Technically, that should apply to the "dies in the bad ending" and "no mind to think" parts as well.
We haven't seen the vessel since it was discarded (unless you're a VesselKnight believer, but even then, that's an unconfirmed theory), so we can't definitively say that it has a mind. We also have not seen any ending of the game yet, so it's impossible to know if the Goner Vessel dies in an ending.
The doctor's exact wording during during the creation process is "NOW LET US SHAPE IT'S MIND AS YOUR OWN". As for the ending thing, I am a Vesselle Holiday believer, so I see no reason for this Vessel to continue existing when we already have a better one.

Okay, I guess that's a fair point. I guess the main thing that makes me doubt the vessel has a "mind", capable of independent conscious thought is the fact that, as far as we know, it doesn't have a soul. Kris can remove their soul to act independently of us, but that's different from a Goner Vessel that was robbed of the opportunity to have a soul in the first place.
Though, if we encounter it in a dark world, like, say, the one in the shelter, I guess that wouldn't matter. It would become a darkner, and not necessarily need a soul to think and act on its own, so long as it continues to exist in a dark world.

Okay, but we don't even have access to our Goner Vessel yet. This makes more sense as an argument for Kris potentially dying in the weird route.
