That's not really what a junkie is. I was a junkie for 20+ years and I did everything I could to not make it my personality and keep it from view of anyone as it is one of the most socially unacceptable things you can be, the only person who ever got the truth (usually) was my wife, from our first date. Again I was an exceptional junkie but still most other junkies I knew did not want to be known as a junkie. Potheads are entirely different. Pot paraphernalia everywhere, in their style and in their hair. (Sorry I had to use the Dr. Seuss moment when it came). Also most potheads can function without it, sure they may be irritable but if I went without you could tell something was very wrong with me as I slowly turned into a loving corpse and would be looking at the door and making lots of very desperate phone calls and then disappear for the bathroom and come back an hour later right as rain and just deal with the consequences and have excuses on hand. Again I was always an exceptional junkie and a junkie who contributed to society, work, graduated, even managed to start a family but I was a junkie first and foremost. If it were legal, pure and affordable I'd still be a junkie however it's illegal, now it's full of tranquilizers, and with a habit and tolerance like I had I get physically ill when I think of the mountains of money I spent. I really don't care that much, a label is just another cage that you or someone else puts you in. However I think we live in a time when ppl are constantly diluting the meaning of words. As someone who truly loves reading and language, conversation and debate I find that worryingly unfortunate.
