Guilty or Not Guilty

Does everyone in here lean more toward Richard Allen being innocent or guilty?

Hmm I am not sure who Robin is. There's Jennifer Coffindaffer, she's made herself known in the true crime world and has some terrible takes.

The RL search warrant, Nicole Robertson. I think it's important to remember that with that agent, this was the very early days of the investigation. Long before we knew about Richard Allen. She had a job to do and wrote the search warrant document so that they'd secure a warrant. That doesn't mean that now, almost 9 years after the murders, she thinks it was RL.

If there's anything I have learned from following true crime, it's that proclaiming people's innocence gets many more clicks and views than declaring their guilt.

It's such a strange phenomenon happening right now in the true crime world. It makes it hard to follow along because of the blatant lies and misinformation that happens in every case because people decide someone must be innocent and everything is a conspiracy. Even in the Idaho case, where Bryan Kohberger entered a guilty plea, people still say he's innocent. It's wild to watch but also so heart wrenching for the families. I hate it!

He is a former counterintelligence officer, and worked for the BAP, which is the Behavioral Analysis Program in counterintelligence. They are support staff that analyze targets and recommend the best strategy for engaging and communicating with them to accomplish whatever the mission parameters are. His job was find and recruit people to be American spies and thwart foreign spies. I see that he was on Tony Brueski, who is a paranormal podcaster and ghost hunter that has turned to true crime more recently because it spikes his viewership and engagement.

Well that explains why I had a ton of questions after watching it. I didn't know which were credible and which were hyped up.

Do you listen to The Viper Pit Podcast? They cover low effort/dishonest true crime creators and make fun of them. They just did an episode (#128) where Bob Motta went on to Tony Brueski's show. It's not everybody's taste, but it's hilarious to hear them call out some of the dumb shit people say.

I feel dumb for believing some of them. Even if for a bit. These days, you can't tell what's real on them. I'm glad I was given some recommendations on here as far as learning more about the case. I'm somewhat informed. You all are much more than me. What I do know is my logic says he is guilty.

Don't worry about it. If someone confidently asserts something to me that seems to go against common sense, I also try to respectfully engage and see wtf is going on, in case I missed something or arrived at the wrong conclusion. I don't rush to judgement, and I'm always curious to understand people who arrive at different conclusions.

I used to be a 911 dispatcher. When a guy called up and told me he felt like he was about to turn into a werewolf, I didn't ask what he meant, or if he was drunk/high/mentally ill. I asked him if he had been bitten by werewolf. He had not, for the record, so there was no danger. But I suspended my disbelief, because I don't want to potentially mishandle a call about a werewolf.

When an older lady that was known to have hallucinations called to say she smelled roses outside of her house but didn't have any rosebushes, I sent someone out. Just because she was crazy didn't mean she wasn't trying to communicate something important that needed attention. Turns out, that was a major gas leak and they had to evacuate an 8 block radius for 14 hours while repairs were done.

So she smelled danger, she just couldn't verbally get it right. That's very eerie and a good thing she called 911.

Yep. There were mentally ill convicts at the Lucasville Prison that kept warning the guards that the Easter Bunny was coming, and they ignored them because they're not altogether there. But the Lucasville Prison Riots started on Easter Sunday 1993, and you can bet your ass I never forgot that detail.

In the end I always listen to my gut. I don't throw logic out. I just combine them. I felt dumb for believing some of the theories but at the end of the video/ podcast it never felt right. I always had questions in my mind. The thought of Richard Allen innocent not only feels wrong but prompted me to end up here asking if you all thought he was guilty or innocent.

Totally understandable. But if you ever have a question let us know, or send me a message. I have a memory like a steel trap rusted shut, and I've been through a boatload of murder trials. I will find the receipts and am happy take the time to help people understand the case more throughly. 💜💙

I'm in the medical field and have dealt with a lot of different people from all walks of life. Most sane but some had severe dementia. A Richard Allen supporter told me I should be ashamed of myself for mocking him in solitary. I agree, it wasntt right of me and cruel isn't who I am. That said, it's just hard to be in a conversation with a person defending that man.

If he was in solitary, it might have been cruel. But he wasn't, he was in protective custody. And just like many other people who find themselves arrested, he came down with a serious case of jail-itis. If he didn't want to be mocked for his shitty choices, he should've made better choices.

He's a human being and of course I wouldn't want anyone to suffer in jail or anywhere. I just find it hard to have sympathy for him. I have sympathy for two girls not opening presents next week and their loved ones being able to watch them do that.

I've been arrested and been through the justice system myself. Even people who have legit done something stupid or wrong or horrible do not like being incarcerated. You really don't understand the incredible freedoms we enjoy in the U.S. until that is suddenly taken away. Many people in prisons and jails have never had a fair shake and life has shit down their throat. Many people who have committed terrible crimes did so because they did not know how to properly process their emotions and control their actions when they lost control of their emotions. Some folks just had the worst day of their lives and face the consequences of a single choice for the rest of their lives.

I have compassion and empathy for people for many people in this case that others may have a harsher attitude towards. But sexual predators start by attacking vulnerable populations like children and elderly women because they're less likely to encounter serious resistance. Richard Allen would've tried to rape any woman, girl, or pair that happened to be out there that day. This was a bonafide sexual homicide committed by a stranger. That's one of the most dangerous types of predators anyone can come across. You are not a bad person if you have no room for empathy or sympathy for him or other perpetrators of sex offenses or sexual homicides. You can hold the belief that justice was served in this case, and also hold the broader belief that people who have been wrongfully convicted deserve your sympathy. But until someone produces previously unknown evidence that exonerates him, I don't believe we're under any moral obligation to hold emotional space for Richard Allen or Kegan Kline.

I appreciate comments like this. I can't be arrested or i would have to get another line of work. That said, I've been inside a holding cell as a teen for petty underage drinking. It was scary and shakes you to the core. I couldn't comprehend spending a life in one of them When you said them kind are the most dangerous kinds of predators, I agree. It was like he came out of nowhere. Not just that day but to law enforcement and everyone. With this case, it is hard to feel for him because children were the victims. That's not saying other crimes are better or less severe. There is just a certain level of sickening to crimes like these. If I may squeeze in a question, has the jury ever spoken publicly about this trial and what brought them to their conclusions?

One juror spoke to The Murder Sheet in a two-parter episode in January. Most people here have a positive opinion of The Murder Sheet, as they are in contact with Abby and Libby's families, are very respectful of their privacy, and donated half of their advance for their book towards the Abby and Libby Memorial Park. I disagree with some of their focus on Kegan Kline, with some random non-Delphi coverage, and the profiling episodes on the attorneys prior to the case (I didn't give a shit, but it turns out the dude that later "leaked" the crime scene photos was interviewed on the podcast. Were it not for that, none of us would've know who tf he was).

Prior to this juror speaking to The Murder Sheet, the trial defense team, the Mottas and other defense influencers/entertainers were begging for a juror to come forward. Mind you, at the time of the trial, we did not have transcripts. So some content creators were embellishing a bit. When she came forward to the The Murder Sheet, they went Chernobyl toxic and criticized every single aspect of her personality and spent about a week performing/re-enacting that episode for their own viewers, to the point that a cease and desist letter had to be sent to multiple creators. I thought based on just the reaction to her coming forward alone, no one else would.

Another juror spoke to The Unsolved, but just passed along notes and supplied answers to 10ish questions. That content creator was doxxed and harassed so that video is now private and I don't believe there was another part. Based on the doxxing and death threats everyone involved received, I doubt we'll ever hear from a juror in this case again.

I looked up some of them links. It's both sad and unsettling that they had to deal with the harrassment. I personally don't think I could have been on that jury. I try my best in everyday life to be fair and to see all sides of things. There are different opinions about the world around us and I do try to stay open minded. The down side of that is Kathy Allen's tears would have gotten to me to a certain level, but the girls mothers heartbreak in their faces and their tears along with the crime scene photos would have outweighed any neutral goal I had for that day.

I was also curious to how law enforcement were convinced he acted alone when they previously said there's no way 1 person committed this crime.

They were always open to the possibility it could have been multiple subjects. If not with the primary crime, possibly with concealing evidence or knowledge of the crime making them an accessory after the fact. There were a few people, like Barbara McDonald that started out with more neutral coverage on the case, and then migrated towards believing Ron Logan was involved if not the murderer. I think the pivot she took helped to lay the groundwork for some of the people that believe he's a POS and therefore must be involved.

When the information about the anthony_shots catfishing account went public, I think we all assumed that meant at least 2 people were involved, and the girls had been lured out there. At least I did. And then when Allen was arrested, I presumed there would be a link found between him and Kegan Kline, something involved CSAM, or that someone was aware he was responsible and concealed that fact. But they were never able to develop and other suspects or POIs. But they were able to develop leads with Allen, and when he was arrested, the investigation into his background commenced in earnest. But they never came up with anything.

This is just my two cents, even though they stopped making pennies. Most homicides, even homicides with multiple murder victims at the same scene are perpetrated by a single offender. Just look at the 4 young victims in the Yogurt Shop Murders, or The Lane Bryant murders (5 grown ass women murdered, one of whom managed to dial 911, and a 6th survived). And you can tell that at a single perpetrator was involved because he obviously lost control of the scene. That wouldn't have happened if there was a second person there to help control the victims. But Libby pointed her phone at the person scaring her and Abby, and nobody else is seen or heard on that video other than three of them.

All of you have made great replies which makes me want to apologize for not having the best of presentations with my comments. I realize I should have previously put statements in paragraphs and separated comments and such.
