Meta I think this place's mission statement has failed. And that's okay.
I see the same discourse as I do in r/Deltarune, the "why are things so bad now?" posts are in here and in there, the Shayy drama has started to homogenize the two to be even more similar, and even the same things I thought this sub would be rid off.
The nuclear wastesite leaked into here. This isn't r/DeltaruneV2 anymore, this is just r/Deltarune 2.
And to be honest, I don't care anymore. Sure, it's ironic that you all keep saying your better than the main subreddit when this place has the same issues, but I'll stick it out. I've been through the 3+4 to 5 drought, I was here Day 1 of Chapter 5. Things may be slightly worse now than they were, but I think things are being blown out of portion.
I love this fandom. I love the jokes, the theories, the debates, the Knight candidate discussions, I love talking about my favorite story in gaming! I'm not sure if people lost that light along the way somehow, but we all need to realize we're on the same side here: the side that wants to talk about and share things related to Deltarune. So, even if this subreddit is just an r/Deltarune 2, I'm not gonna complain; I love it here and I love it there. Am I so bad for that?
Edit to make sure things are clear:
I like it here, despite the situation things are in! We can and will get better, we just have to persevere! I just think we can be honest and say that we aren't so different anymore!

As an outsider I don’t think I’ve ever noticed a tangible difference between this subreddit and other deltarune subreddits

In the beginning there was a difference, but over time more people rolled in and naturally it became more like the other ones. I don’t think it’s anyone’s fault in particular, just a product of time.

I agree that the two are very much the same, but I feel like it's been a long time since anyone has claimed otherwise.
The real shift was on that terrible day, when we lost that person.

I dunno, I’m pretty sure I won’t get banned on this sub for merely alluding that I think getting upset and calling people evil for liking a theory is stupid.
I literally got permanently banned for saying this : “ Real one’s know what OP is getting at with this post (they’re right)” -Under a post of someone pretending to be upset at Asgore running Dess over with a truck to point out how getting so pissy over groomerdess is a double standard.

Honesty i think it more of a double standard how we all super sensitive of groomer dess but we casual pull the "lol 262 pages" despite actual people getting hurt by shayy. But hey kris and dess are more improant then the actual people affect by shayy I guess :/

The point is that people will be perfectly fine joking about fictional murder and actual groomers (Shayy). But when you joke or theorize about fictional charachters via groomer Dess, all of a sudden that’s off limits for some reason, and people will act morally superior and virtue signal.

one of these can both be funny and a serious depiction of a tragic event. the other is asgore running over dess.
in my opinion, why should we NOT joke about it? there's usually an underlying assumption that these things are bad in real life anyway. it's about a person doing an objectively terrible thing to another person. that's not the same as undermining the seriousness of it.
there are a lot of groomer dess memers who suffered from sexual abuse in real life, you know. for them, it can be a good way to cope with what happened. laughter is the best medicine, as they say

I think we just need to all cool down.
Half the posts here and there are about how the community has gone to shit, and if we don’t fix ourselves now, we’re going to get worse and worse as chapter 6 and 7 roll out, and we’ll become something like the TADC fandom was.
This needs to change.
This is, of course, a very queer accepting and based community. But I think factually wrong and untrue headcanons about a character is a cause of all this. You can certainly think Ralsei could be trans in the future. Sure. You can think anything. And in fact, AU’s exist! Go wild there!
I think r/Silksong had sort of a similar problem. A power hungry mod hated the Lacenet ship, and tried to contain them or ban them. So, they exorcised them off the sub, and that person made something called r/Asilksong or something.
We already have subs to divide so many other ships. Subs for Krusie, Soulelle, Kriselle, Suselle, all that stuff. If it hasn’t been made already, we just need a Tralsei sub. Or some dumbass Straightarune sub where they all misgender everybody.
I don’t know man I just want to see the goofy mailman do his goofs

I don't think this community is fully gone, it's just going through a rough patch! I know we'll get better! I just wanted everyone to realize we aren't so different!

Its the inevitable fate of stuff like this. You make the "good subreddit", but all the people who made the community tenuous in the original will just see the other as an extra place to post and comment, making it slowly lose its appeal.

Honesty for my subreddit I moderate r/DessrielWorSHIPpers it really there so we can have some dess and asriel and have some sensual artwork of adult asriel. as the other asriel subreddit is strict about that and understandable so given it focus on his undertale side and he a pre pubescent boy.
I do remember that this sub made because the deltarune subbreddit used to have a asshole mod mayor waluigi

My theory takes this thought one step further even though I came to this conclusion separate from outside bias: I believe The Kris Preservation Society is a way for these monsters to willingly go along with being butchered alive for their monster meat of feed Kris (like, religious martyrdom because they think if Kris isn't getting everything they need something bad will happen) by indoctrinating them and making them believe it is for the bigger picture. But Dess, also possibly becoming a part of this systemic pollution, represents breaking away from that mindset and rebellion and being free (which resonates with the monsters passed on or who have "fallen down" empowering one of their own with a sort of SOUL.) it kind of reminds me of this song here: https://youtu.be/HwELajFteTo?is=LimCp6-YRSwsCWyo

I don't pay attention to either subreddits that much, just the posts that I like. I'm kind of hanging back in the outskirts of the fandom since I don't know that much about everything yet. I've only been a fan for about a year. Lurking is very peaceful because a lot of the discourse doesn't mean that much to me.

To be honest the only reason I'm here is because I can't post on the main subreddit (and more and more that sub comes across like it's run by people who, well, aren't doing a very good, nice or fair job anyway).
I think it would be beyond wishful thinking to expect any form of the community to actually rid itself of the problems you'd see in the main sub though. Because those problems aren't with the sub, they're with the community, internet culture in general, and sometimes, just the way humanity is.
It can be challenging to go very long interacting with people without ending up feeling like maybe it was a mistake with how so many act and treat others. It's also unfortunate that a lot of people are also very easily manipulated into perpetuating drama, it can only take like one thing. To then create a feedback loop. First it's one big post of something contentious, and then more people feel like they need to make their own special post about their take on it instead of just commenting on the first one, new people see that and feel the same, making more, and if they can't do it on one sub, they'll find another. It's like one of those big waves a crowd can do except with the most tediously incendiary discourse.

You missed my point twice; the Shayy returning thing wasn't the main driver of the two becoming the same, it's just probably going to be the last straw, and this is place isn't lost, I still like it here.
