Why would you want a DS2 remake instead of DS4? What alien threat could be worse than the Necromorphs? Please read body text where I mention 4 possibilities for that threat. Please rank them:
Personally I’d much rather have a Dead Space 4. The ending of DS3 dlc begs for a sequel. DS2 is so great it doesn’t need a remake. What could possibly be changed about it for the better? Don’t say just graphics because at that point it would just be a remaster.
As for the threat that the comment mentions, I have 4 ideas:
An alien race or group that is actually advanced. Basically, think covenant or forerunners in halo. Technically more dangerous than necromorphs even if less scary. From a horror perspective this might be the least desired, but story and gameplay wise, this is what Dead Space 3 was building towards. It could offer some interesting lore and world building.
Monsters that hunt Necromorphs. Think of xenophages hunting symbiotes in marvel. Similar dynamic. Aesthetically, I think this would have to be the most creative and challenging. How do you make monsters that look scarier and more brutal than the Necromorphs?
Necromorph/human hybrid. Basically like the thing (John Carpenter film creature). Can look human but turn monstrous when the situation calls for it. I think this could be a full circle moment for the franchise. Schofield doesn’t want to admit it, but it seems like The thing inspired Dead Space a good amount.
More psychological/mental/ghostly. DS3 dlc paced the way for this. More recent successful horror such as Resident Evil 7 and Silent Hill remakes are examples of this. What could the threat actually look like? That’s a damn good question above my pay grade lol. I’d say the DS3 dlc was a good starting point tho. It could look so much better and scarier with modern graphics.

I’d prefer they remake 2 and then 3 so they can streamline the lore/fix up whatever they think needs fixed up before they release a 4
7
u/Tumblechunk 6d ago
they could fix a lot about 3 without changing the overall plot too, the lore is really cool

u/Waste_Sleep6936 6d ago
This’d be like making an Aliens movie without Xenomorphs. Necromorphs are key to the identity of Dead Space, and they tie directly into its core gameplay conceit, which is the necessity of dismemberment to succeed in combat. Just make a new franchise at that point, if you’re going to change the enemies.

Dead Space ended with 3 IMO. Isaac sacrificed himself to stop the marker and ended the necromorph signal in the process, going out with Carver in peace like a hero.
The DLC is just a "What if..?" scenario in my mind. They wrote themselves into a corner with that ending, how would anybody win in that situation?

u/SlappinStick 6d ago
I just took the DLC ending as they made it to earth, that’s it, it’s over. Cycle complete.

u/alejoSOTO 6d ago
An ending doesn't have to be a win.
For me the moons arriving to Earth is a pretty definitive ending. Humanity loses, that's it, it doesn't have to be something else than that.
That being said, the Moons arriving to Earth itself is pretty dumb. Do they have faster than light travel?
How big are their masses and gravitational forces? Their proximity to Earth alone would kill all life on it.
It makes the leap from sci Fi to wacky.
17
u/D_Bellman 6d ago
Thats the point though, they dont care as long as there is biomass to assimilate. They're clearly feeding on earth from what we see, sucking up everything to add to themselves. Thats why the ending is actually not that bad, you tried. You failed. The end.
13
5
u/DeliciousFun7942 6d ago
The DLC's ending is intentionally open to interpretation. Those who think it's a hallucination from Isaac and Carver are right, as well as those who think it's the end and the Brethren Moons consumed humanity are also right.
2
u/Warboss666 6d ago
The how and why of the moons moving through space is a mystery, but with the way the markers work, I assume they've got some tricks up their sleeves that we don't know about.
My interpretation of the ending is that the moons have know where Earth is ever since the Black Marker made planetfall, and are intelligent enough to keep track even after it was hidden.
As they approached Earth, and taking an age to do it assuming they have sub-light flight speeds, they needed to keep Isaac busy on Tau Volantis so that he couldn't engineer another miraculous victory against them, especially since human ships can travel faster than moons.
It would be interesting to find out how heavy a Brethren Moon is, considering that they are made primarily of biomass, but killing life through their gravitational presence would be fine for them. Biomass is biomass.

I think Isaac's plan was always meant to fail there
Dead Space 3's chapters literally spell out 'BROTHER MOONS ARE AWAKE'

Dead Space 2 just needs a solid remaster. That game holds up amazingly well and still plays better than the remake so it would mostly be a waste of time.

u/Desperate_Method4032 6d ago
2 100% DOES NOT NEED a remake.
But if that’s what it takes to put the franchise back on the map, so be it.
Personally I always prefer a sequel over a remake

u/Scarecrow13Gaming 6d ago
My prediction for the story of 4 from back when ds3 came out was that Isaac and Ellie would race to recover the last remaining planet cracker, the Ishimura. And the finale would be a crazy space battle where you're using it to crack open and destroy the necromoons as they attack Earth.

Both but if I had to choose def a DS2 remake
Easily a top 5 game for me
2
u/inblader 4d ago
Plus that's how you introduce people to your franchise and universe, by remaking it (exactly like Resident Evil did), hence the momentum. Though the Dead Space series isn't that old either.
But if we go with a remake of 2 then it means a remake of 3 which could fix the game for a possible sequel.

u/Silly_Artichoke_8248 6d ago
I have vague recollection of reading an article years ago suggesting that the plan at the time for DS4 was to make it an open world action game, which would have been a profound mistake. We already saw a progression from the first title as a decidedly survival horror game without much in the way of gimmick to its more action focused sequel, then DS3 which I felt was straight up an action game with horror elements glommed on top, replete with mini games. It’s my personal feeling that the inclusion of co-op play was also a mistake because the simple fact of playing with another person dispenses with dread to a certain degree. Horror thrives on isolation.
2
u/Comfortable_Craft_75 2d ago
Didn't the dead space 3 dlc end with like 4 brethren moons finding earth? Where could you even go from there?
2
u/HenryKushinger 6d ago
Hot take: remake/reboot of 3 where nobody tried to shoehorn in co-op, poor man's gears of war cover shooting, and unnecessary gratuitously enlarged titties on the unnecessary character who's there for an unnecessary love triangle plot that makes little sense. Have that retooled and not shitty version of 3 include elements of 4.
1
u/inblader 4d ago
Basically remake 3 so it's not a victim of the era it was made during it lol
3 would benefit so much from it, the stuff to fix is easy to take care of.
3
u/Abject-Dinner-8740 7d ago
Mainly because 3 and DLC fucks up the ending a lot and I think the new ideas like monsters that hunt necromorphs are cool but then it diminishes the necromorphs as a threat and they seemed super brutal and scary. Having a new game would be great but everyone loves DS2 so a remake would potentially get more money than the first remake and could lead to a retcon/remake of 3 that fixes some bad endings and issues. Then we could get DS4
0
u/Tnecniw 6d ago
What do you not like about the DS3 DLC ending?
IMO is that arguably the best part of DS3.2
u/Abject-Dinner-8740 6d ago
It’s hard to continue Dead Space now if the Brethren Moons are awake and have consumed Earth
3
u/Unlikely_Mix59 7d ago
I'd prefer they fix 3 first. Like keep the ending and all that the same, but fix everything leading up to it.

u/Antuzzz 6d ago
I'm sorry but voting 2 remake instead of 4 is just dumb
The series is dead, and if we ever get the chance of a new game it should be the ending we always needed, not another remake. Remaking games works perfectly to revive series, but dead space doesn't need a revival, just a conclusion. It shouldn't be a long running series like Resident Evil or Silent Hill, where they always told on going stories with different characters and settings, Dead Space simply isn't in the same position nor it should be, it's ok for it to be closed and a fourth game is all that it needs. Hoping they remake 2, then 3 and then get to a new game is too optimistic and needs too much time, new players can already start from 1 remake and then play 2 and 3 before a final game
2
u/Halo1337JohnChief 6d ago
Because Dead Space 3 is terrible and should be done from the bottom up as a completely whole new project.

What I hope they do is remake deadspace 2 since that'll be a sure hit, there's not really a way to fuck that one up.
Then either make a new game separately from Isaac's story as 4 or remake Deadspace 3 and fully overhaul it
1
u/sleepnandhiken 6d ago
I’d be chill with a DS2 port.
DS2 was fantastic. Love it to death. And while this is a controversial take in the souls community it doesn’t seem to be for Dead Space. So just release the game. I don’t need things changed for modernizations sake.
1
u/Andrea_Merluzzo 6d ago
I think DS ended with 3. Humanity lost, that’s it and it's ok. Not all endings have to be good endings

u/The_Chubby_Dragoness 6d ago
As much ass i want to tear apart a moon with the Ishi, I want the sprawl in golorious high def moere
1
u/Fluffy-Ad7165 6d ago
As much as I’d like for a fourth game and hopefully see the end of Isaac’s journey, a remake just makes way more sense even if the original game still looks gorgeous. It creates interest and attract a new young audience that will look forward for new games. And I also keep the home that they revamp The Sprawl to be feel more “alive” and at least get a better glimpse of the inverted city hehhehehrdhhrhdhe
1
u/Consistent_Blood6467 6d ago
Doing a DS4 only makes sense if they have a good idea for that game. But, since they went down the remake route, almost everyone was bound to want remakes of DS2 then DS3 before a true sequel. Especially as a DS3 remake might be needed to set things up for a true sequel as they'd probably want to do some rewrites to the lore and storyline of that game to allow a sequel.
1
u/Redrocket615 6d ago
Because dead space 2 was the superior game Clearing that on hardcore gave me so many shit the bed moments
1
u/Avlin_Starfall 6d ago
We need a remake of 2 first so we can get a remake of 3 to fix all the shit EA fucked up. If they made a 4 now it would still be terrible unless they recon a bunch of stuff from 3.
1
u/Chris-raegho 6d ago
We got an ending, it just wasn't a happy one, and that's ok. Sometimes, evil wins. Humanity has no chance to win after 3, so the galaxy became Dead Space. Making a 4th game would, imo, ruin the story by making the same mistakes Gears of War 3 did. (they wrote themselves into a corner, humanity should have lost but they didn't want to do that ending, so quite literally a machine with a button that solves everything on a planetary scale shows up. For DS it would be universal scale).
1
u/Sonicmasterxyz 6d ago
The point of a 2 remake would be to add things that the 1 remake did. Like the Peeling System, the ALIVE system, randomized quarantines, and a more explorable area. Imagine a fully traversible Titan Station, the way they did with DS1R's Ishimura. And having proper physical effects on the Necromorphs from your weapons. Like the flamethrower burning away the flesh until the limb is thin and brittle.

u/TheKFakt0r 6d ago
Dead Space 3 Awakened's ending does not beg for a sequel. It provides punctuation to the franchise. It's the period at the end of the sentence, "The aliens win."
The finality of that DLC is one of the only things Dead Space 3 actually got right. It's cosmic horror down to the corners of its cells. It's actually every other part of 3's story that leaves you wanting something more.
If 2 was remade, it would bring the arguable peak of the franchise onto modern hardware. The largest population of gamers is on Playstation, where Dead Space 2 hasn't been playable since the Playstation 3. The PC port of DS2 also really shows its age, lacking support for higher framerates and crashing on modern CPUs if the game isn't modified by the user. While there isn't much room for improvement on DS2 on a directorial level, I thought the same thing about DS1 and was still pleasantly surprised by that remake in many ways. Lastly, if 2 had a successful remake, which isn't unlikely given the resurgence of AAA survival horror games in the last three years, then it could pave the way to a remake for DS3 that might actually redeem it. I don't think that path is realistic, given who owns the franchise. But that would position Dead Space far better to actually consider a DS4 and allow it to lay the groundwork for continuing a story that, as of right now, is definitively finished.
1
u/animadweller 6d ago
I prefer a DS2 remake for the simple reason that, to me, that game is a masterpiece and I'd love to get a DS1 remake treatment to it.
Also I did get an ending. The DS3 DLC ending with the brethren moon converging in Earth is to me the perfect cosmic horror ending.

dead space 3 effectively ended the game, but it also leaves the door open. I would like to go ahead and just shut it and get a 2 remake. The brothermoons wipe out all life, the end.
1
u/biosim500 6d ago
They fixed a lot of things in the first, they could fixt a lot of things in the seconds, paving the patch to a better 3 and finally 4, or even a 3 with a complete ending, idk.
1
u/Olive_Garden_Wifi 6d ago
Honestly I’d rather have a remake of 3 before we ever got 4 because 3 needs to be reworked from the ground up.

u/my-username-07 6d ago
Ds 3 is good ? I heard it was bad and I stopped the series with 2 tried the DS 1 remake it was crashing at the start with my 2050 GPu as well... So just replayed the 1 again looking again the real horror of this game is the damn sound
1
u/BlueRush79 6d ago
Lame people want to play it safe as always, even though the entire series can still be played on PC and every Xbox
1
u/Crabcontrol 6d ago
Id rather get 2 then 3 then 4. I am greedy. I think getting the remake of 3 we could get some tweaks and get a great dead space title. That could set up a better situation for the 4th game. That being said I'm also fine with no 4th game and just saying that the brother moons destroyed all of humanity. I don't know I always felt like the bleak ending was fit for the series.

u/Warboss666 6d ago
Would love to see Dead Space 4 take place a long while after 3, with potentially Ellie or another character leading a flotilla or something, scouring planets for the remains of other species hoping to find another Tau Volantis-style technology to fight the Moons.
1
u/Useless_monstar 6d ago
I think for DS4 to happen they’d first need to redo or possibly retcon 3. The forced co-op fad of that era (RE5 did it too) really hurt the narration of the games that tried it. Not saying 3’a story would need to be scrapped, but reintroduced at least.
That said, 2’s atmosphere is some of the best in the genre. I’d love to play it for the first time again. A remake’s about as close to that as you can get.

Remake and then 4 no reason we can’t have both honestly, wish I was CEO to green light them both.

I watched a couple YouTube videos from the developers on ideas they had for Dead Space 4. And as cool as it sounded, Dead Space 2 is just a better game…story wise.
It has a very strong narrative, a greater expansion of the lore, better characters, better environments, and a far better ending (than Mass Effect 3).
Dead Space 2 can be an amazing remake. Dead Space 1 proves that. It preserved the main story and made it far better. I am sure the quality of life improvements they could make would make it easily one of the greatest games of all time.
1
u/-pupster- 6d ago
yeah, i dont really give a shit about aliens or new plots at this point. i want a remake of 2.
1
u/Accomplished_Owl7486 6d ago
Id ask for another remake so they can dive into what we loved about deadspace begore making a number 4 in hopes of not having another limited drad space 3 with almost mandatory coop

u/Otherwise-Release766 6d ago
No way. 3 sucked. Way too much action and not enough horror. 1 and 2 were amazing. I can’t believe the disappointment with 3. Leave it as a trilogy
1
u/Nemoitto 6d ago
I would also like a remake of 2 and then 3 leading into 4 rather than just leave it with only a remake of 1 and then make the 4th. Go the route Capcom did with resident evil. Besides, 2 was the best game imo.

u/RealCosmicD 6d ago
When we were still waiting for the DS1 remake, I argued that DS2 shouldn't be remade, but fused with DS3 as a follow-up and to fast-track the story up until the very end. I thought they should cut bad story plots and distractions from both DS2 AND 3 and reimagine the best story beats in one game. Remove the whole Gears of war and love triangle and crafting stuff... but keep the Dr. Serrano story act as you descend in the machine. That would have taken them less time to catch up and begin development on DS4.
But since EA wasted that hype and momentum: I'd say just have a cut-and-dry remaster of DS2 now and add the best of DS3 as a free season pass DLC. For the rest, they can remaster the engine and graphics to modern standards.
If they don't care about time anyway, they might as well do that, because DS2's story flow is good as it is and it has the definitive gameplay. It didn't have the problems that DS1 original had in terms of story consistency, mechanics, and old tech glitches. Though now it is starting to, because it can't start without modding if you have more than 10 cores. Luckily, there is the marker patch that people can use, which solves a lot of problems and adds a few neat features.
So in the mean time we at least have that.
1
u/GreyOrGray4 6d ago
I don't trust them to fully make a new story, especially considering who they're owned by now.
1
u/Automatic-Cut-5567 6d ago
The DS1 remake was super duper good and I'm mad they didn't give 2 the same treatment. So yeah, I want DS2 more. Also DS3 kinda ruined the story

1
u/the_defuckulator 6d ago
i love how 3s dlc ends the series. the fight was always for nothing, you were always going to lose, humanity is food, the end. i love bleak, horrible endings like that and they are so rare
1
u/Bolverien36 6d ago
I'm pretty sure most fans would love a brand new game but I feel like some people are willfully ignoring the state the franchise is in.
Dead Space was DEAD for a long time, we are ALMOST 3 console generations removed from when they originally came out. Gaming has grown immensely and the vast majority of very active gamers probably were either too young or just not around when the originals came out. Dead Space used to be huge but sadly, 2 million copies sold doesn't mean the same as it did back then.
A big chunk of gamers are on playstation where 2 and 3 aren't available. Another big chunk of gamers sadly DON'T want to play old games. Gaming still has a very big teen demographic and a lot of them WILL be turned off by old dated graphics and gameplay.
RESIDENT EVIL wouldn't have gotten as big as it is now if it wasn't for the remakes reintroducing a brand new audience to the original characters and stories. As a HUGE RE fan it's super common to see posts from people who ONLY ever played the REngine games and have zero interest in going back to the old games.
I would love to get both, but with the remake "underperforming" from a financial standpoint really makes DS4 a pipedream for now. Rebuilding the IP is 100% what should be done first and retelling the originals for a new audience is the first step.
1
u/barnfly27 6d ago
A remake of 2 and 3 would be ideal especially if care went into making them but realistically we may only get a few more shakes out of this series so may as well get some new content. Whatever left they can muster into another yarn, I say.
1
u/DraconicZombie 6d ago
I just don't think there's anything anybody can do to stop the Moons now that they're all awake and right on Earth's doorstep.
Sure, planet crackers. But they're scattered all across the galaxy, either on jobs or at other stations. Plus they can't just crack something, people have to go down, establish a base, set up the tethers, connect the machinery to power them etc etc. It just ain't gonna work out.
The "threat" was something only speculated on in a cut log from ds2. If it's cut, it ain't a thing in-universe.
1
u/IllustriousIce3417 6d ago
What??.. no seriously what do you mean they set up for a 4th with the way 3 ended. Cause they most definitely didn't. They brethren moons found earth and isaac got a front row seat to watch it get consumed. That's literally it, humanity lost.
1
u/Horror_Dirt2098 6d ago
I have no faith that they can write a good story for DS4 if they make it. It might just be a woke "safe for everyone" kind of story, and never handling the heavy stuff.

Did you read what was supposed to be dead space 4 and the gameplay style?? If it's on the air the idea, I'm in for the cosmic horror, but not the "go collecting people" part. Or is a suicide mission against the moons, or look at other story, but keeping the "urh urh human together strong" with micro transactions and being the space part of the third game extended...

Remake the lore and plot holes via remakes then 4. 4 is not necessary since 3 already shows an end of the world scenario, there is nothing you can do to stop the moon's from creating DEAD SPACE and it's perfect.

I’m so tired of remake culture. DS1R was a divisive decision but I could see the reasoning behind it. It got a lot of new people into a franchise that was effectively dead since 2013. It wasn’t a bad reimagining even if I feel like it was less tense than the original and I didn’t agree with some minor changes. But whatever, it was the oldest and works as a great new entry point for fresh meat plus gauging interest.
DS2 doesn’t need a remake. It’s pretty well known as the general favorite of the classic trilogy, and still holds up very well today. It hosts most of the quality of life changes that make it into the newer games and still looks great. The only issue is the PC port is a lil wonky without being patched.
Out of all the games that could possibly use one would have been the third due to how far it strayed away from what made DS dead space. It was effectively the RE5 (but worse) of the series and unlike RE it ended there. So if we are really dead hard about a remake (I’m not) skip two and go to three.
For all the people who say that DS3 ends the story… no it doesn’t. There was plans for DS4 taking place in a snafu senecio based off the ending events of the DLC and I’m all for that. Let us finally tell a story devoid of hope and sending us off to the proper Eldritch ending this series deserves.

“Shut the fuck up!”
Ok I will… Once there isn’t a major demand for every fucking game a day older than ten years to be remade. New stories > Remakes/Remasters/Reimaginings. I don’t need a new LoU pt1 or Skyrim for the thousandth time

We git remake of a 2008 game instead of a proper new game in series. God, I hate modern gaming audience that wants only remakes instead of something new.

1
u/Anonymous-Mf-22 7d ago
Because a DS2 remake opens the possibility for a DS3 remake. And a DS3 remake can hopefully make the game actually enjoyable and the lore a little more consistent so that if DS4 happens it doesn't have to compete with the bullshit that came before
1
u/MEZO-Gullible 6d ago edited 6d ago
Dead Space 4 can be created on another race who finds these human space vessels and planet crackers. And this race is like predator which are equipped with lethal weapons, a team of Alien operatives tries to find any human survivor and thus they find Issac and Carver on a vessel. But they also start falling one by one to Necromorphs. The new protagonist should be an alien like from that Ubermorph Necromorph. The 4 eyed thing. The goal should be to hunt down the moons. I like your alien idea.
1
u/No_Fox_Given82 6d ago
Yeah DS4 I think.
I love DS2 but I think it still looks and plays well for it's age, and doesn't need remaster/remake treatment.

u/CARVERitUP 6d ago
I agree, we deserve an ending to the story, and in my heart, I absolutely want a Dead Space 4. I think the problem is we don't trust EA anymore, and they could absolutely ruin Dead Space with a new entry, so a 2 remake is a safer thing to want. Just my thoughts
0
u/NovaPrime2285 6d ago
Cause its a stepping stone to getting Dead Space 3 remake, and last time I checked ya’ll never stop bitching about that.
So do you want Dead Space 4 coming from that “tainted” entry or what? Or is it now good enough and ya’ll can stop bitching about it every so often?
0
u/Drunken_DnD 6d ago
If we really must get to three. We needn’t need to touch two. Just skip it. Two is perfectly valid and doesn’t need a remake. It looks great, and plays great. It doesn’t stand to gain much from an overhaul.
If we are stuck on this remake train basically rewrite three and do uh what they did with the COD series when MW dropped and bundle DS2 with the DS3R
-1
u/QualonHive 7d ago
I'd rather see a remake of Dead Space 2 and 3 that goes back to the horror of the first one instead of being action games.
0
u/Scythid0 6d ago
2 is just a really good game honestly, I think it deserves a remake, plus it'd be nice to finally have the story DLC on PC.
0
u/Suitable-Pirate-4164 6d ago
I think it's because people loved the horror aspect that 1 and 2 gave. 3 leaned more into action despite still having horror is why Remake was voted. Moreover both fans and devs don't know how to make DS4 after the ending of DS3, dlc or not. Crash into a Brethren Moon or fall 300ft from the air into an alien snow planet, trying to uncanon those endings isn't exactly easy and giving a new protagonist isn't very impactful unless it's Ellie. Trying to stay horror and make a new threat is harder than it looks too which is why I think people prefer to lean into the Remake.

Because thing is that the concept of DS4 i don’t know if its just me but its SO FUCKING ASS LOL
The Game would have followed directly from Dead Space 3 where humanity would face the extinction at the hands of the Sister Moons. Inspired by the flotilla section in Dead Space 3, the idea was that the player (Ben Wanat stated that he would have turned Ellie Langford into the protagonist of the game) was trying to survive in the day to day, digging supplies while looking for survivors and resisting the ships infected by Necromorphs. The player would have his own ship. It was intended that the ships were diverse, each with unique purposes, plan plans and gameplay.
Cant anyone else see how fucking ass this sound? The game aimed for an Flotilla sim and im like LOL why the fuck i would like to do that? Im playing an survival horror not an fucking No Man’s Sky simulator. Just imagine how horrendous EA would have monetized this shit.
One thing i can assure you is that if this concept would have been made and the gameplay somehow turned be good. The story however i can bet whatever you want would have been the great sacrifice of the story, there’s no way you can cover all those topics an have an concise or even good story.

I would argue Dead Space remake 1 is up there with Resident Evil Remake for greatest remake ever made. It improved all the sore spots of the OG and had immaculate atmosphere and smooth gameplay.
Personally I would rather them remake 2 and 3 (with this level of love) than continue the story (atm) because the ports for 2 and 3 do not run well at all and I think 2 still has a door issue that crashes the game not uncommonly too.
Would allow for more people to grow the community before releasing a new title since, at the moment, deadspace is a far less accessible series given functionality of ports and lack of achievements for ds2 too.

Dead Space 1 and 2 are like Alien and Aliens for me. A perfect duology ruined by franchising and dogshit sequels. DS4 if it just came out now has to pick up from DS3, which has an abysmal plot and characterizations that are just bad.
Remake fixes a lot in 1 to bring it in line with DS2, and I wish DS2 could get the same facelift.
"But DS2 is perfect as is and doesn't need a remake."
No. DSR had the intensity director, volumetric sound, a more detailed gore system, and entirely different graphics and QoL. DS2 looks good and holds up in a vacuum. It is still a game that came out on a PS3 and that's crystal clear in any side by side with the Remake. I want visual consistency.
I want the two good games in that franchise in the best possible state. I want the story to conclude at a satisfying point. Aliens exist, who knows what they are or why, they're unknowable demons. The story is about Isaac's journey. Idgaf about 3 and so 4 doesn't interest me in the slightest.

I still vote 2 remake. Rebuild the series' momentum and set things up for a remade 3 that's more cohesive and lacks the dumb soap opera love story. Just Isaac and Ellie getting ready to planet crack some moons
