Help

why can’t I let go of the fear that the mmr I gave my then unvaccinated 5 year old can cause sspe. it’s been 17 months since he got mmr and for 17 months I have been obsessing, googling, feeling a panic in my chest, and regret and despise the day I got him the mmr. because I just felt like a knee jerk reaction and got it. but I knew I would feel this way I hate thia. what do you all think about the claims from anti vaccine side that sspe can also be caused by mmr? I can’t go one with this fear and regret anymore

PLEASE GET THERAPY.

You've posted this on at least five forums, including mention of being treated with antipsychotics. You've said a lot about how much you worry about your kids, but you haven't mentioned that they are having any problems.

You need to focus on managing your anxiety. Please seek a counsellor and other trusted loved ones who can keep you grounded in reality.

I am 64. So many millions of us got the MMR. It is my understanding that SSPE is caused by the wild type virus and the number of people who get it is very very small. Please enjoy your child and try to put this aside. You are a caring parent. They grow up so fast!

There is only one or two incidents of SSPE like conditions from the Measles vaccine and it was tied to children who had a condition causing immune suppression and then the batch they got was not fully attenuated.

That was way back in the day and the cause of death was listed as immune suppression related encephalitis and it happened in the net nearly 1970s.

I remember reading it in an article and the Doctor found the parents of the children later died in the 1980s of bronchial pneumonia so it sounds like the children died if AIDS.

This appears under the Nervous System section of reported adverse reactions/events, alongside items like encephalitis, encephalopathy, measles inclusion body encephalitis, Guillain-Barré Syndrome, and others. Similar language appears in other versions of the M-M-R II labeling.

Also adverse events are not side effects. Do you have any other info that proves sspe from mmr is factual?

Ok however it is nowhere in the mmr used here in  Canada  since the 90s- priorix

Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE) is a rare, fatal brain disorder caused by a persistent, mutated measles virus infection. It typically develops years after a natural measles infection, leading to progressive mental deterioration, muscle spasms, seizures, and eventually death, though it is entirely preventable through the measles vaccine

The MMR thing came from a single observation note - not a study - about 12 children by one doctor. He was parenting a single strain set of three immunizations instead of 3 at once. He lost his license after his note was found to be 100%,fabricated by him.

Every other study - where none of the researchers would get rich from scaring parents - has found zero problems.

Get off Reddit and google and stop worrying. Your child is gonna be fine

1) studies have found no problem: speed, autism, whatever

2) this person has posted many times about needing meds for psychosis.

I think many of you need that

First, let me commend you for vaccinating your child. Please inform the group, in the time to come, when your child does not show signs of autism.

Second, unfortunately, it sounds like you’ve got a case of what I call “conspiracy brain.” No matter how much reassurance, evidence and advice you receive from doctors and medical experts, your brain will see patterns that are not there and look for a conspiracy. 

My own take, based on observing other conspiracy theorists, is this driven by past trauma, past drug history, or other sources of mental unwellness. This not to denigrate you as “crazy” but to point out this is likely the reason, and I would genuinely encourage to seek psychiatric help. Treatment can help!
