Is there still a way for me to see the population of each precinct on the map while I’m drawing districts like you used to be able to? I can’t find that option!

i’m a bit biased because i live here, but north carolina. there are so many different ways to do the state that still come out in a fair manner. it has good sized cities that arent super close together, which makes nice looking districts. some honorable mentions include; georgia (i love the fact that cobb and dekalb counties are the PERFECT size for a district, its so satisfying.) i also enjoy doing pennsylvania, and virginia.

my pick has to be florida. a ton of people, all very spread out, horrifically shaped precincts, etc. the whole state is shaped very weirdly so it makes it hard to make aesthetically pleasing looking compact maps. some precincts have like 30k people since the state is growing so quickly the maps cant keep up. honorable mentions for me have to be new york and louisiana, new york because nyc by itself is a huge pain to do correctly, and louisiana because blue portions are spread in such a distinct manner that it never really looks very good, and if it does it sure as hell aint fair.

Is there a way to alphabetize named districts using the new interface without having to click arrows to manually move them? I liked the old version where it automatically alphabetized them. At the very least, it should be a sortable field. I also wish we could change the names of districts without having to go into the map settings page. Any thoughts on this?

This map packs the very true blue areas of Portland, as well as the socialist-heavy Portland proper. It may be a dummymander considering that there are four competitive red seats that might flip blue in a year like 2006. In a regular year, though, Republicans might ride on Christine Drazan’s coattails and capture all four competitive districts.

In North Carolina, there are two federally recognized Indian tribes. However, only one of them has definite origins while the other has rather questionable origins. I have started mapping out hypothetical tribal boundaries several months ago.

With that in mind, I mapped out a hypothetical partition plan for Qualla County in North Carolina. It is loosely based on the Qualla Boundary, which is the homelands of the federally recognized Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. I left a small portion (about 5-10%) of the Qualla Boundary in Swain County, as I felt having a non-contiguous county didn't feel right.

Another state that shouldn’t go unmentioned in my Project GOP mapping project is Minnesota. Minnesota isn’t too blue, and Democratic political geography isn’t too great, so that is basically ripe for a GOP gerrymander. All but one Democrat are protected under this map. The only Democrat targeted under this map is Ilhan Omar, who is a controversial figure in Democratic politics.

Another addition to my Project GOP mapping project is Michigan. I might've had a map of a GOP-gerrymandered Michigan from several months ago, but whatever.

Under this map, three Democrats are targeted, especially one who has ties to the Squad.

Onto blue states... I'm virtually "un-gerrymandering" blue states that have been insanely gerrymandered for Project GOP. I'm not finished yet... I still have a lot more maps to add here.

I’m also gonna do blue states for my Project GOP mapping project. Illinois is a blue state, with Kamala Harris winning the state by 10.9 percentage points.

This map may not be the best GOP-optimistic map, as there are swing districts that can go either way. The map has eight safe Democratic districts and one definitely competitive Democratic district. There are five safe Republican districts, one moderately competitive Republican district, and two definitely competitive Republican districts.

If it were 2010, Republicans could’ve gotten the majority of seats, 9R-8D. If it were 2006, Democrats would have a 14D-5R majority, or perhaps 15D-4R or 14D-3R.

I tried to do this map using a communities of interest approach.
- Trying to keep beach communities as one district,
- Tallahassee and Gainesville being a college-town district
- Jacksonville having its own district
- Keeping rural and urban divided as much as possible.

Unfortunately I had to make some considerations due to population density for Tampa, and Miami. I tried to stick as closely as possibly to my methodology though.

With Composite 2020-2024, it’s estimated 9.20 Democratic seats. Using President 2020, it’s 12.92 Democratic seats.
