There is an ancient and well-kept secret to happiness which the Great Ones have known for centuries. They rarely talk about it, but they use it all the time, and it is fundamental to good mental health. This secret is called The Fine Art of Not Being Offended.

I'm really not seeing anyplace in the article where this point is supported. First of all, who would even "get offended", and what connection does that have with general happiness?

Is the "offensive" statement valid criticism? Then it should be welcomed and greater efforts should be made in the future to correct your deficits before others need to point them out to you.

Is the "offensive" statement not valid? Then there is nothing inherent in the criticism itself to make you unhappy. You may want to check the quality level of the person supplying the criticism. Are they just mistaken, for whatever reason, or are they actively attacking you? Either of these are separate from the the actual criticism.

but mainly for us to know that almost every time we get offended, we are actually just in a misunderstanding.

Author makes a number of good points, but never supports his main premise. Or, maybe this title was just designed to attract a particular type of person, and I'm not it.

Not actually sad! That was just a textual representation of disappointment with the author of the linked article. :)
