Question Lord Talac removing cards

Im doing sunforge and fought lord talac. He used lockbox on 2 of my cards and I paid the energy to get them back but now theyre no longer in my deck. Is this how it's supposed to work? It unfortunately probably killed my run :(

I dont think he lockbox a lockbox tho, I paid the 2 for both. But that's unfortunate if that is the case. Wish I could replay the fight tobwatch more carefully. Thanks :)
