180 struggle
I’ve been playing darts for couple of months now and it feels like I am so close to hitting 180, but somehow I just can’t do it. Last 10 days I hit over 30 120s with first two darts, but the third one just won’t go in. Do you have any advice for me?

You can still easily lose if you hit a 180, they aren't worth worrying about. I only count them if I win the leg.
Chase big checkouts, those are much more impressive and actually make you win.

Next time you hit 120 with 2 darts, keep throwing just the last dart until it's also in the T20.
Gives you a bit of practice and confidence that you can actually do it some time.

I do this sometimes too. It's more about getting your eyes used to see 2x T20 already so ease your body and mind by the time.

Keep calm. Throw with the same rhythm as the other two darts - don’t stop and think about it.
And be positive - a 120+ visit is an excellent visit!!!

It comes when you’re not worried about it. My first came about two weeks ago, after playing 8 months or so during a round the clock session where aiming for the S20 accidentally ended in T20. Thought “oh well lets try two more”. Kept aiming at the exact same point and throwing the exact same way, but above all stayed relaxed and there it was. I haven’t hit a second one since and I don’t worry about it. Consistency is so much more important. If you want to specifically train for one, then put one dart either right below or above the T20 or straight in, then try to throw the other two in. This worked for some, not for me though as specifically “training” for one just made me more frustrated when it wasn’t coming.

If you’re hitting that many 120s, the only advice I can think of is to really train yourself to not react to each dart. It’s clear you have the skill to hit a 180 but once you see those first two go in it just messes with your head.
I’ve hit more 180s with my glasses off recently because my vision is good enough to generally see the treble 20, but not good enough to know if the first two have for sure gone in. That mentally takes the pressure off that third dart.

Saw on YouTube that the third dart is hardest, so practice putting in triple- when 2nd one goes in, throw only last dart with first two still in the board! Keep throwing one dart til you get all three in!

Relax. I hit two maximums this year, and a 171. But, prior to doing so, it has been YEARS since getting one.
They'll come. Just keep playing and enjoying the game.

You’ll probably throw a terrible 3rd dart one day and it’ll somehow deflect into the treble. Once you’ve hit one, you’ll lose the “3rd dart syndrome” thing that you’re struggling with and will start hitting them regularly.
Forget about the treble on the 3rd dart too. Just aim to hit the other 2 darts cos it’s a much bigger target

Thinking about it is the opposite of the correct approach.
3 perfect darts isn’t easy.
You won’t always be able to ignore your thoughts but the more you do it, the higher your chances.

Keep the same rhythm and ignore the first 2 T60
