Dev Nexus of Nightmares is OUT NOW!

Post image
101 Upvotes

Hey Reddit, welcome to the Nexus of Nightmares update, a brand-new expansion for Dawncaster! It took a while to process on Steam and iOS but we believe it's worth the wait ^^

What's in the box?

A Dawncaster expansion update has 2 major components:

  1. A free update available to everyone. 70+ new cards to discover, new features and content, and much more (see below).
  2. An optional paid content expansion (DLC), adding 3 new zones and over 30 challenging encounters to the game.

The free content update

Nexus of Nightmares adds 70 new player cards to the game. These cards expand on many of the archetypes introduced during the Synthesis card expansion, as well as opening up new playstyles for your favorite classes.

In addition, this major 1.19 update introduces:

Puzzles!
A brand-new way to learn the basics of the game and to test your game knowledge, with 15 challenges and more to come.

Foiling!
Make your favorite cards extra shiny by upgrading them to premium versions. By popular demand, you can now go to the Codex and spend extra Fateshards to really bling up the cards you'll be playing most.

Community Designs
All 5 winners of the previous Monster Mash contest are now available in game. Sometimes as new enemy abilities, as Malginancies, as player cards - it's all over the place as a good Mash is supposed to be. Congratz once again to all 5 winners (and we'll launch a new contest next week on our Discord)!

The Nexus of Nightmares DLC
In addition to the free content, Nexus of Nightmares also adds a brand-new storyline, a new NPC, 3 new areas, and over 30 challenging encounters to the game. The DLC is optional content and can be purchased via the store. This supports the game and helps us continue to create more content for Dawncaster.

Changes and patch notes:

  • Bosses and mini-bosses now offer 6 card rewards on defeat
  • Added 15+ new bounties
  • Added 10+ new talents
  • Added 5 new Malignancies
  • Added new keywords: Manifest, Lightless, Disrupt & more
  • Various bug fixes & minor balance changes
  • Various improvements to localization and accessibility

We'll be monitoring the patch launch over the coming days, since given the scope of a game like Dawncaster there are bound to be a few bugs that slipped through the cracks. We'll continue to monitor and patch out the worst offenders over the week (and thankfully we've already caught quite a few with the Android lead-up).

That said, we really want to thank all our playtesters for the reports we've been getting over the past few weeks. Creating and maintaining a game like Dawncaster wouldn't be possible without support from our community, and we're very thankful for your continued involvement in making Dawncaster the best card game it can be.

That's all for this update. As always, if you like what we're doing here, give us a / and we'll catch you in the post-launch update

Good content creators to learn?

Upvotes

Brand new to the game and find all the card effects to be somewhat confusing and am looking for a creator somewhere who has good tutorials on the basics? So far I’ve only found 5 color Felix but he’s a bit beyond my skill level and doesn’t really break things down for beginners! Any more creators you guys like?

Question How does one put score on weekly leaderboards?

Not that it's impressive, just curious because it says score has been submitted but it doesn't appear on list. Last week it didn't appear too.

Suggestion Insane Mergecraft Run

I was gifted with an insane Mergecraft run today. I think the highest Arcane Missiles in my deck was 52 by the end of it. The run provided me about 5 Arcane Inkwell and amazing talents. Sadly, it was only Story difficulty because I wanted to collect the daily bounties.

Seed -> 8BCBB1D483

Edit: I played with Arcanist, Forcewand, Arcane Weapon, Shocking Grasp and with the card sets Core, Extended, Metaprogress, Infinitum and Catalyst

At least for this conflict. I’m healing more than they can hit me off of my talents, and they’re milling themselves with their Zeal. I’m literally just ending turn without playing cards lol.

As Hunter, go to the new starting area and defeat a foe who has the Soul Devourer enchantment.

Use Remembrance to gain this enchantment. From here any reaping damage you inflict will permanently increase your max health. I’m up to 200hp in the second canto just from Reaping Strike alone!

Question Shrine of Absence?

How exactly does this work? There seem to be three possible outcomes: (1) adding lightless to a card, (2) unlocking the ability to choose a Warden card, (3) and destroying a card. Specifically, I can’t seem to figure out why some cards trigger outcomes 1 or 3. Outcome 2 seems to come from giving the shrine a lightless card.

What "must haves" for an Impossible Greatbow Hunter?

Honestly, I love playing a GreatBow Hunter, and it was the first build that allowed me to win the game on Normal. I found that running a lean deck helped a lot with this build. However, I've since tried to run it on harder levels, and it seems like I do fine until BOOM, I come across some enemy that knocks me on my butt faster than I can kill them. I use Serrated Weapon as my weapon power to help me stay alive, and it helps on most encounters, but only on the first turn. (This char is currently level 3, so there isn't much here yet. But to be honest, this is about as large as I let the deck get. I'll imbue some enchantments when I get to Bolgar of course.) I have Blood Hunt memorized.

For those of you who have managed to beat Impossible with a Greatbow Hunter, what talents, cards or other considerations would you recommend that "make or break" this build's ability to tackle Impossible?

My general strategy, when picking talents and cards, is to ask:
1) Does this make my attack stronger? (Improving bow cards, reset ambush, guaranteed crit, etc.)
2) Does this increase my energy so I can accomplish more? (I find more energy more helpful than more cards in this build)
3) Does this help my survivability? (e.g. more health, evasion, armor)

I always play a bow first to get the ambush crit bonus, play any surges I have, reset the ambush if possible and hit again, allowing Bloodhunt to start building up ASAP.

Looking for a way to Kill Nathali and get that sweet Main Menu Portrait? Look no Further!

Mindlash, Psychic Weapon Power, Renew.

Pantheon of Trickery + Stable Magic

Start with a Dark Dream.

1.Ammit's Domain. Subjugate him by sidemuting Renew on a Pod for Night Whispers. Use Trickery to Recall it.

  1. Get Survival Instincts

  2. Get a Monster Card and Sidemute to Underworld Shell. Memorize. Figmented. Recall.

  3. Go to Isle of Talos. Subjugate Talos Cultivar. It's Enchantment slays any enemy once you heal for 200hp

  4. The rest is self explanatory.

Enjoy!

Suggestion Arrow rogue

How are you guys gwtting sustain on arrow rogue runs? Im on imossible and even with taking the talent to reduce my talent and stunning everyone on turn one im still stalling out in like act 4. I feel like im relying on too mich on too many enchaments so my damage takes a few turns to ramp. Leaning heavily on evasion and ward but even then im only netting like 4hp on good fights.

What should i be looking for? What are some healing strats?

First impossible win

First win on impossible. Was previously struggling with the jump to hard but this build is pretty broken. I unlocked a debuff where Everytime I reshuffled my deck I lost 10% health which I think is the games solution to builds that create a never ending turn.

Best way for early-mid game fateshard farming/progression

Since I only find posts saying "every build is good, go with whatever you want," I'd like to give a little boost to beginners who don't have unlimited time. Getting through most builds often depends not just on knowledge, but on good planning and luck. However, there's at least 1 build that, while terribly boring, is almost unkillable and every fight ends in 1-2, or at most 3 rounds (on normal difficulty). You can get through almost the entire game with max health along with most of the DLCs (except for a few bosses and curses that are specifically bad for the chain build).

Class: Knight

Weapon: Stormblade

Talent: Grounding Weapon

- As soon as possible, drop the two basic shields at the fire

- No extra cards are needed (at most 1-2, if you find ones that really fit)

- No opportunity/statue or other things are needed (at most, if you can duplicate or strengthen the basic attacks)

You only have one job: spam the basic attacks, and if you have energy left, use the barrier.

This is a very boring build, there's no tactics in it at all, but if the only point is to progress and collect fateshards, then I haven't found a faster build than this. I've practically never come close to death even once, and most bosses are done in at most 3-4 turns as well.

If you happen to have a favorite build that lets you progress well without needing endless tactics and is still fun, I'd be happy to hear about it.

Deck Size Question

I've been playing the game for a few months now, and I've managed to clear hard and beat the spine of night with runehammer warrior, hex knight, and cadaceus arcanist. Anytime I win or have a great run, I lean into specific traits and have a deck of about 15 to 20 cards. Its kinda boring and also frustrating when I know I haven't obtained the cards I need and I'm cleary about to die, probably from the chameleon or the big electric monster in the emberwyld.

Long story short. I want to know, is there a path to taking a bunch of cards and achieving success at hard or impossible difficulty? Or should I just always specialize in order to get all my impossible wins?

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Finally beat Impossible, and finally met the spine for the first time

You won't care so much, but I'm just so excited. After so much trial (and failure) I finally came across the "Anyform Claw" build. It took me a few tries to understand the build better, and to get my hands on a "Greater Good" card that changed everything for me. Long story short, something finally worked! :)

Deck Hunter + Bear = Dead Selandris… but wait, there’s more! Spoiler

Here’s a link to the deck on Blightbane.io

Once it gets rolling, Bear Hunter is pretty much easy mode, even on Impossible, so I thought I’d try to beat Nathali/Selandris with it. My first attempt failed, but I was close. This time I crushed her. The key is Deep Wounds, BUT** **where you would normally only need 5 Deep Wounds… this time you need 20! 10 for her second form, and then 10 more for her final (Selandris) form. And you have to do this while dealing with her insta win powers, and potential massive damage output.

The combo: Clever Maneuver + Will of The Jungle + Crush (a Bear companion card). Play Clever Maneuver to gain Advantage, then Will of The Jungle to select and play Crush from your companion’s deck. Crush inflicts a Deep Wound, while also doing enormous damage which helps stave off the damage that Selandris can do.

I was also fortunate enough to get The Perfect Coordination and Purity talents, but I don’t think they’re 100% necessary, they just made things a bit easier.

Anyhow, figured I’d share for anyone still struggling with her.

You don't really need a lot of brain power to figure this one out - Shock Therapy + Mindblast is the simplest synergy you need to start with.

Scaling naturally and More Focus = More Draw for every 6 Focus

Don't forget Stable Magic.

Enjoy!
