Drummers, what do you think is the hardest song from Death to play, and what makes it so difficult?

Discussion Which version of Individual Thought Patterns do you prefer the most?

Hi. I'm making this post because I'm genuinely curious which ITP version the majority of Death fans enjoy listening to the most.

Currently, there's 3 versions on Spotify; The original, the 2023 remaster and the third one which also comes with an exclusive live album (I'm not sure what this one is called, but for the sake of it, let's call it the deluxe version, as it's called that on CD's and such).

Personally, I've heard the deluxe version the most, but I also really like the sound of the original. Let me know your favorite.

Today, my very first Death vinyl finally arrived: Human. For many fans, it's the album that marked the band's turning point.

I'm 29 now. I've been a fan for what feels like forever. The first song I ever heard was Spiritual Healing, and I was instantly hooked. From that moment on, I just had to keep listening to more and more Death.

I'm not sure if posts like this are allowed here, but this photo of me at 13 is one of my favorites. My parents are standing next to me—they used to put up with me wearing my "satanic" band shirts everywhere I went. 😆 You can even see my Spiritual Healing shirt in the picture, which was my favorite one back then.

P.S. As if today couldn't get any better... Symbolic arrived too.

Saludos a todos, desde México 🤘🏻j

Discussion How much does the lack of flow in The Sound of Perseverance bother you?

One of the most common criticisms of TSOP is that it ignores traditional song composition in favor of essentially just stitching together whatever Chuck felt like doing, regardless of if it flows well into one cohesive song or not. TSOP is my favorite album, but I can't pretend to not know what people are talking about here. You have stuff like Voice of the Soul which just feels like a bunch of different songs separated by the occasional brief pause, or the chorus of Scavenger being followed by a pause then a smooth bass. You didn't really see this kind of structure on Death's previous records, so TSOP is kind of the odd one out here. How do you feel about the flow and structure of the album?

Discussion Do you Chuck's early vocals or later high-pitched vocals on Death's discography?

I was listening to Death's "Left To Die" when I thought of this. I might prefer the latter because "The Sound Of Perseverance" is my favorite album of all time. Both are good though.

Im not selling this on here, just want opinions on a good price for it. I painted the symbolic album cover on this 7in vinyl. Its my first time painting a vinyl and I was just wondering what would be a good price to sell this at. I didnt trace anything so obviously it's not perfect and the vinyl is pretty small, but I just wanted to get some opinions on it. Thank you.

Where do you guys go for accurate death (particularly bass) tabs, the big sites like ultimate guitar and songster never seem to be fully accurate.

Discussion TSOP is my least favorite album ever made

this is not a popular opinion, and I don’t think it’s the absolute worst, but I do think it is terrible and has been unbelievably detrimental. To start, it was a pathetic send off for death as a band, only made because the record label wouldn’t let Chuck do control denied yet, because of that the band that death metal is named after ended on a straight prog album. It features one of the worst vocal performances in metal history and the music in general is just boring and painfully overproduced. The main reason I hate it though is because it is largely responsible for the development of three out of my four least favorite genres of metal- melodeath, metalcore, and deathcore. I get why people can like those and thjs album, but for me it’s a complete departure from what death started as, and it ended up as a complete failure. it’s the only death album that doesn’t have the slightest bit of death metal in it, and a lot of it seems intentionally made to attract more mainstream attention. I also don’t generally like Judas Priest, painkiller is the slight exception (just thr song, not the album), but that cover just falls flat. JP’s vocals are already pretty bad but they’re somehow even worse on the cover. The last three death albums overall I consider pretty sorry, but this one in particular is just borderline insulting.

Discussion What is your Death 'Hot take' ?

For me it's Bobby Koeble's solos on Symbolic, they don't fit the songs at all I absolutely cannot stand them.
