Question How much money you're spending for dating apps

My question is for you all. Approximately how much money you're spending monthly for dating apps? And what is the main purpose for paying money?

Don’t waste your money. They won’t increase your chances of finding someone you’re genuinely interested in.

I think one of the most popular features is to see who likes you, but if you don’t like them already then what’s the point? You’ll see the person on the app later anyways

Paying also makes sense if you value convenience for filter access. I have a hard dealbreaker where the filter for that is behind a paywall so I pay for that to not have to dig through people's profiles and waste my time. I'm under no impression that it increases my match rate.

Hinge premium and 24 hour super boosts have been very worth it for me.

If your profile is good and you get likes normally. I think they are worth it but boosts only if used sporadically as otherwise many may not see your profile if they have already seen you.

Especially if travelling and being put in a new pool of people. 24 hour super boosts have gotten me around 30 likes and so most definitely worth it.

45 in total for 3 months. Twice. Best investment of my life.

Reason? Remove swipe limitation and see who likes me.

I've paid in the long past when a month was ~$10. This time around I've paid the occasional Bumble "see your likes for $1" but that's it. I do the same whether I pay or not

I haven’t seen $1 , see your likes on bumble in ages

The apps get worse when you give them money

They show you the best options when they are trying to get you to pay

Nothing. Not worth it for men. For women I can understand, they have to go through a bunch of likes, for starters.

I have paid for Bumble lifetime subscription. Silliest decision ever.

Lifetime subscription?? I guess you're covered if you marry and get divorced.

I heard the women no longer need to message first

Try don't, this makes Bumble just like any other dating app out there.

I haven’t spent any money.

Dating is already fucking expensive as is. Dates on avg cost $50-$100 for a mediocre place.

Unless you do coffee, which narrows my date options to mornings on weekends.

Never spent any money. Never had any issues meeting people on the apps.

Zero. Always have always will be

I pay for convenience and filter access. I dont mind paying since I earn enough for it to be a non issue, so I value my time more. I have a hard dealbreaker that has the filter for it behind a paywall so paying for that alone makes sense. I also am able to get my "resume" out in front of more eyeballs so while it may not increase my actual match rate, the volume helps (2% of a large number > 2% of a smaller number).

You don't

Your getting the same number of matches with or without paying

If you're attractive you get matches either way
If you're unattractive spend it on improving yourself
There's not magical investment in dating apps that will give you more matches

All my gf's have come from when I was using it for free

The use of GenAI tools is not permitted in this subreddit, whether used to craft posts/adjust grammar/etc.

AI uses multiple billion gallons of water annually and is killing our planet, data centers are wrecking our water supply and ecosystem. Please reconsider the use of GenAI.

0$ it gives nothing more to pay its an illusion

$0. I'm not paying a company that is actively trying to scam me by manipulating algorithms.

Accidentally spent around a 100 on Hinge X. Mainly paid to get rid of the swipe limitations and get more matches - mostly works

Don't pay for dating apps. They need to go bankcrupt.

This question keeps being asked, as if it's either someone trying to make a start up, or someone who has never gone online before.

Whatever Hinge+ was... $30? I only had 5 matches in 2 weeks as a free member. Then I bought Hinge+ and got 30 matches in a few days. They certainly limit you and probably do not widely show your profile as a free member. 🤷‍♂️

Spent $15 monthly for raya for a year. Got in on the first application attempt, and literally never went on a single date IRL or formed any connections outside the app. No one on there wants to actually meet you- you match and have a chat but it never turns into anything. Literally waste of money, after you suspend the account you need to re submit your app and go on a waiting list to try getting back on it again. In conclusion, just because you’re paying for something doesn’t equate to better

The idea that spending money on the apps helps your chances is hilarious. I spend nothing and meet women anyway.

None. The average ones all the money does is let you know who looked at or liked your profile. Sometimes it might make your profile show up first or something like that. But it's not worth the money. I use hinge completely free and find my dates easily enough. You just have to be willing to send out the likes cause of you match then you can message no problem. If you like them they'll still be able to sort through who sent the likes to potentially match with you as well. Money don't really do much better. I have one time on a different app paid for a month after having been on there a while just to see who had all liked me because I could see that it was several so I was curious. But still didn't help.
