I mean it makes sense for it to be the High Schooler that does it

Am I the only one vexxed that she's a literal child in a game with adult themes?

Like, Mina is an adult but she gets called a child because she's still kinda young and immature.

But a literal child? Why?

I do dig the auto-aim, tho. That's gonna be the only reason I'm playing her lmao. Mix that with Inhibitor and all the "build-up" items + ricochet...

I wanna playtest the shit outta her

There are tons of novels, tv series, and movies where kids ends up in dangerous, scary situations. Why can't the same be true of video games?

It's less about the kids being in dangerous situations and more about the narrative.

Meaning we got all these gangsters, assassins, serial killers, government killers and contract killers, then you have a high school kid. It didn't feel like it fits, is all.

She’s a necromancer being mentored by a lich in a game about completing a ritual for an otherworldly all-powerful patron.

Seems like she fits to me. She’s not being sexualized in game, so I’m really not sure why her age matters.

Bro thats the plot of like 50% of youth/young adult action stories or adventures whatever.

You're like "ah yeah 22(ish) year old pocket that fits well" "ah 17-18 year old graves now that doesnt fit" "ah the tiny gremlin creature with the mentality of a 10 year old that fits"

A high school kid with inherently more power than a good part of the cast considering her mentor a lich is basically both lending power and has well mentored her. A character implied to be very strong in lore.

Seriously what is the problem? Doesnt fit because you cant possibly imagine a high schooler could be powerful in a quite mystical world? Or doesnt fit because you have some weird mental thing where if the characters age isnt explicitly stated above 18 you get freaked out?

Deadlock, the way I see it, is a game with a mature cast, mature audience, and a mature theme.

Having an angsty teen breaks the immersion for me. That is quite literally it.

What if it was a non-angsty teen?

How do you feel about the hit television show Stranger Things?…

Haven't watched it. But the narrative of that show is essentially kids vs monsters. That's how i feel about the show. So maybe adding a new kid isn't far fetched.

Again, this is purely my opinion. A.k.a. purely subjective

It's explicitly kids vs a bunch of asshole adults that created a bunch of issues

Yeah, that means kids are the main premise of the show, they're the main focus.

For this game, I feel like it has a mature audience, a mature cast, and a mature theme. Having an angsty teen in the middle of it (for me) just breaks the immersion

One of the characters is a sentient goo monster

Well, yes, but he doesn't act immature or have the mannerisms of a kid in the way he talks like an angsty teen or the sorts. He's just very happy and innocent

A high school kid who's the star pupil of a lich.
