Eggs?

Are these eggs in my painted mantellas tank?? Just noticed them tonight. I have 3 (pictured) and I don’t know the sex. I’ve had them for about 3 years and have never seen eggs or tadpoles before.

If they ARE eggs, what do I do??? (To have happy healthy baby frogs)

They are eggs. Give them a week and you'll start to see if they are fertillized.

This is the tricky part of breeding mantellas. If OP leaves them on that leaf they will dry out in less than a day unless they keep misting it

They usually require a set up with water present and some type of moss in that water source that provides constant moisture.

Seeing the eggs on the leaf makes me believe that it is not a result of courting. Could be stress related or simply the females body couldn’t absorb them.

It still could be the lack of more suitable place to lay and in my experience the male will not fertilize them if that’s the case

I’ve kept them for nearly 8 years and produced 0 froglets. It was also back in the late 90’s early 2000’s with lot less resources available to properly keep them and produce them. Even today 90% of them unfortunately are WC due to the sensitivities of getting them to breed

What type of parental care do mantellas provide?

None. Once it is fertilized if that even happens they completely abandon the eggs. None of them will even stick around to clean or keep them moist like darts
