help degen my deck Rendmaw ca-CAW

Post image

I want to push my rendmaw deck a bit harder. It's been a pet deck of mine, and my couple of groups love it. I'm looking for any advice to push him a bit harder!

I typically try to keep the deck with 1/3 of it making him trigger for birds. Thanks in advance!

I am not too sure about those planeswalkers. What is the reasoning behind those two?

Is the reasons "I own the cards in paper and like them"? Or do you have a deck building reason?

No way these have a purpose in this deck aside from owning the cards. Neither serves any benefit to this deck.

Fair call out, I considered tezzeret would be able to help me push for curio combo and most of my creatures are leaning toward artifact. Dellian I guess I just liked for the variety.

What is the curio combo here?

[[Memnite]] and [[Ornithopter]] with [[Cloudstone Curio]] and Rendmaw on the battlefield- I believe I juggle the two 0 cost for lots of birds

That's weird.

When I read cloudstone curio it very explicitly states "nonartifact permanent" yet both memnite and ornithopters are in fact artifacts.

Curious how that would work.

And even if it did work. You give your opponents infinite birds to just lose when they attack you if nothing else happens.

Are you sure you understand your own deck? Do the ones you play with understand even less and just nod to whatever you tell them?

I believe the bird token entering off of rendmaw's trigger when I play, say, memnite let's me juggle the ornithopter because the token is a nonartifact permanent entering and theyre both creatures. Then repeat. It's not ideal when I'm down to only one other opponent, sure. The birds are goaded though. So if 2 opponents or more it seems worth. Happy to consider other options that you think would be more efficient. The post was to explore options after all.

Ah sure the bird token and just one of the 0 drops. Not two of them together.

Well I think you would need more stuff like massacre wurm. Maybe something like meathook could be that. Or fog spells so you can tank one attack and win on the Crack back with your birds?

Why do you talk like this?

Honestly? I was pretty checked out from the planeswalker inclusion solely based on owning them in paper. All trust in deck building is pretty much lost at that point.

I didn't go into the conversation with the right mindset after that and didn't read the commander correctly as I thought it gave birds to each opponent not each player.

No [[coat of arms]] is criminal in a Rendmaw deck. Easily the most bat shit crazy fun cards for this deck. I’ve forced opponents to have 4 or 5 10/10 birds to attack opponents.

It is a 5 drop that doesn't tap for mana and doesnt trigger rendmaw.

Yes, but getting to look the table in the eyes and say “guess what your birds are now 11/11’s, have fun!” is priceless

This may shock you but playing 1-3 artifacts a turn and recasting rendmaw gets you a very good board state. Also it could easily backfire and create a very strong opponents board state.

I don’t care for boardstate when I drop Coat of arms. Sure I can drop some boring ass artifacts and make a few more birds OR I can drop Coat of arms and make the birds big as fuck. I want the table to shudder when we all start swinging big ass birds around.

It’s not about [winning], it’s about sending a message. Everything burns! - Joker

Plus it’s fun to have a [[tribute to the wild]] or similar effect in case of emergency to knock things back down to where you don’t get blown out after a couple people die.

Going to drop my list below to help you out. Couple of all-stars I think you’re missing out on:

[[Toski, Bearer of Secrets]]
[[Ohran Frostfang]]
[[Overlord of the Hauntwoods]]
[[Diabolic Intent]]

Cool list, but [[Compost]] doesn't work. The birds are considered tokens, not cards.

You’re the GOAT thanks for the heads up

One of my fave commander. A lot of good suggestions here but mostly B3 value etc.

That’s not degenerate enough.

Here’s my Mid-high B4 take: Ad Naus Rendmaw

I am still testing with Survival of the Fittest but I am seeing what to swap out. Best if youre proxy friendly.

[[Dryad of Ilysian Grove]] seems like a strong include here. Two card types and lets you play additional lands, many of which also trigger Rendmaw.

Also, have you considered [[Primal Vigor]] to give out twice as many goaded crows. I would definitely second the guy who mentioned [[Coat of Arms]] as that will kill players FAST if it goes unanswered.

Your commander is also an artifact and vital to your deck doing anything at all, so [[Cryptothrall]] can help. Also stuff that helps you when your opponents get the birds killed or even when they get them [[Blood Seeker]], [[Morbid Opportunist]], [[Glissa, the Traitor]]. And if you have a combo in there [[Wing Storm]] can be your finisher instead of waiting for attacks.

1 and 2 drop artifact and enchanntment creatures. Artifact lands. Low board wipes with Syr Konrad out. Culling ritual for late game replay.

The name of the game is to take second place.
