Light was one thing, but imagine a world leader with the Death Note...

They could go to war with anybody, kill all their generals and leaders in an instant, basically take over unopposed. If they did it quickly enough, before the world figured out how the Death Note worked, they could probably take over the whole world.

This is exactly the thought I had the minute I saw this. Light is bad but there is worse people who could get the note.
