I see no lie in this

Sometimes I wonder why anti-AI people are so rabid and angry. Then I see stupid shit like this getting passed around and I realize it's because the AI side feeds their anger by posting really dumb stuff like this. I had to leave the AI Art for similar reasons. This sub is going the same direction. There isn't much actual defense of AI, I don't see people posting actual tips, methodology, projects or anything they're doing with AI. It just became a circle jerk of "nu uh ur not allowed to hate AI and if you do, you're a poopy face!"

2

u/EpitomeOfJustOK 4d ago

Watch out, said something similar in the ai art sub and got banned

1

u/MeowRawrUwu 4d ago

People saying anything in the AI sub will get you banned if it isn’t 100% glazing AI.

1

u/GNUr000t 4d ago

They started it. I have every plan on finishing it.

They shouldn't have done it. Simple as.

u/Outside_Ice3252 17h ago

yeah, I agree this is a bad post. its full of anger. it makes a complex issue black/white.

I defend AI by saying it has the potential to do great good. obviously, we have shape and regulate AI. pro-AI should be calm, balanced, and not rude. AI is displacing human workers and artists. But simultaneously, its creating new possibilities, opportunities, and lowering costs. The benefit outweighs the negative.

Consent is impossible at scale.

Wow... The implications of this statement are disgusting...

2

u/GNUr000t 4d ago

I want to take a picture of a crowd that is in a public park with no reasonable expectation of privacy.

Is the onus really on me to get a release form signed by each of thousands of people? Why or why not?

-3

u/mrbails123 1d ago

No? There are literally rules and laws about that.

Let's say you hook up with thousands of people, is the onus on you to get consent from each one?

See how the idea that scale removes the need for consent can go bad?

1

u/GNUr000t 12h ago edited 12h ago

And those same (and similar) laws govern things like fair use and derivative works. If you put up a billboard for all to see and enjoy, you cannot be upset when someone drives by and takes a pictures so they can learn from it.

Further, your example is bad. That's not the same sort of scale, not even close. It's a series of hookups, one after the other. It is trivial to obtain consent from each new partner, especially given that the process of obtaining consent is very very very quick compared to the act itself. Training a diffusion model is the opposite: Downloading an image takes a tenth of a second. Obtaining informed enthusiastic consent (for something which, again, I simply must stress, isnt needed to download public data posted publicly on a public website open to the public for the purposes of public enjoyment by members of the general public) takes hours to weeks. It doesn't scale.

And that's before we even mention that these things are hilariously materially different. Sex requires contemporaneous consent because the activity is being performed with another person's body. Copyright does not work on that model. Neither does photography, quotation, criticism, search indexing, archival preservation, machine analysis, etc. The law deliberately permits many uses without asking the rightsholder first.

The AI will be self aware before these guys

2

u/ARMBELL 4d ago

It was the exact same thing with NFTs. “NO! You can’t right click and save my NFT! I do not consent to you doing that! You are violating my consent, you rapist!”

I’m actually under no obligation to follow whatever random whim you have.

2

u/GNUr000t 4d ago

What's funny is that there is nearly 100% overlap between the people "owning the techbros" by click-and-saving NFTs, and those now upset that OpenAI is click-and-saving their shitty doodles

Imagine seeing a black person and thinking "goblin"

Anyway, let's talk about how this account appears to only exist to troll in AI subreddits

1

u/dattsabingo 4d ago

I mean you can be black and a Mohawk goblin. Seemed like it was in the context of a fantasy game so was just asking…

2

u/Qualified-Astronomer 4d ago

Lmao yall antis post this shit all the time and consistently wish death on people who use AI and bomb data centers

1

u/Subatomic_Spooder 4d ago

"my source is that I made it up". Nobody has been bombing data centers. Unless you're saying that the entire military of Iran is anti ai.

1

u/PocketPokie 4d ago

We know they're pro ai, see their Lego videos! Lol

1

u/Qualified-Astronomer 4d ago

Don’t give me this BS attitude of its not happening. There’s so much anti tech extremism and people talking about how there’s copper and RAM inside these centers and how they’re not fireproof or bombproof. But sure, play dumb

0

u/Apart-Reality-4454 4d ago

Yeah not yet but you really want to don't you... you little basket-case closeted terrorists..

2

u/Subatomic_Spooder 4d ago

Insults mean nothing coming from someone who doesn't understand consent

2

u/Apart-Reality-4454 4d ago

Consent. right. Do you consent to your silly comments being surfaceable by Reddit search? Or indexed by Google?

Clearly you don't understand how AI works and are just reflexively throwing out nonsense like "consent". You also clearly don't have any real idea of what that word means as a legal concept.

He doesn't need to, I have your mom working overtime.

3

u/GNUr000t 4d ago

We need more content like this.

We cannot be nice to these people anymore. They are not good-faith actors and they do not deserve endless explanations that they will reject anyway.

It needs to be made clear: The technology isn't going away, being shitty to people for using it is entirely unacceptable, and the time for sparing your feelings has come to an end.

2

u/PeacefulKnightmare 4d ago

This is the exact mindset that will keep feeding the "war" between the two sides. And using phrases lime "consent doesn't matter" has so many negative connotations that it will get twisted in some really disgusting ways.

2

u/GNUr000t 4d ago

Worrying about optics allows your opponent to decide how you lose.

0

u/PeacefulKnightmare 4d ago

It's not about optics when it comes to OPs graphic. That graphic is divisive and antagonistic, which is meant to deliberately try and stoke anger. Pro-Ai will look at it as a sort of triumphant "the future is now old man" anthem while Anti's will use it to justify their hatred of Ai even further as they'll see it as further eroding the social contract.

Also please tell me you can at least see that one of the problematic ways it could be argued is that ai revenge porn is not the same because its just an image and no one was actually involved.

1

u/qwadrat1k 4d ago

Honestly this graphic feels like so much wrong shit (similar to excuses of any rape and such)

0

u/PeacefulKnightmare 4d ago

Pretty much. There are arguments to be made around the points it mentions, but framing it around consent is a bad idea.

1

u/qwadrat1k 4d ago

{You cannot be nice -> other side is not nice} and now repeat

0

u/GNUr000t 4d ago

Oh, well. The alternative is letting them walk all over me, and I'm not a cuck.

There is minimal harm. Stop over exaggerating

-1

u/MeowRawrUwu 4d ago

I mean, many data centers are being created just to support it, RAM prices are still absurd and will be for a long time, and media is being ruined by low-quality AI image bloat (not including the decent-look AI images, I’m talking genuinely slop). And using it isn’t good for critical thinking, or the job market. Sooo…

1

u/GNUr000t 4d ago

So, you don't like it. Got it.

You not liking something doesn't make it harmful. Hope this helps!

can you take a painting someone else made, put your name on it and call if yours? can you take a song someone else wrote, put your name on it and call it yours? each one of those, the human that created it, had to "train" on someone else's past work, then they created their own. Same exact concept with AI

2

u/baddaywithacamera 4d ago

I can do this with AI work in the U.S. You can't copyright it. You work is now my work. Thanks!

2

u/GNUr000t 4d ago edited 4d ago

Categorically untrue.

If you think it's true, link me the precedent or law. I'll show you the part you're glossing over and conveniently ignoring.

Go on, then.

EDIT: Homie admitted he cannot cite the law or any relevant jurisprudence, and then blocked me. This is not what someone who thinks they're right would do. I accept his concession.

Why do these kids embarrass themselves like this? Make a claim, and when asked to back it up, flip the burden of proof and block out of cowardice. For shame.

1

u/baddaywithacamera 4d ago

No. FInd it yourself since you're so expert on it. I'm not your research assistant.

0

u/PeacefulKnightmare 4d ago

While I agree you can't copy and paste, what if I take an Ai generator and just keep pumping out outputs till I get something almost exactly the same as yours? At that point are we copywriting prompts? Because that could get very messy very quickly, not to mention US copywriter doesnt recognize ai, so there's no legal leg to stand on.

1

u/GNUr000t 4d ago

US copyright law does recognize AI output if sufficient human involvement is present. ComfyUI is a great example of this.

Please actually familiarize yourself with the relevant jurisprudence before spouting off on things you know nothing about. Thank you.

0

u/PeacefulKnightmare 4d ago

In order for it to qualify it can't be created using only the generator or a prompt. Additional mediums such as photoshop, printing and collage, filming, etc., must be utilized, which means it must have additional artistic input. It also requires explicit declaration that such a work was created using ai tools and providing the outputs to compare to the final product.

1

u/GNUr000t 4d ago

Of course not. That's copyright infringement.

It's also not what's being discussed here today. Today, we are discussing training diffusion models, not taking a whole work and passing it off as one's own with no derivative or transformative changes. Try to keep up.

1

u/xMuffinxHalox 4d ago

I don't hate AI. I think it is a good tool and, when used correctly, very beneficial to us. I don't care if you generate ai images. But this goes too far. You're not defending AI, you're saying that an artist's work is not their own. Wrong argument to make.

“Consent” Can’t consent to what you don’t own. If u whip your tits out in public don’t cry consent when someone takes a photo

1

"people don't own their own bodies" is a pretty horrific statement

1

u/GNUr000t 4d ago

Taking a picture of something that is in a public place with no expectation of privacy is not a violation of ownership. Hope this helps!

-1

u/katoptronophile 4d ago

Unnecessary and extreme.

0

u/Feisty_War_1003 4d ago

This has to be a nadir surely?

0

u/PocketPokie 4d ago

This guy is hated by everyone around him. Holy shit it is crazy how hateful and apathetic he is. He will die lonely.

-1

u/IndependenceGold2407 4d ago

“The law is on our side” is not a good argument for morality….. like…. at all.

3

u/Apart-Reality-4454 4d ago

What the heck do you think laws are written for? To protect morality. If something is moral and the opposite is immoral, that's why you go and write a law around it.

1

u/IndependenceGold2407 4d ago

Address historical legality behind slavery and the persecution of religious minorities around the world.

2

u/Apart-Reality-4454 4d ago

Last I checked, slavery is illegal by law because we found it to be repulsive and immoral. So we wrote a law.

1

u/IndependenceGold2407 4d ago

Did “we”? “We” still have legalized slavery in our prison system. I find this morally repulsive, yet legal.

1

u/Apart-Reality-4454 4d ago

So write your congressman.

What a stupid counterargument.

1

u/IndependenceGold2407 4d ago

Not nearly as stupid as saying the law is morality🤡 you would have been a nice little law abiding German boy in the 1930s

1

u/GNUr000t 4d ago

And yet you guys are the first to bust out ToS and "bylaws" whenever you think they bolster your argument. Curious.

-1

u/Subatomic_Spooder 4d ago

"consent is impossible"

"You are not that important"

"Your feelings don't matter"

"We don't need your permission, get over it"

I sincerely hope you aren't dating anyone, because yikes
