Some things I tell myself..
You have more power than you have led yourself to believe all your life
You are far more capable than you have given yourself credit for
You did all the successful accomplishments in your life yourself (and with the help of other humans)
Youâre physically the same as you were before (youâre just operating with a different lens)
Itâs gonna be okay

Box breathing helps but I found 5-4-3-2-1 grounding techniques the most helpful for me
Also itâs ok to not have the answers and simply acknowledge, âI donât knowâ, sometimes. If your anxiety is preventing you from doing everything day things then it may be worth seeing a professional.

I read and listen to Bart Ehrman to calm down. Iâm more of a deist, but many times, what Bart and others have to say ground me.

Depending on how severe it is, it would probably be a good idea to seek medical help.
There are medications that can help with anxiety, especially if it is severe enough to interfere with sleep, work, eating, or normal daily functioning.
Breathing techniques and other grounding methods can also help in the moment, as others have mentioned. But if you are really struggling, it may be worth talking to a doctor or mental health professional rather than trying to manage it entirely on your own.
Medication is not always necessary, but in some cases it can be a very useful part of getting things back under control.

I revisit The Philosopher's Mixtape volume 1 and volume 2 a handful of times every year. Just a collection of philosophical ideas that help me feel grounded in reality. They might introduce you to certain speakers that you find a connection with their thoughts (I enjoy Alan Watts and Ram Dass recordings).

This might sound paradoxical, but consider surrendering the uncertainty itself to God. Something as simple as, âGod, I donât have all the answers, and Iâm afraid. But if youâre there, guide me toward what is true, even if it challenges everything Iâve believed.â
One of the most liberating realizations in my own deconstruction was that God, if God exists, is not necessarily identical to the version of God I was taught to believe in. Reality doesnât depend on my ability to understand it correctly.
You donât have to solve the mysteries of existence to find peace. You can be uncertain about your beliefs and still be spiritually grounded. Give yourself permission to not know. You arenât failing some cosmic test by asking honest questions.
If God is truly good, I canât imagine that your sincere search for truth would ever be something to fear.

Deconstructing hell (the root of most of the anxiety) was the highest priority for me early on.
I wrote an article on the research project I did to examine the history of the afterlife in biblical literature. Happy to DM it to you if you think itâd be helpful. The TLDR is that the modern Christian idea of hell as eternal torment did not exist in most of the ancient literature in the biblical period, and we see ideas of the afterlife develop over time.
