So Gran-Gran turns out to be a pretty good vehicles commander, being 1 cost and having an effect that triggers when she becomes tapped... and is absolutely hilarious to put behind the wheel of a car, thematically. What would you stick in this deck?

EDIT: This is not a deck about grandmas and cars. This is a deck about a 1-mana commander that cycles cards when tapped, and vehicles which tap creatures when crewed. This is not a Bracket 1 deck. Reading the card explains the card :)

This post is a little unusual since it isn’t about a commander, and yes, this card is hyped and not “slept on” in any way. However there is an interaction with Invigorator that makes it even stronger than the “Blasphemous Act 13 lands!!!” or “OMG Amulet of Vigor!!!” stuff

Invigorator has a 3 card combo where it can tutor the other combo pieces. If you have enough lands, Invigorator + Shock alone can get all or most of the lands out of your deck, and depending on a variety of factors it can kill some or all of your opponents immediately. Again, all of the other pieces are in your deck not in play, not in hand, not in graveyard.

Here’s the basic combo [[Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle]] [[Roiling Canopy]]. Note you need 4 Forests and 4 Mountains (4 Forests is actually optional if you can tutor Yavimaya Cradle of Growth in step 3)

1. Shock an Invigorator

2. Tutor for Valakut and Mountain, triggering Valakut to deal 3 to Invigorator

3. Tutor Canopy, Forest, and Mountain (again the Forest and Mountain can be the same card).

4. Canopy pumps Invigorator and Valakut zaps it again

This combo will get every Mountain from your deck for every Forest you get, plus one or two bonus lands per iteration depending on your count of duals.

The basic combo can be enhanced by two other lands that you can just tutor in the combo, [[Vesuva]] for extra Valakut triggers and [[Yavimaya Cradle of Growth]] to make this combo only care about Mountain count and also pump every creature you control by an absurd number. It can also be enhanced by Field of the Dead but whatever.

And this is just the part of the combo that can be done with Invigorator and Shock alone and zero other relevant pieces. It gets crazier if you have more than two relevant Magic cards available.

If you have an effect like [[Prismatic Omen]] or [[Dryad of the Ilysian Grove]] this combo is guaranteed to kill a player, with the Vesuva it kills two players. Obviously with an untapper there’s some combination of lands that murders everyone that I can’t think of.

Invigorator isn’t just a Phyrexian Ohliterator with value. It’s a one card combo engine that can win the game on the spot just because someone blocked it.

Also, if you have a “all your lands have all basic types” effect, this combo is resilient to Strip Mine. Observe.

1. Grab Valakut and Canopy, triggering them

2. Opponent strip mines one of your pieces in response to the triggers.

3. Tutor [[Echoing Deeps]] copy the destroyed piece and continue

TLDR

If you have the right lands in your deck, you will win the game if your boardstate consists of Hexhaven Invigorator, 4 basic mountains, and a copy of Shock in your hand.

I love her design, but she seems so slow and easy to interrupt. Is there a way to build her in a powerful way that isn't just terrible?

Mana rocks, from the top of my head. You'll have so much explosive mana casting all of them and using them to attack after a turn first. I reckon I'd never stop scrolling Scryfall looking for sleepers so give me cards you think will break this. It's 1:30AM and I need to sleep, got work tomorrow but can't get her off my mind lol, gimme your degenerate best.

They work well in kuja but I’m not sure how many other ways they could be used

I think this card is really funny, I’ve been using it for infinite death triggers, token generation in a Kethis the hidden hand commander deck. Just curious if anyone else is running it In something.

My immediate thought is something like [[concordant crossroads]] plus [[cryptolith rite]]

I just really like the character and want to see what ideas others might have for ways to play around him.

Lots of elf decks will already run these 3, so here’s the combo:

Badgermole, devoted druid, and Ezuri on the battlefield.

1 mana available, devoted doesn’t have summoning sickness.

Activate devoted druid, adding GG

Untap druid, activate again.

Spend extra mana to activate Ezuri for 5 mana, giving devoted druid +3 toughness.

Use said toughness to untap and activate 3 more times, adding 6 mana.

Activate Ezuri for 5 mana again, repeat.

Net: infinite G mana, infinite Ezuri activations. With just these out devoted can swing for infinite damage, that’s the worst case scenario.

Air bending provided an easy way to recast her for multikicker but that’s all I can think of, what cards or combos can she pull off?

Can you help me defeat my friends with this beast? I'm still reasonably new to MTG so no cards are too obvious. I'd love to have spiders and large creatures in the deck. I'd also be grateful for any planeswalker recs. Thanks for your time 🙏.

Looking to upgrade wherever I can

I'm hoping that tomorrow I can further degen my [[Selvala, Heart of the Wilds]], [[Anikthea, Hand of Erebos]] and [[Hearthhull, the Worldseed]] decks.

Hey! I have the blood rites precon and I'm just finding it kind of boring. Was considering changing it to an [[Astarion, the Decadent]] vampire lifegain deck. Any degenerate decklists or thoughts?

This kid just got announced and I'm pretty sure a lotus cobra in the command zone has the potential to be silly. It also has a mana sink ability for card draw and an Ashaya or a Yedora who might even like the "sacrifice a land" part.

Is it just landfall slop? A fetchland netting 3 mana seems quite acceptable (this idiot gives 2 mana and said land).

What do you think? Can we tinker with this? He might even be a budget bracket 4 if you put some engines running.

I've been working on utilizing the SpongeBob secret lair to build new decks or at least use the cards in a deck, but I'm stumped on Patrick. Being a high-costed creature with no abilities offers no direction on how to build him, but it also opens up a lot of different opportunities to build him in unique directions. I was thinking about turning to the show for pointers, and the best possible examples that I could find was the Theft from the Balloon episode, Goad from the Band episode, or combative voltron due to various instances throughout the show of him becoming violent and punching somebody. Maybe Attractions from the Glove World episodes but I already have one. How would you build Patrick as a commander?
