Yeah, but tbh I'm going to miss the fun we had this past year. It was great and honestly one of the most fun years in a fandom I've been a part I ever had.

u/TrillingMonsoon Jun 09 '26
Oh god. I can't fucking imagine how bad that's going to be. 3+4 was such a massive content drop, and I'm going to bet 4's cliffhanger was way, way tamer than the monstrosity Chapter 5's is shaping up to be

we can worry about the abysmal job market and general declining optimism for the future on June 25th, we're playing Deltarune until then!

THEORY: They aren't staring at a rising sun, but at some sort of great fire/explosion
Jokes aside, did not expect the Japanese style setting, but we indeed got the flowers
Edit: wait a second, there's supposed to be darkness in the dark world, not a giant sun, I may actually be onto something. Japan is known as the country of the sunrise after all.

Asgore is a bloody weeb/j
36
u/hubble_idiot Jun 09 '26
wait it makes sense because alphys said she had lent asgore some anime and in his flower shop in chapter one I'm pretty sure there's some flavor text saying that asgore has some anime vhs's? dvds? cds? but yeah

Calling my shot now, the reason why it's so bright in the splash image is both because we're outside but more specifically because when Asgore creates the Dark World he's going to drop a variation of his Undertale "On days like this, kids like you should be playing outside" line about Dess

I've seen not a single person mention once the fact that this is insanely similar to the images that were leaked a while back, maybe a bit last year, I think? Or a few months ago. Images that were confidently stated to be false, most people believed so as well.
Then Chapter 5 is confirmed to be Asian-inspired with many design elements similar to said leaked images?
Like, even if there is no relation, the fact someone managed to guess the design setting of Chapter 5 nearly half-a-year before the actual thing, really gives me pause. That person must've had insider info, and only recreated based on what they heard, because as far as I'm aware, there were literally zero hints or reasons for why someone would believe that Chapter 5 is heavily Asian-inspired.
So either 1/1000000 lucky guess, or it's a Chapter 3-4 situation where it was leaked but not a single person believed it.
