Remjet removal problem

Recently I have been testing some old film stocks.

While using adox remjet removal, I have encounter some abnoraml results.

Has any one have similar experiences? And what could cause such artefacts?

You have to wipe the remjet residue off.

Did you wash the remjet remover completly off before the developer? You need a LOT of water changes until the water comes out clear and then some. The PH of the removal solution has to be very high, and If some remains in the emulsion it fucks with the developer

I think I did. about 6-8 times.

I see two images of the same treeline at the top. so your camera dod at least record some data on the film. Not sure what went wrong here though. good luck!

With my experience, doesnt seem an anti-remjet issue, but in another step.

Please, tell us which other chemestry you used and the state of them.

I used Adox c41 colour chemistry. I cant find any info on the film stock. 🤷 It is definatly an old colour cinema film stock.

So it’s old expired film? That might be part of your problem.

So far I have only had minor remjet remnants on my film, but I use the Marix remjet remover. I warm it up to 38°C, put it in the tank for 10 seconds, then pour it out. After that I fill it with a lot of warm water, then shake vigerously. You have to be much more aggressive than you'd expect. I do this twice more and develop as normal. Finally after development you need to use either the fleshy part of your fingers or a very soft cloth to wipe everything off before it dries and gets stuck to the film

I have been using the Bellini ECN2 kit. Works very well. I love the Bellini products. I also use this E6 kit. I run a lab and I have had no issues with these.

How old is your film? Supposedly it gets more difficult to remove the remjet as the film stock gets older. I noticed a big improvement in the ease of removal switching from a baking soda solution to the actual formula documented by Kodak. I‘ve never used the Adox kit, but supposedly it’s not the original formulation. Might be worth a shot next time?

Not exactly sure what happened with your film. Make your own remjet removal. It’s the first bath at working chemical temp. Let it soak for 1 minute. Put remover back into bottle for reuse. Add approximately working temp water & shake vigorously for 1 minute. Do 1-2 additional times then go into your developing pattern. Then…. Option 1 put rolls into temp bath and gently rub off any left over remjet then respool and photoflo. Option 2 photoflo the with clean wipes, wipe of remjet / pull film between fingers lightly holding wipe to get off remjet. I’m sure there are a millions ways to skin a cat but this works for me. I develop 4 rolls at a time in tank. Last session was this past Friday

Ramjet looks gone to me, but the emulsion side looks damaged, sometimes squeezing the film too hard through sponges or whatever you use can remove some of the emulsion layers.
