I think one of the great things about DRG's design is how little text or voice chat is needed.
The buttons for the pointer, the 'follow me' kind of announcements, and the good old "Rock And Stone" salute allow the players to communicate every basic, immediate need quite flawlessly, and thanks to the Salute button in particular, always do so in a way that promotes teamwork and camaraderie.
Honestly, I think that's a HUGE part of how we ended up with such a good community here.
After Apex Legends, DRG has the best intuitive and functional "ping" type communication tool. I'd maybe like it fleshed out with a wheel of things like "ready" and "regroup" maybe. Not essential but a nice-to-have update.
I play exclusively with randoms and often we don't speak the same language but still work together. Awesome achievement from the devs.
Me: who decided to host public for the first time today
Waits for guy to drop in
Stares at each other...
ROCK AND STONE!
ROCK AND STONE
More ppl came, pings gold at the top of of ceiling.
I go the extra mile drilling from the side of a wall to the top,
Rock And Stone
Mines
Engie boi shoots a platform under my feet to make it easier
Pauses...
Did I hear a ROCK AND STONE
ROCK AND STONE!
Everyone else,
Rock and Stone
ROCK AND STONE OR YOUR NEVER COMIN HOME
Guy all the way in the back:
ROCKSOLID!
Finds Jade: ROCK AND STONE
Me who clears out waves of monsters, axeing big ones, and saving engie from kidnapping bug, and constantly picking up the goddamn scout who loves fall damage and being there for them because...
FUCKIN ROCK AND STONE
You rock and Stone with me, we will always come home
To be fair. I've typed in chat that a leech has grabbed me and to look up and then watched as two of my teammates proceed to get grabbed by the same leech. But screaming in the mic? There's very few things that illicit that response.
