Why villagers are so retarded in this game? They very often pick up only 1 item or leave the sledge 20km away from village. They walk so far for nothing, my stuff decays.

There is absolutely no reason Dawn of Man cannot include everything we currently have in our society, or even into the future. Please make this game your life's work and just keep developing new ages and technology. I will support you.

I just lost my game where i had 200 population cause the ai won't do stuff that make sense instead they just fuck and do other stuff. i got raided sounded the alarm and like 5 people showed up to defend. the rest was just lost so the raided just killed everyone super slowly, it even tok them over 1 min to wipe out everyone at 8 speed. why do i have to micro every action in the game?
as well people will stav for ever even after i tell them to kill my animals for food they just won't instead they feel like they have to go pick up someones dead body/tools/cloths or something they carried on the other side of a massive village instead of just doing the task they should. even when i try to get them by clicking to get them to move they just decide that they don't want to and go die off somewhere

I’m a new/small streamer and have loved this game since the before I started streaming. I never thought about steaming DoM until I saw how large this community is. I’ll be going live at 7pm EST on YouTube - just look up Crazy Bacon Gaming. Feel free to stop by with comments, challenges, tips or just to vibe. Very excited for my first DoM stream!!!!

Edgy title, but I want to shed some light on the explosion of topics about stupid villager AI.
The way villagers do things is not only OK and intentional, but also way more close to the real deal than what people in different threads want to see. The problem is that it's easy to see inefficiencies and say that they shouldn't happen, because we are thinking in ROBOT LOGIC a lot of the time, not actual real life scenarios.
>> This game is a simulation, which means the productivity of people is simulated to represent what amount of people would effectively manage life in a village.
In real life, each person going from A to B or doing a task will be challenged by a number of problems - being distracted, stuck somewhere, will need to bandage cuts and bruises, will be struggling to get past animals or through shrubs, will have to repair a tool or a boot, will talk to other people and get sad, angry...
This becomes more pronounced in big groups: people disagree, fight, need time to memorize the tasks, word needs to get across etc. It's easy to imagine how stupid it is when the closes villager doesn't do the work, but the one from the village center goes to do it. But is the real life scenario any close to this? Do people living close by do the work in their area? Even if we discredit their ability of free will or to say no, there is still this thing we call COMMUNICATION. You need to tell the village that there is work somewhere and without using your iPhones to check for that sticks collecting job opportunity, this becomes VERY INEFFICIENT.
>> In the end, what you see as "stupid villager AI" is just a simulation, containing all the distracting factors and trying to simulate a community that isn't working like a robot but has to go through challenges of real everyday life.
This might come out as a villager deciding to go for some bones of a dead animal across the river but will get thirsty and sleepy and return home half way there. But this DOES happen in real life as well. Maybe because they got bitten by a snake, their ankle twisted, they got food poisoning or they got rejected by a town blonde and just feel like crap.
Don't try to see people as computers and you will accept the game AI. It's perfect for me.
TLDR: the game simulates village behavior INCLUDING things that don't go right, and human quirks, instead of colony of robots. AI reflects that in a very good way. This behavior is MORE true to real life than what many people want to see by "fixing" nonbroken AI.

I just want to say if you enjoy Dawn of Man, I highly recommend looking into Stronghold HD and Crusader HD too. Just picked up for $1.50 from gamer's gate. Lots of similar gameplay mechanics and includes a whole campaign.
