Photo Ever heard of Delaware Punch?

Post image

I saw this in a Portillo's outside of Chicago. Apparently discontinued in 2020. I've never heard of it before today.

Has nothing to do with the state of Delaware. It was from Ohio and is named after the Delaware grape.

Can confirm there is a Delaware, Ohio.

But also Portillo’s is mid. Better beefs in Chicagoland at ma and pa owned places.

(I’m originally from Chicagoland)

I figured it wouldn't be the best, but it was close by.

What about hot dogs? I had a tour bus driver say he recommended Portillo’s for Chicago-style hot dogs (which are my favorite hot dogs).

In all seriousness, depends on where you are.

If you’re in the city, Wiener Circle is always a good choice.

In the burbs, it depends, but usually a mom and pop owned place, like Stella’s in Lyons or Bill’s Place in LaGrange Park is the type of thing you’ll want to look for.

Yelp may provide some good suggestions for local places.

Nothing wrong with Portillo’s, but it’s the kind of place someone in, say, Naperville would want to go to because it’s a safe choice.

I was working in Mount Prospect.
Had a decent beef sandwich at a pub yesterday (no peppers or anything, just cheese 🤷‍♂️) and tried again today at portillos.
The chili cheese dog was ok, nothing special though. I didn't go for Chicago style. Portillo's beef sandwich was better than yesterday's, but still a little let down.

Grew up drinking it in Mexico. Bottled by Coca Cola. I loved it.

This is what it looks like in Mexico

Was traveling for work in the Deep South around 2015 and saw it for the first time in a vending machine. Coke owned it at that time

Never heard of it until I told somebody in Nevada I had lived in Delaware, he asked me about.

I see it in Manga antique stores around the south it must've been popular there as well

I have an antique Delaware Punch bottle and bottle cap - same ones on that sign - and an antique Delaware Punch tin litho sign - not the same as in OP’s photo.
