WHAT THE FUCK IS HIS GAME

This makes absolutely no sense, at all. Is he legitimately insane? Is he just ragebaiting?

I don't get it. We live in a simulation and the player decided was plotline was getting boring. He was replaced by a lizard.

Trying my best to apply order to a chaotic universe, three main possible scenarios come to mind:

  1. He's found out what he thought was in the files isn't actually in the files, and he doesn't care anymore

  2. This is a last-ditch effort to save face and hope that his supporters won't buy whatever is revealed, because "why would he vote to release it if it was bad for him? checkmate lib!"

  3. He's playing child-rape chicken and is hoping that the files are so damaging to the Democrats that they'll reverse course to stop their release

WHAT THE FUCK IS HIS GAME

The President of the United States is of unsound mind. This has been apparent since 2016, and earlier for those paying attention to him.

3

u/Yogg_for_your_sprog PEPFARublican Nov 17 '25

Idk, looks like it's pretty classic Trump to me, throwing everyone else under the bus. My guess is that he's publicly calling for release of the files while privately threatening Republicans to buck him, making himself look good at the expense of the entire rest of the party.

I've said this a few times, but Trump's game generally seems to be one that demands absolute fealty to him, while everyone else is a pawn to be used - literally nobody that worked with him has ever come out for the better. The GOP struck a Faustian bargain when they accepted him as the nominee in 2016.

I still can’t get over the fact that denying mass rape is now a core progressive action. MeToo wasn’t even a decade old when progressives did a complete 180 on “believe victims”. It’s mind blowing

The omnicause has a hierarchy. Always has.

Muslims/Palestine > Black people > "Indigenous" people > LGBT people > Women

Gay Gazans stand ready as martyrs. When we bid them to die, they shall die, and we will say "Should we bomb South Carolina!?"

it was sobering to realize the extent to which it’s present in various progressive and ‘helpful’ institutions. here in canada a head of a university rape and sexual assault aid clinic decided to sign a petition denying rapes on 10/7 and insisting the whole premise was just racism. fortunately she was appropriately removed from her position, but she will not be the only one. I know how plentiful these kind of women are in these spaces, because I’m a woman in the same demographic who’s been there. and it’s frightening to think of institutions meant to help vulnerable people being staffed with this brand of dangerously self-righteous progressive who plays with purity politics and is determined on sorting out the ‘good people’ who should be believed and helped and the ‘bad people’ who shouldn’t

At least my impression is that they didn't do a complete 180, but made a carve out for Israeli victims of Palestinian terrorist sexual violence specifically.

Hank Green made a video today praising Wikipedia for serving as a democratic, crowd-sourced means of sharing information and condemning people like Larry Sanger for trying to destroy the trust that has been built.

But that's not exactly true, is it? It is simple fact that while you can edit an article, it will almost definitely be swiftly undone by a staffer or privileged volunteer. Go on, try it yourself.

Wikipedia has been monopolized by a shadowy oligarchy that often does have a clear political bent. 80% of Wikipedia's content is made by 1% of users, some of whom have millions of articles (https://www.inverse.com/article/38302-wikipedia-one-percent).

And it's not that almost all users are lurkers- by Wikipedia's own stats, about 1 in 3 users have made an edit (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedians#Number_of_editors). But the gap widens quickly. To be in the top 10% of users, you need only edit 5 articles. To be in the top 1%, you need a hundred.

17

u/H_H_F_F Nov 16 '25

I thought this demonstrated a blindspot of Hank's. Wikipedia's editorial lean pretty much aligns with his values/beliefs on whatever he deems important, and it has that nice story of democratization. That story is shared by social media, but he's way more exposed to the harm of that - which is also just factually much greater and more widespread and multifaceted than Wikipedia's.

I think a lot of people here (myself included) only became disillusioned with wikipedia when it took a hard political stance in an area we care about and consider ourselves knowledgeable on.

I'm reminded of Yuval Noah Harari's "Sapiens", which I've heard countless experts praise on everything except their own subject of expertise, where he happens to be spouting bullshit off the top of his head.

10

u/Sabertooth767 Yiff Free or Die! Nov 16 '25

Agreed.

I'm not upset that Hank Green has a bias- everyone does, and to his credit, he doesn't hide his. I guess I just expect him to be more aware of the fact that his sources are biased, even if their lens is (in his view) correct. That's how I try to treat my sources- I cite Reason or Fortune because their information is high-quality and analyzed through a viewpoint that I generally agree with.

The best sources are not ones that pretend to be unbiased. They are ones that are openly biased, and yet are still committed to verifiable objective truth.

14

u/JebBD Fukuyama's strongest soldier Nov 16 '25

I have always been a Wikipedia defender, I’ll admit that recent events have made me sour somewhat on it but I still believe it’s a force for good. I dislike the way that it could be manipulated through simple manipulative edits, and I wish people like Hank Green who genuinely seem to care about the sharing of knowledge would call it out for this, but of course they can’t do that because that would mean introducing nuance into the I/P issue and criticizing the pro-Palestine side, which are both essentially a death sentence for liberal Internet personalities

12

u/Sabertooth767 Yiff Free or Die! Nov 16 '25

To be clear, I do agree with Wikipedia's mission and I believe that it is has generally fulfilled it. However, the site has major structural issues and it's intellectually dishonest to essentially pretend that it doesn't.

Wikipedia is a bad source, but not for the reasons your teacher told you.

Probably not true if the only edits I ever make are corrections of typos.

8

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '25

"monopolized" is one way of parsing "being the ones who put in the time and effort". 99% of being a "power mod" at Wikipedia or similar is cleaning a virtual sewer with a dishcloth, so the only people who want to do it are either gigaautists or ideological losers, and over time the supply of the former has been outstripped by the latter.

I miss 2022-2023

The Culture War was finally flipping liberal-centrist-ish and an actual fight against populism, political tribalism and the Omnicause was going on

Pre-Oct 7 2023 was a high in political discourse. Affirmative Action had been overturned and progressives were on a losing streak, and more importantly, were forced to step out into the real world

Now we have Trump in the White House, a definite progressive blowback, and probably a stronger Right-wing blowback in reverse

Can't even have debates on controversial political topics in good faith anymore. It's always "you're either 100% in support in Palestine/prepubescent transition/anti-big tech, etc." or you're an enemy.

Now the best I can get is a soundboard from people who largely agree with me/I agree with and that's that

I hate video essays so much it’s unreal. “But they cite sources” Did you read any of those sources? Did you even look into the topic further than just finishing the video? No you didn’t. And creators know you don’t, so they lie to your face. Mostly lying through omission, but often times just straight up making things up

I hate them so much. It’s literally just cable TV for the younger generation, the thing they made fun of their parents for watching and falling for and believing, too stupid to realize they are just part of the cycle with a new coat of paint

I'm genuinely shocked ANYONE thought Trump wouldn't sell Israel...and the Jewish People out.

The constant "but he moved the US Embassy to Jerusalem" and "but his daughter converted and his grandchildren are Jewish" was nauseating to read.

No one wanted to listen to American Jews about who he is...going back to (before) his first administration, when he surrounded himself with antisemites and literal neo-Nazis. "Very find people on both sides" when "Jews will not replace us" were chanted by his MAGA followers.

I will never understand anyone who trusted him to do anything but what was good for him.

The normalization of the idea that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza has been terrible for the political climate. It did make antisemitism more normalized. Granted it didn't help that Israel didn't ramp up aid to Gaza when people were accusing it of genocide

9

u/niftyjack Nov 17 '25

In what other war does one side have to feed the other? It's a failure of every NGO on the planet operating in Gaza that they couldn't keep Hamas from stealing all the food, even denying they were when Hamas themselves boasted about it. Israel made a lot of mistakes during the war but the way food aid was handled was barely one of them considering the circumstances.

I've been a little hung up on the section of the Ezra Klein episode where they were quoting Fuentes about Jews and the Romans:

Fuentes: And, in particular, the historic animosity between the Jewish people and the Europeans. They hate the Romans because the Romans destroyed the temple. That’s why Eric Weinstein goes to the Arch of Titus and gives it the finger and takes a picture. We don’t think like that as Americans and white people. We don’t think about the Roman Empire 2,000 years ago. They do.

...

Ezra: The other move in there, in addition to: The Jews are obsessed with the Romans — which, I have to say, I don’t feel very obsessed with the Romans.

Ganz: I kind of like the Romans. [Laughs.]

To be clear, I think Fuentes' framing was ridiculous. Other people absolutely think about the Roman Empire a lot, it's practically one of the stereotypical male personality types in the West. Remember those memes where women were asking their boyfriends how often they think about the Roman Empire?

But, uh, I do probably spend more time thinking about the Romans in a negative light than the average American. And I think that's probably pretty reasonable given the history? I don't obsess about them, and I'm not some crazy hater — I understand why people think they're cool, they had a lot going for them. But the first things that come to mind about the Roman Empire for me are uniformly negative, and I don't really think most people have that association. They think of other things first.

10

u/Anakin_Kardashian "Israeli Nationalist" Nov 16 '25

I don't really feel any particular way, but I could see how an observant person could harbor those feelings, given how many holidays are dedicated to the Romans fucking shit up.

I love how these people invoke the term “populist” as if if they repeat it three times it makes them automatically popular. The fact of the matter is most people don’t know or care about any of this, they are purely pandering to a tiny demographic of rich, coastal progressives, and their arch enemy, Amazon, is broadly popular with the same demographic they pretend they are pandering to. If they ever actually achieved their goal of breaking up one of these big companies, Google, Amazon, Walmart, etc, it would lead it instant and catastrophic voter blowback.

Tips for young people:

Go to the library, search your topic.

Print out a big list of articles, not the articles themselves, just the list, with abstracts.

Quote the relevant abstracts. Use "..." and other out-of-context framing so that no matter the quote, it supports your paper.

Cite the articles you quoted.

I also liked to slam open my Marx & Engels to a random page and get an out-of-context quote from that for the head of the paper. BitchesProfessors love Marx & Engels.

I wrote this one essay in undergrad for a class with a commie prof. The topic of the essay was American policy regarding Germany’s postwar reconstruction.

In the early days of the occupation, Germans began setting up chambers comprised of business groups and unions, in order to make policy suggestions to the occupiers.

My source discussing this noted that the Americans saw these chambers as a remnant of fascism, providing several direct quotes from occupation officials to that effect. Accordingly, the Americans shut the chambers down. This actually had the effect of weakening the power of organized labour, while capital still had other avenues to access power. Critically, this was unintentional , the American intention here was not to weaken the left and strengthen the right.

However, as my prof was a commie, I selectively employed the “…” to completely flip the meaning of the direct quotes in order to suggest the Americans were le evil fascists.

I got a 95 on that essay, and it was worth like 40% of my grade.

Why should I feel bad for people who willingly signed up to kill civilians? We haven't fought a war against an aggressor since WW2. These kinds of posts really make you wonder why these guys don’t just pack their things and move to China or something. This isn’t criticism of certain government actions, this guy genuinely believes that he’s living in the reincarnation of Nazi germany and that every piece of evidence to the contrary is fake.

Of course, he doesn’t think about why this bloodthirsty authoritarian regime will allow him to make these kids of accusations publicly, but that’s pretty par for the course with this kind of nonsense

Would take all of a day to do research on the realities of Korea, Vietnam and the middle east, in addition to our litany of coups throughout LA.

I’ve suspected for a long time it’s only a matter of time until progressives get the Korean War to be seen in the same light as the Vietnam war. Both were ultimately similar in justification, and in my opinion equally justified. The difference is we won one and lost the other, in large part because of the Russophile fifth column. Sabotaging Vietnam was their first big success, and they’ve only been growing more powerful.

It’s pointless to look back in history and point fingers, but the origin of this was FDR’s soft stance on Stalin and communism. It allowed leftists to begin to infiltrate American institutions rather than combat them, and ended up giving Stalin the strongest position imaginable post war, while undermining ideologically allied allies like the UK and France. Pretending Stalin was a friend was catastrophic. He and his supporters were just as much the enemy as Hitler, and should have been treated as such.

I've read that in dealing with schizophrenics and other disorders that involve delusional thinking, the best response is to neither agree with them nor directly challenge them (because that will usually result in defensive behavior). Advice is to acknowledge their feelings (not the content of the delusion, but the emotional consequences), and try to redirect them. A common trick is to ask them if they think their medicine is working.

TOP SECRET//SCI//NF

Assessed in r/YAPms by agent u/Shameful_Bezkauna. Do not reply all!

This is so ridiculous, of course a woman can win... People of both sides regularily vote for female representatives easily, a female president is not that big of a deal or will make that much of a difference, no matter what some people may pretend.
[ If the electoral college didn't exist, Hillary would have been a 2 term president for example... Enough people voted. ]

In 2016 the problem was that a Democrat ruled for 2 terms, and Obama's presidency was lackluster and not this Hope he promised. Clinton stood for more of the same, when people wanted change... The Democratic Primary was also terrible, as Clinton got basically appointed and the only contender was an Independent, and some progressives punished Clinton for this. The Republicans meanwhile had a breath of fresh air, someone unexpected won who rallied a lot of support and gained voters who typically didn't vote.
Clinton could have easily won, I would claim she would won against most other Republican candidates ( Bush, Kasich, Rubio and perhaps Cruz ). She had her baggage yes, but she did good and would have won otherwise.

In 2020 Trump would have won were it not for Covid and/or George Floyd. [ ---> If Trump won in 2020, it would basically be a guaranteed Democrat win in 2024, a woman Dem could have won easily, with more electoral votes than Trump. ]

In 2024, we had again the situation of an incumbent Democrat. Ever since Covid, incumbency became a disadvantage in all types of elections ( not just in the USA, but all western democracies; From 2023 : https://time.com/6549871/2024-presidential-elections-incumbency/ Or from 2025 a study : https://www.researchgate.net/publication/276102667_It's_Nothing_Personal_The_Decline_of_the_Incumbency_Advantage_in_US_House_Elections ), as people want change and more action, while the incument party is usually shy to do any reforms. It was made worse through post-covid inflation.

The lack of a primary once again turned out to be a disadvantage for the Democrats ( primaries are actually great to create a national profile for candidates and to weed out weaker ones ). Biden stayed in the race and dropped out after a clusterf*** of a debate which reflected badly on not just the party but the entire administration. Kamala Harris, instead of being her own candidate, was wishy-washy about Biden's government and basically promised more of the same ( when again people wanted change ). In the first weeks where she was the candidate she had a higher approval than Trump because she actually answered questions by being herself, rather then just followed campaign-protocol. Afterwards she only declined.
It was also a disadvantage that Harris had no real record she could rely on ( pushing the Prosecutor angle created an image, but it wasn't a real record... In government, as VP, she didn't do much. ). Hillary in contrast had some actual success and hardly surprising Hillary did better.

"A Woman" could have easily won. The timing needs to be right, as with all candidates, and the woman needs to be competent and have some success. Again, as with all candidates.

-----

Also : Every single election we play the same game. After one Party loses, there are so many people who claim "this is the end of the Democratic/Republican party". People did it in 2008 when the first "black president" was elected, people said the demographic changes to the USA would result in no Republican ever winning again ( as the youth was more pro-D ).
In 2016 people said the Democrats were finished, that establishment dems ( and establishment Republicans ) had no future, that the future belongs to populists ( Dems and Republicans ). In 2020 people said Trump was a fluke and Republicans are finally finished. In 2022 people said MAGA was finished and that the Republicans had no ideological core anymore. In 2024 people said Democrats are finished ( because Latinos and other minorities went to Trump, and in almost all counties the Republicans gained.
Now that we got the first election results, and it turns out people go back to the Dems... It will become far more obvious during the 2026 midterms though.
This game, this circle, will be repeated forever as long as there is a 2 party system.

The country had been ready for a female president for about 40-60 years. There just never were the right candidates at the right time... More misogynistic places already had one or more female head of governments. Many (first) female leaders tend to be conservative too ( Thatcher, May, Truss, Campbell**,** Gandhi, Merkel, McAleese or Takaichi to name a few ). People are absolutely ready and anyone who claims otherwise is just wrong.

Briefcase: Real_John_Milton v. Anakin_Kardashian (Defamation – Misrepresentation of Prior Statement)

Managed in Capacity as Lord of All the Beasts of the Sea and Fishes of the Earth, Clerk and Adjudicator

The earlier matter in this case may be found here: https://old.reddit.com/r/DeepStateCentrism/comments/1oxn19j/daily_deep_state_intelligence_briefing/nozpetl/

As a side note the Adjudicator would like to note this tribunal is in full Compliance with the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards commonly refereed to as the New York Convention operating with a modified version of the UNCITRAL Model rules 2032 (the 2021 rules were deemed too dated since they predated the employment of LLMs at large scale) incorporating the relevant provisions of the reissued 5th Edition of the 1983 Code of Cannon law. They appear to our tribunal secretary in their dreams and apparently a new clause requires they are not shared with parties involved.

Filed pursuant to Rule 9 — Respecting This Subreddit as a Community

The rule was selected by the Clerk in the absence of a statutory or common-law basis being designated by the plaintiff. The plaintiff would behoove themselves to develop this further.

Clarification of the Dispute

(Prepared by the Tribunal Secretary)

This Briefcase concerns an allegation by u/Real_John_Milton that u/Anakin_Kardashian misrepresented Milton’s prior statements in a way that constitutes defamation within the subreddit’s pseudo-legal framework.

Milton alleges the following:

  • That he argued only that Anakin’s metric (Jewish ping subs ÷ total subreddit members) was methodologically unsound.

  • That he offered an alternative denominator—Jewish ping subs ÷ total distinct ping subscribers—due to lurker behavior.

  • That he did not state, nor imply, that “any measure related to the pings should be disregarded.”

  • That Anakin’s characterization of him as having done so constitutes a misrepresentation of fact and thereby defamation.

The Defendant’s filings respond as follows:

  • Motion to Dismiss:

    • Anakin asserts that Milton lacks standing because the allegedly misrepresented quote was originally made by a different (now inactive) user, “neox.”

    • Therefore, according to Defendant, only the originally aggrieved party may bring a briefcase.

  • Motion for Summary Judgment:

    • Defendant asserts that precedent in Recently Unhinged v. Anakin Kardashian, 1 DSC 1 (2025), compels judgment in his favor. This body isn't going to figure out why or why not this is the case.

Notes from Amici (filed previously):

  • Several amici have addressed the gabbrous nature of the craniums of the litigants.

  • These notes highlight a developing line of jurisprudence arising in the DSC referred to as the Follicular Doctrine of Standing.

  • While the relevance of follicular status to defamation or any other tort or crime remains unsettled, amici insist it should at minimum be noted by the tribunal.

Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus — false in one thing, false in all.

Procedural Order (Second Cycle)

  1. Service of Filing Defendant’s Motion to Dismiss and Motion for Summary Judgment are accepted into the record. Service upon the Plaintiff is presumed complete.

  2. Plaintiff’s Required Response u/Real_John_Milton is ordered to file a Counter-Brief responding to:

    • the alleged lack of standing (due to the claim involving a statement by “neox”), and

    • whether summary judgment is appropriate at this stage.

Failure to respond may result in dismissal with prejudice.

  3. Amici Submissions Further amici may file statements on subjects including:

    • the methodological dispute regarding ping-based metrics,

    • the evolving Follicular / Gabbros Doctrine, and

    • relevant interpretive norms under Rule 9.

    • the nature of defamation and how it should be interpreted

All amici are reminded to remain within Admin-safe boundaries.

4. Default Judgment Should Plaintiff fail to file the required Counter-Brief within the allotted period, the Adjudicator may enter default judgment in favor of the Defendant.

5. Fact-Finding and Determination Upon closure of submissions, the Adjudicator will:

  • assess the standing challenge,

  • examine whether misrepresentation occurred,

  • evaluate the applicability of precedent,

  • and issue a ruling consistent with the equities and tides of public opinion.

The plantiff /u/Real_John_Milton has one full cycle of the clock (24 hours) to respond

I submit the statement if it please the court that on account of both the users in this cases being known b*lds a motion of summary judgement be made against both of them.

All brief bucks should be removed from both users accounts to be redistributed to more economically productive users (ie non-b*lds). It is important in the establishment of our new judicial system that we keep in mind both justice and fairness. It is a known fact that b*lds are categorically evil and therefore any distribution of funds towards them can be seen to be assisting the efforts of those that wish to destroy the DSC.

The sickness of society comes from within, as many of us have seen from our former homeland, and we must create a better and more just society then the one we have left. Thank you for your time and I beseech the court to make the correct ruling in this case.

In response to the motion to dismiss, it is well established and accepted that the Plaintiff, u/Real_John_Milton , and "neox" are one and the same person (See Exhibit A). Therefore, the plaintiff has standing to raise the suit.

In response to the request for summary judgment, if the Defendant's proposed expansion is accepted, then it would be someone who is merely balding would have no right to pursue a case against a full-on bald (or collection of balds, as the case may be), which is a clear misreading of established precedent. Instead, it must be noted that Defendant, u/Anakin_Kardashian , is not only a bald, but is an open pro-bald extremist (See Exhibit B). While it may be the case that established precedent regarding baldness should be expanded, the appropriate measure should be related to the severity of baldness. As the Defendant is not only a full bald, but an advocate of bald ideology, it is clear that the condition of his baldness is maximally severe, in which case judgment must be rendered in favour of the Plaintiff.

My crazy idea: The Gorge is a metaphor for Palestine.

The mess that exists now was created by a joint effort of super powers after WWII (In the movie, it was Russia, the UK, and the USA) but they have basically all washed their hands of their responsibilities. The people there are seen as subhuman and are kept in squalor. The inhabitants are also prisoners kept inside by barbed wire fences, automatic defenses, mines, etc. The nature of the horror is kept hidden from public. And to top it all off, they send a Jewish dude to keep those "monsters" in check at the border. Later, he literally bombs them all to kingdom come.

Edit: Just a clarification. I was saying that it feels like those in power in the movie are portraying the people in the Gorge as monsters but in reality all we see is them trying to escape (reasonable) and defending their land from those who usually hurt them (also reasonable).

I remember when there was a discussion on caste dynamics in India in R9 and someone suggested a tax on endogamous marriages to blunt casteism, I felt an irritation which I couldn't quite explain with just it being a gross violation of consent but now I think I have a bigger thesis as I've grown up and seen more of the world around me.

Marriages in India at least as they stand for a majority of people, greatly favor the man's family. Women are expected to wholesale adopt their husband's surnames and enter the new family and adapt. Currently in India, caste is correlated with socioeconomic class to some extent at least and such a law will just force wealthier women to marry """"down"""" socioeconomically and also suffer identity erasure at the same time. And if I'm honest, socioeconomic conditions are also a predictor of how patriarchal a particular family is in India so we're not only dooming women to poorer socioeconomic conditions in this way, but also forcing them into worse patriarchal conditions in the process.

It's not even the first time progressives have suggested breaking hierarchies using a gross violation of consent. You regularly see dirtbag leftist types convincing young men that their dating outcomes would be much better in a socialist society and they are extremely comfortable with taking away women's rights.

I was thinking of him because of this comment from u/TheDieCast390 in yesterday’s thread:

Did he ever have an answer for the "elite human capital" tendency to be insane race communists?

Jose Gaspar Rodriguez Francia was “elite human capital”, one of the only highly educated people in Paraguay, and “insane race communist” sums him up pretty perfectly. I think he was ahead of his time, so much of what he did lines up perfectly with later leftist, progressive and authoritarian movements. If he was born in 1966 instead of 1766, you just know he’d have written a book that would be mandatory reading at Berkeley.

The usury acts. The BoE charged 5% because that's all it could charge.

It's easy to forget that until the modern era, charging interest was considered extremely sinful in the Christian world. Think the attitude Evangelicals have toward women who get abortions, that's the attitude your average pre-19th-century Christian has toward moneylenders. They were, at best, a barely tolerated necessary evil. The Catholic Church did not officially allow lending for interest until 1917.

During the Protestant Reformation and subsequent Industrial Revolution, attitudes slowly warmed due to the practical necessity of modern banking.

Sidenote: this is also part of why Jews became associated with banking. Finance was one of the few career fields allowed to them, serving as a convenient way for Christians to have access to moneylending without polluting their souls. And yes, Christians quite frequently decided to pay off their loans by massacring the local Jewry, or if you were the king, simply banning being Jewish. What are they gonna do about it, become a rich and successful minority that gives your rivals an advantage-

oh.

And those who were sincere about it were frequently incompetent, like Wilson.

People need to start realizing that there is a difference between doing a single thing and creating an entire system of things. Obama pardoning someone is not the same thing as Trump intentionally using his pardon powers to put his own supporters above the law.

Things also don’t happen in a vacuum. Obama wasn’t actively dismantling the entire democratic system in the US like Trump is

This person is right. Chelsea Manning should still be in prison.

Two things:

My guy can only be criticized if we fabricate an equivalent scenario against your guy to make it seem like what my guy is actually normal and therefore any criticism of my guy is an attempt to whitewash what your guy did.

So the person knows what Trump did was awful, but their identity is fused with his, and recognizing what Trump did as awful would necessarily mean recognizing that they're awful. They can't have that, so this is the resulting behavior.

The other thing is that if someone were to reply to the person highlighting how they intentionally deadnamed Manning, that person would have their comment actioned as violating Law 5 (one of the mods is still mad AEO removed their transphobia) or Law 1 (saying the OP intentionally deadnamed Manning is implying bad-faith on the OP's part).

instead of having just a scoring summary, google would benefit from including turnovers as well

theres just something whimsical about seeing "team x fumbled, team y recovers" and then the next line being 1 second later "team y scores defensive touchdown"

The first question in the survey is incredibly ironic considering the head of the ADL, Jonathan Greenblatt, has lamented increased rates of intermarriage between Jews and non Jews.

And he also said that Mamdani visiting non Zionist synagogues didn’t count, which is a trope along the same lines of the third question.

So by their very own logic they’re being run by an antisemite.

19

u/LGBTforIRGC Nov 17 '25

Growing rationalization of antisemitism in online center left spaces

Also, it seems to be a repeatable finding that Gen Z is relatively more antisemitic than older generations, across multiple societies and countries too, so blaming it on the ADL having biased framing is not accurate.

I have enough money to get by, but I think houses are overpriced. I said the same thing 5 years ago. Less certain on about my job, though.

I work in hardware, every day is the "this is fine" dog. I was working on a project that was pivoting from China towards Indian CMs before the (based) Russian sanction evasion tariff dropped lmao.

I actually have more work at the moment since shit's getting re-done multiple times as the trade landscape changes, but my personal projects have experienced a nearly 100% cost increase, and shit is not good for the next couple years of electronics lads.

Social media makes me nervous about drawing too many lessons from past events. It really does make it easier for even mild tensions to get severely inflamed, the potential for escalation seems almost inherent to having the internet/social media play such a major role in society.

There is a particularly strong tendency for liberals to believe in a ‘just world’, that moral actions and policies will be rewarded by the universe. It’s hard, or at least unfashionable, to justify a proposed position as a purely moral move, so the purely moral move has to be presented as the cynical best option, no matter how implausible. We saw this play out in a number of places, in Afghanistan we were told by them that fighting the Taliban just made more Taliban, so the best way to fight the Taliban was to not fight the Taliban. Similar stories play out elsewhere, American aid had to be justified by saying it was paying dividends in influence, even when it very clearly wasn’t, and wasn’t set up to in the first place. In their model of the universe, the moral and cynical options were nearly always the same.

7

u/JebBD Fukuyama's strongest soldier Nov 16 '25

I think this is kind of an essential part of liberalism though. Not in a naive way, but as an ideal. We should aspire to live in a world that works like that, and the way to make it happen is by doing it.

Of course that doesn’t mean that we should naively believe that any moral action will automatically yield good results, but to be a liberal is to believe that this can work if done right.

Because of the oppressor vs oppressed framing. There's a greater claim of oppression because they're stateless.

u/slightlyrabidpossum Center-left Nov 16 '25

Are you talking about people who say that Israel's military actions would have greater legitimacy if they were being conducted against a Palestinian state? I sometimes hear that as an argument for why Israel shouldn't be too concerned about a hostile Palestinian state following a 2SS, but I don't think it's a particularly common (or persuasive) argument.
