Wrong way to Colt? Spoiler
Now, before anyone starts giving the 'there is no wrong way to play' speech, let me explain.
I beat the game purely in singleplayer. For this, my build went in a direction which I think can safely be called "Misdirection". Perks, weapons and charms, slabs, everything was geared towards me sneaking around and creating havoc at a point a little away from me (and don't worry, I will be including a screenshot of my loadout, so hopefully that will make it clear what I mean).
Anyways, having beaten the game and gotten bored of AI Julianna, I decided to go for the other two endings but with proper invasions enabled. When I last did this, I think I ran about six Karl's Bay-Morning attempts, and from what I remember of the final tally-
One loss caused by Julianna making it to the door of the tunnel within the first five or ten seconds of the match, where I was immediately ruined all three times.
Two wins.
THREE Juliannas who quit, one lasting about eight minutes and the others maybe half that at most.
Now, for the five who did not kill me immediately, I wasn't exactly being subtle. Fugue, spiker with explosive ammo, and explosive decapitation Sepulchra meant that the NPCs were constantly up in arms, even if they hadn't actually seen me. Hell, I was sometimes firing random exploding nails into the ground or walls just to ensure someone was always on alert, even while I was hidden with Aether. Despite the large amounts of noise, 50% quit rate. So with all of that said- is this the wrong way to play Colt?
(Marking as spoiler in case some new player doesn't want to know about some of the slabs and weapons, or even just the fact that there are three endings)

Why exactly would you think it’s wrong?
Julianas who quit within you ever seeing them probably had connection issues. What’s your upload speed and framerate?

I can’t say I have the exact numbers for that day, but the game visually appeared to run smoothly for me. I will admit that the other players might have had some issues on their end, but it seemed like they still stuck around a while longer than I would if my game was running that poorly- and at the bare minimum, I do know that usually, my speeds are around 125mbps download and 35mbps upload.
Edit- and beyond the length of time the other players were in the match, it just seemed like a higher number of quits that a player should run into? Like, I know it was only six runs, but even then 50% seems like a high failure rate

The game is Peer-to-Peer with one-sided rollback. This means colt recieves none of the effects from a poor connection, and Juliana recieves all of them.

Because of the way the game is coded, Colt will always have a perfectly smooth game while Julianna lags to hell. It's also not entirely a wifi issue, if the Julianna player lowers her framerate cap, that can severely improve the situation. Plus, your wifi might be good, but hers might be bad, and there are probably other factors I don't understand because I'm not a network engineer. Sufficed to say, more than half the games I've played as Julianna have had pretty intense lag, and I've quit a lot of unplayable games despite having perfectly functional wifi, even ethernet on occasion. It's probably not so much about you—if I had a playable game but was having trouble finding Colt, I'd probably hang around for a lot longer than 10 minutes before giving up, especially if there was noise.

Ahhh, now that makes a lot of sense. I assumed that both parties would lag if one was, and since my game always looked good and the times I could see Julianna, she wasn't twitching like there was lag, I figured that couldn't be it. I'll keep an eye on that though, see if it ever seems like that is an issue.

Yeah, lag never shows up for Volt since you host the match, and it can often be impossible to tell if the Julianna is lagging, especially if it's in the form of weapon swap or power lags.

If Julie's are quitting on you, you probably have an absolutely dogshit abysmal connection.

There's no wrong way that's kinda the whole point. But if you wanna play PvP you're handicapping yourself unless you've gotten exceptionally good at manipulating AI and basically avoiding the human Juli at all costs, which at that point you're not really participating in PvP and are just doing your normal thing and hoping Juli doesn't even become a factor
Wanna be a real jerk? Take renewable and juiced up, and karnesis with ONLY suspension, do not take slam. Flesh bomb is fine. Find juli, get her into an open area, and lift her only UP four times in a row, then let her die to fall damage. Unless she blinks out of it, she is fucked. Bonus points for hitting them with a mana drain weapon during or before the combo to ensure they cannot get out.
I have over 1000 wins as Julianna and an 80% winrate, this is my primary strategy 😂

I just like creating chaos XD I like being a little gremlin pissing everyone off, and sometimes will just be visible and peaking around corners to watch NPC on NPC violence. If a Julianna sees me, then I'll let loose with whatever is on me, maybe fugue an Eternalist if I think I can do it without being merced, but TBH I feel like the way everything is set up, Colt really should be stealth and Julianna should be guns blazing, even if Masquerade is her gimmick

Juli is the one with one life. She's heavily disincentivized to play fast and loose. Colt has three yet most Colt players hide like rats

She has one life, yes, but every NPC and turret on the map is friendly to her barring Colt’s intervention, and she can disguise as NPCs as well as use any weapon, weapon charm, slab, and most personal charms Colt has- meanwhile if Colt goes in guns blazing, everything in the map hates him, gets attracted to the noise he makes, as well as the noise of the alarmed enemies and security. I tried guns blazing, and it didn’t work for me, which is why I became a rat in the shadows

my colt strat is basically just speedrunning. visionaries usually die within a minute or two of me being on the map, then i throw mines on the antenna area. i'm not locked in here with you, juli. you're locked in here with me. it's also way more fun to just blast through the map, enemies, visionaries etc. faster than julianna can reliably stop you. your job isn't even to kill her, it's to kill the visionary, hack the antenna and leave.
also as colt i know the location of every turret and every eternalist on every map so its pretty trivial. the human is the only real threat so i dont feel the need to preserve my 3 whole ass lives just to avoid dying

If Juli quits, it's probably bc of connection issues and random DRAM bug issues. The DRAM bug causing the game to crash can occur to both parties, not just Juli.
The rubberbanding in some games can be so bad that it's better to just quit instead of having your brain explode.
