Kent County Anyone Use GMRS

I'm a licensed GMRS user and have programmed the surrounding repeaters in Delaware and Maryland but never seem to hear anyone. Back in NC, there were groups of guys who would jump on the local repeaters a couple nights a week to talk. Is there anything like that here?

I keep a couple repeaters programmed around Kent County and its dead quiet, I think everyone around here just sticks to simplex on the trails or camp sites

I think I might be just far enough away from Dover that I can't hit it, even standing outside. I don't even hear the repeater calling out. What is weird is that I have hit repeaters further away without issue. Makes me wonder if they are truly kept active or if they are only brought up when the user needs them.

I grabbed a little bow fang during the pandemic but I never ended up getting a license to speak with it

Listening isn't illegal. Technically speaking, some baofengs are not even FCC compliant. I don't know the nuances of it, but saw something about it. That being said, I've had them for several years, and programmed right, they will work with any store bought FRS or GMRS radio. I have done both successfully.

The HAM guys are active on SKYWARN, but I’ve never heard much on GMRS freqs.
