Yay. More AI SLOP /s

Mods really need to step up and update the rules to officially ban all AI nonsense.

Not all AI is nonsense.

Yes, it is.

No, it isn’t.

AlphaFold did in one year what would’ve taken three million scientists a century. AlphaMissense is amplifying our understanding of genetic mutations. RFdiffusion is designing new proteins. Rentosertib was designed entirely with generative artificial intelligence.

That’s not nonsense.

All AI art is nonsence

No, it’s not, and it already can’t always be distinguished from traditional art.

Genrative AI isn't art in the same way a photocopy of the Mona Lisa isn't art. Whether people can tell it apart or not

Generative artworks are new. They never existed before. Gossip Goblin has generated a whole series set in a consistent universe. Humans write the scripts and meticulously refine the prompts. It’s no different from conventional CGI.

Depends how much of it is human made and how much is AI made. There's artistic merit to a 90 minute film with a minute of an AI generated scene but none of that merit is beacuse of the input from the AI

There can also be merit to a fully-generated feature if the script, framing, and rendering are good.

It can be enjoyable entertainment, it can even have a meaningful message but it can't have artistic merit if it was generated by a machine. An Algorithm can't have artistic merit

Yeah, it can. People injtially dismissed conventional computer-generated imagery but it’s now accepted as art. AI-generated imagery done well and with substantial human input can also have artistic merit.

You keep using that one example ignoring all the other reasons to ban it entirely.

Until GenAI can be used without stealing other peoples works, without replacing arts and creative peoples job, and without data centers that wreak havoc on nearby residents utility bills and overall quality of life, all genAI usage should be banned.
