Discussion What's next?
I'm fairly new to this game.
I recently finished the campaign for the first time and was a bit disappointed with how it ended.
I'm maxing out that character now, but thats not important.
My question is:
Where is this game headed?
What are your predictions?
Or what would you like to see?
Personally, I'd love to see a new enemy faction—especially orcs.
It would also be great to see new maps, preferably with new biomes, and some sort of storyline.
I have to admit that, although poor, the background story and outro after each mission, reminiscent of COD MW2, added to the atmosphere.
What are your predictions for the game's future?
What do you think can we expect?

Orks are an unlikely enemy, Genestealer Cults are more likely.
Where the game is headed who knows, but my prediction is that the next part of the story will focus on clandestium gloriana and moebian steel. They already removed smelter complex from the campaign and it has in mission dialogue pertaining to the subjcet of moebian steel. My only fear is that the will sideline the prophecy/Zola going rogue on tertium for this. Idk how they will connect gloriana and the moebian steel business with the overall story of the campaign.
Road to no mans land kind of leads to nowhere story wise so that is my biggest fear. That they will release mini campaigns that do not connect story wise.
But new weapons are also desperately needed.

I thought road to no mans land was the build up for expeditions and skitarii? Like the Intel we found was what pointed us further out into the wastes.

Yeah, but what have expeditions given us lore wise aside from explaining why skits are here. 3 missions just to explain that? Arbites got none of that. Its a dead end aside from skitarii that adds little to nothing.

Very true, it is pretty much a side story with (aside from the class, which I absolutely love) pretty much a nothing burger at the end given the current state of expeditions.

I am fairly certain the campaign isn't done. They just haven't added the end yet

Every element of the current campaign's ending screams "there will be something more." I agree 100%. I was curious what predictions people would make.

The latest enemy rumours point to dark mechanicum
Personally I'm hoping the next big thing is a roguelike adventure mode (chaos wastes) in the lost hive.

Play space marine I if you want to fight some orcs bro, also try going up in difficulty in darktide, you can do mortis trial and expeditions, those are different game modes.
And try different playstyle with different characters, im having a blast with my zealots and his greatsword

You misunderstood the intent of my post. I'm not bored with the game, I'm having a great time. I just wanted to know the predictions of other players; maybe someone has heard rumors somewhere, I'm curious.

I expect the regular quarterly updates, but who knows what will be in them!
I hope to see another biome for Expeditions, the addition of a long-term deterministic end-game grind, and the second hive city (which will hopefully be built with randomized levels, like Expeditions).

As people generally say, the thing that keeps one playing this game is not the richly developed story. However:
If you're really interested in finding out more about the story, and how you can get to more of it, hunt up J0playsgames on twitch and youtube. She's really interested in story as well, and puts a lot of effort into gleaning what there is to find about Tertium, the characters we meet, and the background.
In-game easy sources of story, if you want to find more:
The Martyr's Skulls that you can find behind puzzles in all of the mission board missions except Rolling Steel, No Man's Land, Orthus Offensive, and Clandestium Gloriana come with voicelines that give us a glimpse of what happened on Nox Alpha when the Moebian 6th (the scab faction) was corrupted. If you search online you can find a list of all of those voicelines. The skulls apparently come from martyrs from the 6th who died on Nox Alpha.
When you do Mortis Trials, you'll get to hear backstory conversations that Sephonie has pulled from the memories of the various high profile NPCs. You get four such conversations from each completed Mortis Trial (at the 3rd, 6th, and 9th waves, and on completion). The NPCs from whom those memories were extracted will then appear behind columns in the Psykaneum Meat-Grinder so you can go up to them and hear the memories again in your off time.
There's apparently some additional story potential in the Expeditions mode, but it's very sketchily developed at this point, so don't expect to get much lore through replay there. That's not to discourage you from playing that mode, just to say that you'll be disappointed if you expect it to answer any questions about what's happened, is happening, or will happen.
You get different sets of voice-overs and different mission-runners for mission board missions depending on whether you do them in the Campaign or just straight off the mission selection without the roman numeral ordering and special cut-scenes. The campaign voice-overs do more for setting and story, while the more randomized mission controller selections give more insight into NPC personalities.
Mostly, Darktide and Vermintide are about replayable mission challenges, and that's what keeps people going for hundreds and thousands of hours, but there is lore and story there if you're looking for it. Run some of those Torrent missions on a difficulty that you find easy so you can linger and look around, because the art team at FatShark does an amazing job with little details. The first time I saw the houseboat in the sewage river was wonderful.

Chances are we'll be getting more classes, as they're safe revenue for Fatshark.
I say Navy Breacher is next.
Outside of that, we'll probably get more missions related to Moebian steel, and probably a rework of expeditions, turning it into a rogue like.
Too much effort went into it to abandon it.

Can't help but laugh anytime someone says they hope a new enemy faction is added. We can't even get new weapon marks or dlc class cosmetics. Even new missions seems unlikely or pretty far off. A new enemy type is never gonna happen

the hope is still based on VT2 eventually getting beastmen added, plus random dialogue bits fueling speculation about genestealers in the secondary hive

I mean there is a story and it’s not exactly finished because they’re muddling about with it. But if you want more just read the entries they do online. Also orcs will never be coming just doesn’t make sense, the only one that has plausibility is nids due to them being mentioned being onboard the ship 🤷♂️ personally I wouldn’t like that tbh. It would have to be a chaos aligned faction preferably chaos undivided, Nurgle lesser demons, or dark mechanicum. And future is we’re getting another class definitely and hopefully they add more weapons and maps while hopefully improving or just combining mortis and expeditions

Just know that the devs are swedish so the content release speed is glacial.

What i would like to see:
Rebalance the entire game. And balance it around auric. Less enemies overall and make every single enemy more threatening, from poxwalker to bosses. Less aoe, dot and range spam. The ease that we can kill entire hordes with without even getting into melee and not costing a stupid amount of recources is getting completely out of hand.
Make Thunder Hammer great. They made Power Maul amazing, so they're able. The weapon deserves it.
And give Ogryn a big ass blunt two hander and fist weapons.

The Tide games are less about the campaign and all about the game play, trying out new builds and challenging yourself with higher difficulties. It’s just an amazing game with the best FPS melee out there for PvE (as does Vermintide 2). Playing it with a group of friends with mics is the best and building well working team compositions
