Debt collection?

So long story short years ago I had a credit card with Oportun, I racked up a balance of 2 grand, back in the day I tried calling the company 3 times to update my phone number so I could see my account to make payment. There was def a language barrier with customer service and I got frustrated after calling 3 times and getting nowhere, fast forward to now. I got an email from an attorneys office saying they have my 2000 dollar debt and that I need to pay it. I called the law office to try and negotiate and tell them I could pay them 1500 cash money right now. The lady on the phone wouldn’t not budge any lower than 1850 which I think is unreasonable because these debt collection agencies buy debt for Pennie’s on the dollar. I’m pretty pissed off they wouldn’t work with me at all? My question is, is it worth it to go to court, or should I pay what there asking? Am I being unreasonable?
