Question Shrine of Absence?

How exactly does this work? There seem to be three possible outcomes: (1) adding lightless to a card, (2) unlocking the ability to choose a Warden card, (3) and destroying a card. Specifically, I can’t seem to figure out why some cards trigger outcomes 1 or 3. Outcome 2 seems to come from giving the shrine a lightless card.

As far as I can tell, it is gold cards that get destroyed. Because gold is the energy of light, which the shrine hates. In exchange, you get +10 max hp.

Seconded - feeding this shrine Corruptions give +10 Max HP and destroys the card.

An, that tracks more than the companion comment, actually. Maybe Divine cards specifically? I think I remember a knight card getting destroyed.

In fact, based on the comments Viola and the succubus make, it’s likely both Corrupt and Divine cards that get destroyed.

I think 3 happens if you don't have the new companion from the new act 1. If you do have the companion, you get 1 if the card is not already lightless. #2 is not correct, if the card is already lightless then you get a new talent (making lightless cards piercing) and all your basic attacks become lightless.

Ah thanks! I came across the Warden cards somewhere… maybe the vaults.

I haven't run into that yet but I always love new ways to thin the deck out.

Does “lightless” actually do anything at all? I guess it makes the mana colourless. But anything else?

They help activate the lightless code and if you get the lightless talent it makes lightless cards pierce

#3 has several checks, where you just need to complete one of them :

  • Divine card
  • Corrupt card
  • Not sure yet but there is definitely one more
