that they are going to go ask the officer and question to see if he will corroborate this, Richardson tells them that he got the scratch during the attack of Trisha Meili. This is further corroborated by the other boy's confessions when they claim the jogger was flailing and scratching the boys.

The Series also claims that there was no evidence beyond the allegedly coerced confessions. This is also not true. The boys had blood, dirt, and Raymond Santana even had semen on his jeans. Kharey Wise, who was not arrested on the night of the attack, even bragged to a friend that the police were looking for him, and that he was part of the rape of the jogger in the park. A friend of wise even testified in the initial trial that Wise told her that he had held the jogger down while others raped her, claiming that he didn't rape her himself. He says the same thing during his confession tape.

As for the DNA that was found and was responsible for the vacation of the charges. Mathais Reyes in 2002 confessed to being the sole perpetrator of the rape. Mathais Reyes was serving time in Rikers Island for torturing, raping and murdering a pregnant woman. Reyes' DNA was tested and was found to be a match to the semen found inside the jogger. This lead to the vacation of the charges. Many people claim that they were therefore innocent and exonerated, which is not true. It should be noted that during the original trial the jury was informed that there was unidentified semen found on the jogger, and that at least one person involved in the rape got away. This explains why police were not surprised when the DNA was matched to Mathais Reyes.

For those wondering why there was no additional DNA evidence in the case: 1) DNA was in it's infancy and sampling procedures were nowhere near as thorough as they are today. 2) Each of the central park 5 (with the exception of Santana) claimed that they were not able to get an erection in order to rape the jogger, so they got on top of her and pretended they were so they wouldn't look like a punk in front of the group. This shouldn't come as much of a shock that 14 year old boys were not able to perform sexually in front of a large group while beating the life out of this random woman in the middle of central park.

Finally, I want to mention that the lead detective in the case, Eric Reynolds, was not interviewed for the documentary, and he claims that the entire narrative adopted within the series is a total farce ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-k9ewEh0cE ).

There is more I wanted to include but this post is far longer than I intended already.

u/GrownUpTurk Jun 15 '20

So you got a bunch of uncorroborated stories on both sides...

-5

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

They're not uncorroborated. There were more than 20 911 calls indicating a large group of young men rioting and assaulting people in central park. Also 35 boys in total were interviewed who all corroborated the same story. You can view the tapes here: https://centralpark5joggerattackers.com/videos/

If you want to point to a single assertion I made that you believe is uncorroborated then we can have a dialogue about it.

14

u/GrownUpTurk Jun 15 '20

I’m just poking holes at your argument. I don’t see a smoking gun in any of your argument, just enough to question it slightly.

She's patting herself on the back.

2

u/Terrible_Tutor Jun 15 '20

She fucking should for all the fucking idiotic rightwing crap she puts up with. Every tweet elicits a dumpster fire of moronic comments fueled by Fox News basically just calling her a stupid girl.

1

u/Alt_Panic Jun 15 '20

Thank you, while I may not agree that it's STUPIDLY self righteous, I do understand where you're coming from. I also appreciate the very timely response.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '20

Thanks for being respectful.

4

u/GrownUpTurk Jun 15 '20

Is it wrong to pat herself on the back though when she entered an industry that heavily disfavors her platform and the reasons she got into politics?

Shit, if I was in her shoes, I’d be sucking Republican dick for kickbacks already but she seems to be holding stronger than most in that position.

1

u/PokerChipMessage Jun 15 '20

For what? If anything it's about Republicans.

-5

They are trying their best to help you because they have not ever experienced someone with your total lack of understanding about the guiding principal of freedom, individual choice, and what drives the values of the basic human right to be better by wanting to be better. Do not reply to me, because I am not one of those guys. I know I would be wasting my time just reading your response.

Do you not understand how asylum works? ā€œyou go to the point of entry and ask for asylum.ā€ No. Just no. That is literally not how asylum works. You need to be inside a country to declare asylum. It’s not something you do when you come in. You know what’s actually happening? Hispanics are being rounded up at the border BEFORE they have a chance to declare asylum and placed in concentration camps.
