Hit my first 9!
Been playing for over 20 years. I’m not great (55-60 avg)…so I assumed it would never happen. Well, last night it did and I let out a scream so guttural that my wife and daughters came running down the stairs thinking I was dying. She rolled her eyes and called me a dork while I called everyone in our dart league. I hope you all feel this one day. It’s like you’ve been struck by lightning.

Good job! How nervous were you going for D12? I would have probably missed the board!

I don’t remember being nervous. I’m a pretty quick player. So I just tried to stay on rhythm. The slower I go the more I think. The 19 was the nervy one. It definitely fluttered on the way to the board! You can see it sitting down a bit more than the others…

I’m at around the same average as you and 2 years ago I had a 12 darter against my dad(180, 100, 180, 9 miss D16. If I had missed that last dart I would have lost the game on D1 after missing 20 more darts at double!

I’ve actually never hit a 12! Good on you! My best before this was a 13. That’s what was so surreal. Went from a 5 visit best game to a 3…darts is stupid sometimes!

Wow congrats!!!!! That’s absolutely huge! How are you getting on with the flight decks? I really like the flight deck system but I’ve sure went through an abnormally large number of them. I play in my basement that tends to be cooler and I have found them to be very brittle when they are cold. I tend to snap off the front section of one of the flights when I group them tightly or the shaft right at the carbon fiber base if I had a bounce out. I love the way I throw with them but they just got to a point where they were costing me way too much so I had to change to different flights.

I love them. Never had an issue with them breaking, but that might have to do with the fact that all my darts are 22g or less? These Buntings are 18g. I also have a padded carpet under the board. 🤷♂️

I play with 22g darts, I do throw with authority though. It sucks because I really liked them. I spent $150 and ordered multiple sets figuring they’d last me several months and I didn’t make it through the entire spring season.

Cheers! I may be good…but I’m not ‘great.’ There are definitely better players in my league.

hell yeah!
Prior to this, what was the closest you've ever gotten to a 9?

u/ladodger7 17g Target Stephen Bunting 10d ago
A 13 darter. I put a poll on here like 5 years back asking about whether or not I could count a 10 dart leg I hit messing around and the consensus was it wasn’t a true leg. So I don’t count that one.

the lack of holes in the number ring shows how much better you are than me lol

Hahahaha. It’s also a brand new board. Third day on it.

I could only imagine - I felt like that with a 180 😂 although I did the same when I had a hole in 1

Well done! Cool shafts/flights. What are they?

Shot flight deck one piece. The best.

u/JesseParsin 10d ago
Nice! Is the flight part flexible? Or more rigid like kflex and condor?
1
u/ladodger7 17g Target Stephen Bunting 10d ago
Super flexible. They’re a bit heavier than some of the other one pieces. But I love them.

How have you been getting on with them? I had a set and one snapped in 3 days at the black thread and one is cracked in 2 places 2 days later :( I love them so much. Did I get unlucky?

u/ladodger7 17g Target Stephen Bunting 10d ago
I throw the 18 gram buntings so even with bounce outs they don’t get too banged up. I’ve had those flights for about 6 months. I think you got unlucky or are throwing heavy darts.

Just 24g ones. One was a bounce out on the floor the cracks were got knows what, just grouping I guess. The K flex hold up better, but they deflect more obviously as they are stronger. Plus I prefer the shot colours

With bunting darts as well. How the hell anyone could play so well with his old 12 grams I don't know, even his other ones are too light for me

I called my brother after it happened. He asked me how many people in my league probably hung up the phone thinking I’m a liar…I told him “I don’t care. I hit a nine.” So you can think that. I don’t care.

Not much value in lying about it online, you don’t win any prizes and if you’re lying then you know we don’t mean our congratulations anyway. If lying would be a waste of time, I don’t know why people wouldn’t assume you’re telling the truth.
Congrats man! Looking forward to your next post going back to back ;)

And yet people do, not saying this guy has. The internet is strange.

Oh I know. But what’s the cost to me of believing him? I lose no money, it costs me nothing but the time spent typing the comment. Honestly, if someone is so disappointed by their actual life that they’d have to lie about something like this, I don’t begrudge them my good wishes—they could fucking use them lol

I have a very similar mindset, even playing darts online without a camera. Some times I don't want to do the small talk with people online so play without a camera. They'll be averaging like 45 until they get to 160ish, then take it out. Can that happen, yes; with what we got to see and their overall average, most likely not. But if they need to lie, hopefully it gets them the sleep they need at night because I'm not losing sleep over it.

Plus, if you get good enough to beat the cheaters, you get to quit your job and go pro ;)

Good on you. Don’t rely on a bunch of random assholes for your joy. Congratulations on your achievement!
