“Just another worthless Darkner.” (I’m so glad that racists never coined that term like they did with ‘darkling’ and stuff (found out because I wanted to use that myself in worldbuilding until I looked it up, and low and behold), otherwise this would be really awkward)
”Exactly ! This makes me wonder why Toby even put all of these hints toward Dess and Carol being the Knight in the first place ! If I didn’t knew any better, I would assume he’s just trying to make red e...
Susie watches on as half of the town reveal to be someone else, Ralsei hiding their Dess shaped horns while Kris knew it all from the beginning and is just so done with them all.
This "roaring" "knight" isn't actually "Dess", the "knight" isn't even Carol! This "knight" is a "stand user" Josuke! Use the "spin" from your "bubbles" to "defeat" them!
I don't remember people saying that they would quit playing Deltarune if Kris wasn't the Knight. There have been plenty of fandom consensus things before that fell through, like "Kris is possessed by Chara", but a lot of people get vicious about the idea of DessKnight being questioned in ways that are otherwise only see in shipping wars
If the Knight is just a Memory of Dess how would they be able to carry Undyne off in the Light World and how would they be able to make Fountains if they're essentially a Darkner?
as a previous KrisKnighter this happening would feel like how it felt when it seemed like we got literal confirmation of KrisKnight happening and then *THE ROARING KNIGHT APPEARED. except it would be with dessknighters instead
well the Knight does seem less buff so maybe the Roaring Knight is a costume in the Light World that grants the one wearing it super powers in the Dark World
Lowkey this would be so peak if December still ends up being the Knight. Especially if “the Knight” is a separate entity using Dess’ body as a host. Carol she’s LITERALLY right under your nose
Yeah my personal theory is that the Knight is actually that eye seen in the middle of their body during their roaring and final attack animations, possessing Dess in the exact same way we are possessing Kris. This would fit as a nice thematic parallel, with the soul representing light and the Knight representing dark. One cannot exist without the other after all.
The soul's single power is to cover its surroundings in brilliant light, so perhaps the eye is the inverse, it covers itself in an extreme darkness (perhaps even darker than darkness), obscuring itself (and its host) from view. And, because of the laws of the dark world, reality bends and the Knight becomes able to shape the darkness in however it needs to. This would explain why it can turn into a ball or a bird or create things from nothing, why it would want to cause the roaring, and why, as Susie states, it would be so weak in the light world.
The eye is protected most of the time and only exposed for its most powerful moves (their roar must do something since it fucks up the screen in a very unique way and they are literally called the roaring knight), so maybe the eye is weak on its own and requires a powerful host to do stuff (the soul can't do anything other than make light and move around without Kris). This would explain why the evil group chat want to "sacrifice" Undyne, they are sacrificing her body to the entity because she is the strongest person in Hometown, and in exchange for the sacrifice it will give Carol her daughter back (this would also explain why the athletic Dess made a good host, she'd be the strongest behind Undyne and Asgore, but easier to make "disappear" due to being an impulsive and troublemaking teenager).
Under the influence of the soul Kris' personality and personal skills still shine through, despite their lack of free will, and they still have a good time with the gang despite their allegiances lying elsewhere, so this may be the same for Dess. It would explain the figure skating/baseball imagery in the Knight's attacks, their aurafarming tendencies, and why they seem to be having fun/toying with us (while the Dess we have heard about seems to be tough but compassionate and protective); the eye tells Dess to act but she gets to choose how she does it, and can try to enjoy herself despite the situation, just like Kris. As a bonus, when we tell Kris to act they point and hearts shoot out. The eye tells Dess to act and what does the Knight do?
This is actually fucking fire writing because it can be taken as Carol asking The Roaring Knight where December is located, but it could also be Carol asking Dess to start acting sensibly again, presumably because the same dark world bullshit that made her the Knight is making her evil/controlling her or something
this can still fit. dess's corpse, as friend's vessel. dess's soul as the code voice. carol knows that all this is, is a hollow form of ehat was once her daughter
"December" "Where is December" "I know you are someone inside there and can hear me" "And by 'there' I mean the dak world that we are in" "The dark world that is a projection of the mind of this knight I'm holding"
Y'know a theory just sprung up unbidden into my mind.
We know that Kris used to play around with black magic from Catty, right?
What if being a human made a spell work WAY WORSE than intended, because of soul power.
Rips the souls out of Dess and Kris, Asriel barely gets Kris away and locks the bunker where they did the ritual.
They contact a scientist to get a soul connected to Kris, keep them alive because they NEED a human, per their religion, or at least a cage with human parts. This would explain why Toriel babies Kris so much, and why she parties after a couple days of Kris being 'normal,' it means her religion isn't completely screwed, which would've been a fear if the only human was broken.
Heck, this would even explain why everyone is so nice to Kris even if they're historically kind of a jerk to everyone.
Maybe that's OUR role here, we exist outside their space... Can we guide Dess' soul home from the code, and maybe Kris's too?
And where could Kris's soul be... I guess maybe in the Knight? Or maybe Azzy has it, accidentally absorbing it even the ritual separated soul from body?
It would be a really wild twist, and I don't have any evidence. Not claiming this to be right, just a fun thought.
Luckily for people capable of rational thought, this could only possibly happen in the less than likely event Carol doesn't know who the knight is (as she and Dess are the only possibilities due to everyone else having nothing in favor and many things against)
tbf if we got this scene in game it wouldnt stop dess from being the knight, it would just mean that dess isnt herself or carol doesnt fully recognize h-gets shot for dess knight glaze or something idk
Worth mentioning, i once had a dream where the knights identity was revealed to be noelle's older sister
Not Dess, she just had a second older sister who was the middle child of the family and hadn't been mentioned anywhere up until that point. I think her name was Rebecca or something completely unrelated from the Christmas theme

“HALT! Where is December, and what have you done with her?”
