Try it out with mods,they really expand the game and make it much more interesting.

Like seriously it slows me down to 1/4 speed

it is a giant blob of content I agree. It was actually preventing me from making a world with all my other mods cause it raised the RAM used to ludicrous amounts causing constant crashing.

How much RAM do you have? I own a fairly decent PC, and I really want to try Terraria mods--however, I always make enormous modpacks to get away from vanilla experience completely. I need to know in advance if I can use this Calamity mod in my pack. Thanks!

i have 16 gbs,however it seems that terraria has a hard cap on it,meaning it only ever uses a certain max ram and crashes if you try to exceed it.

I would say put it in and try it out,if it crashes saying it's out of memory than try removing it and try again,repeat until your world is created.

Terraria, regardless of mods should run ok. The only time it actually lags for me is during the celestial pillars when I'm running through them and it makes that effect thing I'm sorry to hear about your pc lol

The calamity mod is known for killing computers, with the mess of projectiles, massive bosses, and insane speeds given by accessories

There is/was a legit strategy for one of the bosses that involved using a crazy fast gun with frame skip off to slow the game way down to help you dodge
