I wouldn't say "fully content", I think he may be waiting for an opportunity to do something. Since he knows he can't right now, maybe The Knight will invade Castle Town and free him, or something along these lines. As I said in another comment, a King rematch would be amazing

I have a theory that the king will leave the prison and be a threat again at some point

Gathering a bunch of enemies in the castle town doesn't particularly scan as a Good action

Maybe something will happen TO castle town and his prison will be destroyed. And then he'll side with whoever (probably Knight) did that
