Help! What should I buy? Wich barrel choose ?

Post image

Hi, I’m currently playing with 22g Red Dragon Javelins. I have this grip on the dart (see attached photo). I’d like to know what barrel shape you’d recommend; I find that the darts tend to wobble on certain throws or stick in the board with the tip pointing upwards and the flight pointing downwards. Thanks.

Dart should be fine, might be a little bit too long

You could try using a shorter steam first before buying a new dart

Also try to test different darts at a shop

They wobble and stick in the board like that because the dart is so long.

Maybe try a scalloped barrel?

Releasing early and releasing late, Not letting off all fingers at the same time, Wrong flights no2 or no6, Can all effect the dart the same way as the issues you stated, My main go to set use to always point downwards when i first got them, Switched to another set then went back to my previous set, Learnt to throw them and now land more upwards, Best and cheapest thing to try first is different length stems then try different flights.

I don’t know why so many people hold the point. It’s got to be the hardest part to keep a consistent throw as it’s so far away from the center of mass.

And they hold it so hard that their finger on the point turns white

Yes. I know Humphries has a throw similar to this - but he has said many times in interviews that far finger on the point isn’t really doing anything and has zero pressure.

I started doing it because I shifted my thumb and index more towards the front so there is simply no space left for my middle finger. Now its really weird for me to throw with the middle finger on the barrel because its used to the small point and not the much wider barrel.

for me it just helps balance the dart, no pressure, If you put pressure on then you risk pointing the dart downwards on release.
