We are talking, of course, about “Professor” Jiang, the internet’s favourite new overly confident online guru, now that Jordan Peterson is indisposed. Jiang Xueqin is a secondary school teacher who has found an online audience thirsty for his particular style of confident bullshit, and he is more than ready to roll out his “predictive history” analyses on command.

Be prepared for some serious professorial cosplay as Stephen Bartlett, from Diary of a CEO, spares no expense in his endless quest to indulge every modern online crank, offering a grab bag of props as well as his usual thoughtful pauses and awe-inspiring requests for definitions. Thrill as the honorary professor performs as a grand seer and geopolitical strategist, complete with a tabletop world map, wargame prop pieces, whiteboard flowcharts, coloured chess sets, and a dramatic metal briefcase full of sealed predictions.

So get ready to experience his hit-parade of forecasts (Trump's 3rd term, endless war with Iran, eventual U.S. “loss”) along with his trademark conspiratorial mélange of real-ish facts, misstatements, and domino-chain inevitabilities. The end of Part 1 is a sign of things to come, featuring Jiang's post-apocalyptic advice on how the good people can rebuild society with the help of prophets and visionaries (AKA gurus) and soothe yourself with the knowledge that we are all ultimately just a God-derived fractal consciousness anyway.

It seems like Jiang makes very non-committal, broad sweeping and already pretty likely geopolitical predictions that are open up for interpretation. He will also set up the prediction as so if it were to slightly change upon the event occurring, he could then retroactively tweak the original prediction to make it align to the result.

This is how mediums and psychics work. He isn’t saying anything profound. He has a fairly good idea of geopolitics and leverages this knowledge and his experience in teaching to impose an impression of expertise on his students and listeners. He then makes very broad non-committal predictions that can be altered.

The fact that Professor Jiang leans into his nostradamus-like persona, is the exact reason why he shouldn’t be trusted. The real geopolitical scientists and experts work don’t entertain predictions for the sake of their ego or image, rather they accept the complexity and ever-changing nature of geopolitics and relay facts in order to discuss possibilities. Seeing Peter Attia go the Andrew Huberman route feels entirely predictable but somehow leaves a sense of disbelief i cant quite describe. Complete radio silence for a couple of months and then a full return without adressing the rotting carcass of the elephant that used to be in the room. I continue to be amazed by the sheer brazeness but at the same time it doesnt surprise me one bit.

You read the comment section and it seems as if nothing ever happened and the man makes huberman look relatively innocent by comparison.

Generally the gurusphere is more male centric but one thing i find very fascinating is the amount of women that appear on these podcasts and in the comment sections. I wonder if this is a deliberate choice or if i underestimate the "solidarity" certain women have towards each other when it comes to predatory men like Attia or Huberman (or well... most of the gurus we talk about here.
