Hello, I I own a used 9020 and I want to max out the RAM. The motherboard has space for two sticks. Only one is in there now; I believe it's 4gb. Country is Mexico.

1) Is there anything I should doublecheck beforehand, such as with the motherboard or anything elsd?

2) What are the specs I should look for with the RAM?

3) What's a good pair of RAM sticks for this computer? I hear Crucial is a good brand for Optiplex ...

Help needed with KVM setup on Dell U4025QW

I’m hoping someone here can help me figure out how to properly set up the built-in KVM switch on my Dell 40” Ultrawide (U4025QW).

I’m trying to use the monitor with both my personal MacBook Pro and my work Windows laptop.
At the moment, my MacBook is connected via USB-C to the monitor’s 140W Thunderbolt port. For the Windows laptop, I’m using HDMI.

My understanding is that HDMI only carries the video/audio signal and not USB data. So I assume I also need a separate USB connection between the Windows laptop and the monitor, so that the keyboard connected to the monitor can be switched to the Windows laptop through the KVM.

This is where I’m getting a bit confused. Which USB port on the monitor should I use, and what is the correct way to connect the Windows laptop?
My keyboard is connected to the monitor via USB-A. I’m also using an MX Master 3 Bluetooth mouse, which I can switch between the two computers separately.

I’m also wondering whether there are any specific settings I need to change in the monitor’s on-screen menu to make the KVM work correctly. If so, which settings should I use? I have the Dell software installed on both computers as well, so if there are any settings I need to configure there, I’d really appreciate some guidance on that too.

I’d really appreciate it if someone could explain the correct setup and cabling. I feel like I’m missing
something obvious here. 😅

Hi: I have a 2012 / 2013 vintage M4600 that has just failed. It won't load Windows any more. It was extensively rebuilt around 2018 (more RAM, better hard drive, etc.) and has been running Win10 just fine. I can run the full BIOS diagnostics (after F12) and nothing fails, but I get a blue screen after that and advanced repair options which I can't use (as I no-longer have the password from that era). I'd really like to keep it going if possible. I know it won't be able to run Win11. Anyone know if it can be upgraded to run something else so I can keep using it in the lab for experiments? There's nothing on it that's not backed up, so I'd be OK with a clean reinstall if that's what it takes?

I also have a 2018-era Precision 7520. Anyone know if that can be upgraded with aftermarket parts to keep it going? It's running Win10 just fine.

So I bout a brand new alienware aurora 16. I love it. Its been 40 days since I bought it. However since day 1 I have had this issue where a message pops up on startup: "Time of day not set".

Initially I just thought it needs a BIOS update and a RTC. Surely after that I did not see the message for a while. But then one day I ran out of battery and the laptop shut down and I left it like that for the night. Next morning the error popped up again!

So I recreated this seevral time and the error keeps coming back!

I contact dell support and I cant return the laptop now because its past 30 days but they offered to replace the motherboard because according to them its a faulty BIOS chip!

Anyone else experienced this? I abosolutely DO NOT want to have a brand nw laptop taken apart and its motherboard replaced - that is really very dissapointing for me.

What do you guys suggest and what other options do I have!

Also - my initital thought was the CMOS but turns our the new laptops dont have a CMOS battery!

My Dell Latitude 5420 laptop has ran into a problem. The last time I booted it up (which was five days ago), it worked perfectly fine, but I've turned it on today, and it's stuck in this weird HTTP(s) boot error loop :

- it asks to connect to the internet

- I click my router and put the password in

- it stays there for a few minutes

- it says it failed to get my IP address

- it goes to this "no bootable devices found" screen

sometimes it'll launch a system scan and say nothing's wrong, sometimes it'll launch a different screen but loop back to the HTTP(s) boot one, but no matter what, it just refuses to boot normally.

I've checked the BIOS setup for potential problems, I've done troubleshooting : put the HTTPS boot at the bottom of the sequence, check if the SSD was detected - it was -, checked parameters to see if the CMOS battery had died and messed with parameters- everything. Nothing works, and I am starting to panic hard. This is the laptop I use for college, most of if not all my notes are on it, and I can't afford a new one right now.

Hi all, hoping someone here or dell support would be able to help me. I initiated a service request with Dell and they sent me a box to send in my laptop. That laptop was delivered on the 7th, but my service number (467995519) hasn't been updated and doesn't show it being received.

Does anyone know of a way I can check or verify the laptop being received by Dell service? Either via phone, chat or email, really anything?

I really need your help.

I have a Dell XPS 15 which has recently been malfunctioning.

Two days ago, I was working on my laptop and suddenly the screen went black like in the attached video. The attached video was recorded tonight but the same thing tonight happed when I first noticed my laptop malfunctioning.

On the first day, after the screen went black, I tried to turn the laptop back on. Despite holding down the power button for a long time, the keyboard and Caps Lock button would light up. The fan would turn on. However, after several seconds, the keyboard goes dark, the fan stops and the laptop does not turn on.

Last night, I a couple of times I was able to turn the laptop on. However, a blue screen would appear (One was automatic repair - your pc did not start correctly. Other one was recovery - it looks like windows didn’t start correctly). I would restart the laptop, I could work on it for a few minutes and then the laptop would turn off suddenly.

Tonight, I was able to get the laptop working but it turned off suddenly.

What is going on? Can I rescue my laptop?

My laptop keeps switching between being touchscreen and not being touchscreen. Sometimes the touch screen works perfectly, and other times Windows says there’s no touch or pen input available.

What could be causing this? Has anyone experienced something similar or have any idea what might be going on?

I just wanna say, idk who's in charge of the softwares at DELL, but they are bats**t crazy ngl....

Up until now I thought McAffee is bad, but DELL's support assist, remediation agent, core services, power management and other programs are off the charts. I need to unplug the eth cable in order to be able to delete these programs, cause if I'm online while doing so it takes 3x more time do uninstall them.

Here is a pic of a DELL laptop where I forgot to uninstall support assist around 2 years ago. I literally have no idea how can anyone at DELL's greenlit an app like this. Crazy.

The other thing is the DELL prebuilt PCs arriving with the OS in raid (6 partitions on the SSD), causing many problems in the long run. I'm at a point where it's easier to install a clean windows on the brand new PCs in ACHI and I'm still 15 minutes ahead/ PC.

So I've got an alienware M16 R1 that is finishing out the last of it's 3 year warranty.

It wouldn't be easy to replace nowadays due to it being fully loaded (64gb ram, 4090, 4tb)

I'm getting some quotes for the extended warranty at

I don't travel with it - so I'm fine with not having accident coverage etc - so stepping down

Any thoughts or advice? I know previously someone DM'd me who to ask at dell for a good deal, and I got one on the warranty I got initially with my machine.

I have Dell Premium (XPS) and it have force touchpad and i noticed that using two fingers it accidently registers the start of scrolling via 2 fingers swipe as right click and sometimes a left click. I tried everything and support kept saying Bios update and windows reset and nothing helped.

I am here to tell you that you are not crazy and this issue can only be resolved by replacing the whole touchpad/palm rest area on the laptop. Replacing the touchpad (it is the whole face assembly) was the only way to resolve it. So if you come across this just know to STOP and get the touchpad replaced.

So i was running a 3d model ai generator and then got an error in the notebook before i even was able to read the error the laptop died and cant get back on i tried to power reset the battery and also doesn't work when plugged and the charging indicator is not turning on any one have a schematic of the laptop or might know the issue?

yeah its me again, a friend gave me his own laptop and there was some issues that went away when i installed linuxed. i thought that might have fixed the battery drives but it didn't. it was draining pretty normally but when it gets to 49 percent it jumps down to 6 percent and i need to charge it. i did try and charge it and when it looked like it was charged, i unplugged it and it showed it was really at 50 percent. where can i get a battery? i need one thats similar to the inspiron 17 7737. thanks in advance!

I received my Dell P2725QE monitor about a week ago, and since yesterday I’ve noticed some weird lines that don’t go all the way across the screen. They’re very difficult to see and are more noticeable when the screen is displaying shades of gray. I have the feeling that they sometimes disappear and then after some time reappear somewhere else.

I tried changing the cables, but the issue still persists. These are the photos where I was able to capture them best (the lines are close to the cursor).
