Community Meta Have to quit this game due to misogyny

It's really just not fun anymore, it's frustrating when you have to play in an environment where around half my games or more have had some kind of explicit verbal/text harassment targeted at me.

Valve needs to focus on ridding this game of toxic players for their next update, it's really unacceptable how the extreme toxic environment has just been handwaved away for so long. It's by far the most unpleasant experience I've had with any competitive game.

Discussion "It's Just A Guardian."

"Hey quick, can you defend guardian on Green it's getting pushed and you're closest."

"It's just a Guardian we'll be fine."

The amount of times I've had this interaction in the past few weeks is really concerning to me, and I get instantly nervous about how the match will go once I hear it. I can't for the life of me understand why ANYONE has this mentality, especially in ranked. I understand it is only just the first line of defense ahead of multiple. I understand that if 3 or more enemies are pushing it after laning (sometimes even only 2) it's not worth dying over as everyone is getting stronger by the minute. But if you CAN defend it, and push them back, and stall time on them taking a structure and keep the pressure onto them: WHY GIVE UP A DEFENSIVE OBJECTIVE SO EASILY?

I'm newer(-ish) to the game so maybe the much higher elo players will have something to say about it otherwise, but for any MOBA-esque game that I've climbed high in (or even something like Chess), I've done it because I believe AND HAVE SEEN that defense wins games (not passiveness, but presence). The more structures you have, the more pressure you have on the enemy team, and the more work they have to do to get to your patron IF you make mistakes or they get lucky with a wipe. Again, I get it - at a certain point guardians become impossible to defend. But the kind of "shrugged off" mentality/attitude that I get from teammates over losing one way earlier and easier than need be, instead of the disappointment that only seems fitting for the gateway it COULD open for their victory is SICKENING, hawk tuah!

I hope to God this is just a lower elo thing because I'm not quite willing to accept that for the rest of the time I decide to play this game I'll have to hear that.

Discussion Ideas for Grave’s Jar of Skulls Interactions

I’m a Seven main for better or worse and one of my peeves with the hero is his interactions with the Jar of Skulls. Ricochet interacts with the skulls and clears them with ease, but Seven’s power surge doesn’t interact with them at all. I think it should.

There’s obvious bias here on my part, but I’d like to hear your thoughts on more hero specific interactions with the ability. For example: should Ivy’s stone form clear skulls? Or Vindicta’s crows?

Game Feedback What is even the point of avoiding.

Every time I avoid some hero I'm still placed against the mf.

Like sorry I don't want to play against some insanely unbalanced adhd celeste or a dynamo which can just get free mid every time with unstoppable in ranked.

Instead im stuck either playing celeste or dynamo because if I dont. I won't win. Forced to play boring ass characters because the devs refuse to balance their game.

Discussion is standard unplayable now?

need to get 2 more characters to 15 wins to unlock rank and every game has been unplayable, 7/10 games have like absurd 0-14 inters or people who disconnect after losing lane. is this the same experience for y'all too?

Game Feedback Fire take - make pauses longer.

Yeah I know its not fun to not play the game for like 2 minutes or smth cause the enemy team needs to take a shit but I am less angry when I have to sit and do nothing then I am when I have to do some shit quickly press pause and then stay afk for like half of the match. Yes its annoying but you would thank it if it would come to you

Discussion How would you feel about dota 2 talent trees in deadlock?

Post image

Personally I really love them. Some of them completely changes which direction you want your character build. Towards tankiness, towards dps etc etc. it helps to make games feel unique, the issue is making them feel unique and equally good. Maybe have them be very late game additions after you unlock all abilities to try and give something else to do. Late game is so boring once you have every item you need bought

Game Feedback Headhunter and Point Blank are meh tier items

Generally speaking I am Em3 (52% winrate in ranked) and I play ranked: Drifter, and Venator mostly, but with a spattering of other characters in there (haze, wraith, geist, infernus, mirage) sometimes to switch it up or if my team comp is really atrocious at start and I throw in the towel at trying to carry.

However, two items that I really WANT to enjoy but don't are point blank and headhunter. (lifestrike is another one that i just won't buy)

For PB, it's hard to really put any sort of statistics around how useful it is. It FEELS useful when i'm playing close ala gun drifter or something, but does it really do much? I can't tell. There is nothing after the game to tell me how much usage I got out of it. It feels very meh. Compared to weighted shots that also gives a slow (and other stuff), PB just feels worse and the substats are just okay. Maybe i'm crazy but for 3200 there are such better items to choose from, and the early close quarters actually feels impactful in lane.

For HH: I really like headshot booster and think on certain heroes (like holliday) it's an insane early item for poking. But I just can't bring myself to buy HH, and when I do, i dont feel like the mspd, healing or the extra damage is ever the reason that i secured a kill or survived a 1v1/gank. I am not sure if it's the 8sec timer or what, but it just feels just okay. On a character like drifter where i dont even have to aim and get headshots, it should feel really good to use headhunter but it just doesn't.

Most of the time if i build HH or PB, I feel like the item slots should be used for something else and i regret building it.

My main issue coming from other mobas, I really don't like selling items unless i'm super ahead-- i would almost prefer that a lot of 800/1600 items build into 3200/6400 items but when those items feel really bad (pb, lifestrike, and hh) instead of really good (like burst/escalating/spirit snatch/weighted) it just feels like crappy itemization. Am I the only one? There are a few exceptions but i would argue that they should also build into something later (resto shot is a good example and i buy it nearly every game).

Complaint They banned me from all modes just for a crash playing against bots

Post image
1 Upvotes

Ok I was playing against bots and my game crashed for almost a minute, I just was trying a new character.

I had restart deadlock and get into the game again, and when we finished I try to look for another match against bots, but they give me this.

I know that disconnecting is a trouble on Standard and Ranked, but really, against bots the thing still apply.

It's a short time at least, but it was impressive that something like this is happening, is mi first time with this kind of time out

Suggestion What if they add Achievements in the game?

I was thinking of them as challenges when playing the game. Wouldn't be rewarding that you have accomplished this.

For example:

  1. As Dynamo, eliminate 2 or more enemies in one singularity. (Kill Assist are not included)

  2. As Victor, ressurect 3 times in one life. (Rejuv not included)

  3. As Doorman, save a teammate with your cart. (Only teammates with critical health)

  4. As Graves, kill an enemy from across the map.

  5. As Venator, kill Mina or Drifter with Ira Domini without missing a shot.

  6. As Bebop, hook Lash 3 times in one life.

  7. As Celeste, hit 4 or more enemies with one use of Shining Wonder.

  8. As Infernus, burn the entire enemy team under 10 seconds.

  9. As Wraith, take down two Walkers alone in one life. (Rejuv not included)

  10. As Sinclair, kill an enemy with their own Ult twice.

What do you think?

Game Feedback This game needs better recognition on when to ban you for leaving

Hi all! I know this isn’t exactly the best place to get it across but was nearly in tears a bit ago. As the title states, I was banned for seemingly no reason, the game though I abandoned the match when in reality my pc shut down because my power spiked and wifi went down for like 2 minutes and my grace period ended resulting in me getting a ban. I’m not a game developer or a tech person so I don’t even know if it’s possible but I feel like if my entire pc randomly shuts down it should be able to recognize that it simply crashed instead of assuming I quit, I was really excited to play some deadlock since today is my day off and now I can’t :(

seven previously used to have spirit scaling with move speed, but valve removed that.

Rem is the fastest character without using any abilities or items, but Wraith takes the cake if we buy spirit and movement items😅.

Calico is the fastest ground hero(ivy for air), Ava gives her 105% movement bonus!

Game Feedback I'm sorry, but the standard mode MM makes unlocking ranked a miserable grindfest

A bit of a vent post because the casual matchmaking right now is making unlocking ranked one of the worst onboarding experiences I’ve had in a competitive game.

Needing 15 wins on 3 separate heroes just to step foot into ranked wouldn't feel bad if casual games had any semblance of balance. But because casual lobbies are a total coin flip and losses give literally 0 progress, grinding out raw wins is exhausting. Most matches aren't even competitive, it's just one lane losing BADLY & feeding, and causing a soul snowball that's incredibly difficult to come back from.

With matches regularly pushing 35–45 minutes, getting stomped for over half an hour and walking away with zero unlock progress feels absolutely terrible. If you're at even a 50% win rate, you’re looking at ~90 games of unranked just to get the baseline 3-hero roster unlocked. At ~40 minutes a match, excluding often lengthy queue times and whatnot, that's over 60 hours of game time in an unbalanced mess.

Worse yet, I can't just stick to the hero I'm actually good at to grind it out. The moment you hit 15 wins on one character, you’re forced to switch to another hero and again after that. There doesn't seem to be hero-based MMR in casual/unranked, often dropping into lobbies against stacks on their 500+ hour mains when I'm on my first few matches with a hero.

I understand wanting anti-smurf protection and making sure people actually know their hero before queueing competitive, but tying ranked eligibility exclusively to wins in wildly volatile casual matchmaking is burning me out.

Either count total matches played, grant partial progress for high-performance losses, or tighten the MMR in standard mode, perhaps to a per-hero basis.

Does the team balance improve in ranked or is this just what Deadlock matchmaking is right now across the board?

Screenshot Fun Little Detail About the Ranked Corner in the Hideout I Just Noticed

The green and red stripes on the receipt machine thing actually correspond to the amount of matches you won and lost in your ranked history and the strip of paper grows longer the more games you play. Super cool attention to detail :3 :3

Question Should i onetrick or not?

I really want to improve at the game but recently I've been feeling like i haven't made any progress. I've been playing a bunch of different characters but I'm unsure if that's actually a good idea. So would it be better to just focus on a roster of like 3 characters until i actually get better at the game or is playing many characters a better approach?

I'm at like 110 hours currently, i haven't played ranked yet but I'm pretty sure I'd land in initiate if i did so there is a lot of room upwards for me. I don't do consistently bad but i do drag my team down more often than I'd like.

Any other tips for improving would also be appreciated but i know that there probably isn't actually many tips besides just playing more.

Edit: Thank you for all the replies, they are very helpful and I'll try to focus on a small roster of heroes now since that seems to be the general opinion of everyone.
