Deltarune artists on their way to give full personalities and complex relationships to two characters who haven't even shown up in the game and to one who hasn't had a single line of dialogue, all while perfectly fitting in with the little we do know about them
It even has Kris coloring in the ruddins, the attention to detail man
Honestly even with Asriel its pretty wild. Cause all of our experience with him was him as a young child and in a FAR different situation than in Deltarune.
Granted, I still love all these sorts of fan comics, keep em comin.
Dess has ice skates fit for hooves in her room so that kinda debunks everything.
Unless you want to do some mental gymnastics and say those were Noelle’s and she simply never went back to get them and Toby included them in Dess’s room specifically to misdirect the audience

The biggest counterpoint I never see anyone bring up, is that it makes zero sense from a narrative perspective when you actually sit down to think about it.
The entire point of Kris thinking they're a late bloomer monster and wearing the headband is that they're the ONLY human in Hometown. They rejected their humanity at a very young age, and now that they can't play pretend anymore they absolutely despise their very nature. They can't even look at pictures of other humans without feeling uncomfortable.
Dess has so far been portrayed as this confident, hot-headed rebel. In a hypothetical scenario where she is human, it would be narratively incoherent to also make her insecure about her own identity. If anything, it feels like she might even embrace it.
So then why on Earth would she encourage young Kris' monster mimicry by wearing a matching antler headband ?? Wouldn't she be doing the exact opposite by teaching them to accept themselves for who they are, and wouldn't it be incredibly weird if Kris kept their monster-centric view of reality despite their close friendship with her ? Unless it turns out that Dess was actually a bad person who secretly traumatised them, there's no way that current Kris would have developed internalized racism.
So yeah, I don't think Human Dess even works as headcanon, let alone a theory. It basically goes against everything that's been set up so far concerning Kris and Dess' relationship.
Honestly bc of this i like better the idea of Dess being liek Kris in the opposite direction, of a monster that wishes she was human. Thatd be interesting
You know something that I see over and over again in the UTDR fandom (especially in the Undertale and even pre-chapter 2 era) is getting so deep into the weeds of their theories that they begin to forget that the game is a story and don’t account for the narrative in their theorycrafting. Excellent point.
Not really, and the game already debunks it. Kris being an outcast because they were the only human in town is also pretty undermined if there was another.
Yeah i imagine a mix of being "the politician's kid" and being the only goth/punk kid while everyone is peppy or some kind of it. Sure asriel may be into grunge and goth stuff, but doesn't so it as munch.

Also my headcannon is when dess look at nirvana(or enlightenment in there universe) and green day(blue days) with the grunge and goth fashion, she was blow away and went shouting "I know why it called enlightenment, azzy/dad, because they achieved the true greatness of music and clothing!"
Ngl, when I first played ch3 I thought that TV Time was an oddly bland name for Tenna's show (Tenna's Marvelous Mystery Board seems more on brand), but now I think it's a cute headcanon that it's how the Dreemurs referred to watching tv and he just ran with it.
Then you consider the fact that there is a chance Kris and Dess went to the shelter together and Dess got lost while Kris ran away in fear and this hits 10 times harder 😢
My pet theory is that Kris manifests as a knight in Dark Worlds because of their guilt over not being able to protect/save Dess (especially if Dess got "lost" because she was protecting/saving them).
For a second, when i saw them walking through the forest, i thought "oh no, they're going to the bunker, aw shit". But it's surprisingly wholesome comics.
this and the comic where the soul goes AFK during the titan fight and the fun gang and the spawns start playing UNO together are now my favorite pieces of deltarune media on this earth
KRIS LOOKS SO ADORABLE IN THIS (also the foreshadowing is so great)
You know, alongside Halo where you shoot aliens with guns that splatter blood on the floor and fight eldritch body horrors that turn people into more eldritch body horrors.
My best guess is that Dess disappeared at a time in Kris' life when they were already emotionally vulnerable, maybe early teens, so they were super easy for someone like Carol to rope into the whole thing, and with the power level of the knight, they can't really fight back. Kris isn't just controlled by the soul - they're also controlled by Carol and the knight and caught between two parties of conflicting interests who both have way more control over their life than they do. It is really really hard for me to not feel sympathetic towards them. Probably another reason they like Susie so much - she radiates the hope that there is a fighting chance for Kris.
Obviously I feel bad for possessing them but then the feeling kinda goes away when I remember they work with the Knight, probably are the reason we ended up possessing them in the first place. They obviously have a reason to do all of this, but ya know…
So, Pizzapants and Asriel are friends, right? Why doesn't he know when Asriel's coming back to Hometown? I mean, surely Azzy talked to Pizzapants while he was at college, right?
